I figured I would try this place over my usual Indian spot (Shan a punjab)... The chicken tikka masala was a pale orange. My usual spot makes it darker with visible spices in it. Indian kitchens version was pretty flavorless. The Naan is half a Naan for $3+ and comparing it to my usual spot, dry and flaky. I'm used to soft pillowy Naan with flavor. Likewise, even the rice was disappointing. I gave this place a try but I can't justify it again knowing the flavor and value I get at pretty much any other spot. Things have been changed. I have been ordering same menus for a while and always satisfied but my recent take out was big level down. Flavor, ingredients were not good as before. There are quite many chefs over the years, I know it's different depending on who is cooking but this time I noticed all were not good as before. Rice was mushy and saggy with too much salt and they were using cheap frozen veggies and quite level down on meat. Too bad. What happened ? We wanted takeout on a rainy Sunday night and Indian Kitchen was the first option that popped into our head. The restaurant was small as it seems like they were doing takeout and delivery only. While the food was a bit on the pricier side compared to my expectations, everything was delicious! Finally I found my perfect butter chicken recipe and my new favorite Indian restaurant. I ordered them for delivery and the portions were fantastic and food quality was great. They are well priced, amazing quality, attentional to detail, and large portioned dishes. 5/5 -Aloo paratha was HUGE and they provided me with pickle, their own yogurt with perfect balance of seasoning to the yogurt, butter, onions and chili all to eat with it. It was IMPRESSIVE -Butter chicken was amazing. The chicken chunks were like real slow cooked meat melt in your mouth and you can choose your spice level. It was out of this world. The chicken had a tandoor color to it on its own not addition to being in the creamy sauce. I 110% recommend this. -Samosa Chaat - the portions for this dish are huge also! The first few times we tried India Kitchen it was great. This time (last week) was horrible. The chats had spice just dumped over them that did not add to them at all. (This was very different than the last few times we ordered.) My daughter's Chicken Korma was off. We wanted to try out Indian food in Boston and this restaurant was pretty close to where we were staying. The food didn't disappoint at all. Currently they only have takeout or delivery option. We tried the samosa chaat, Shahi paneer makhani, chana masala, garlic naan and peshwari naan. The samosa chaat was tasty, the shahi panner gravy was fantastic and delicious, we finished it in one sitting. The chana masala was ok since the gravy base for it was same as paneer, I was expecting it to be a bit different. I ordered something last week and ordered it mild and it was very mild so I ordered the Tarka Dal hot and it was! I don't think I could eat the very hot option. I have religiously ordered from here for years always gotten the side of sauce for $5-$6....today I called to order and the girl on the phone told me the side of sauce would cost me the same as an order with the chicken so a side of sauce is going to cost $15?! I asked her to confirm and she said the chef confirmed the price and said there was no manager or owner I could speak with. I need to write this review before I go off into my food coma. Everything was SOOOOO GOOOOD!!! Food arrived much faster than the estimated delivery time. The driver completely honored my request for contactless delivery. It was via GrubHub. First thing I noticed was that all the items were very neatly packed. This is important because we've all had delivery food spill over before. Not with Indian Kitchen. They even gave me an extra onion chutney which was absolutely delicious (and get extra tamarind chutney while you're at it because this rocks!!!) Things we got: - Vegetable Pakora: five very nice, big pieces. Go super well with the chutneys. Definitely recommended. - Goat Coconut: boned-in goat meat made with coconut milk and spices. This was nice, especially if you like coconut milk. - Lamb Rogan Josh: this was soo crazy good. The lamb is so tender, the sauce so complex, absolutely gonna order this again. - Malai Kofta: surprisingly good. It's a nice, milder sauce compared to curry and such, but goes very well with the more spiced-up dishes. Love it. - Mango Lassi: we got a gallon of it. Yeah. It's worth it, yo. - Sweet Lassi: we ordered one small, which was missing somehow so we didn't get to try it. I didn't realize it until way later. O well. :( All in all it was a truly delicious, satisfying meal. I even called them afterwards to let them know how much we enjoyed the food. Give Indian Kitchen a try, everyone. My husband and I decided to order food from India Kitchen yesterday, and we were very pleased. To start, they have a nice selection of appetizers that we don't see at most restaurants. We ordered the samosa chat, and it was delicious! We were also quite impressed by the size of the appetizer...it filled the same size takeout container as our entrees. I also enjoyed the shahi paneer makhani...it was excellent and had a large amount of paneer in it. My husband had the lamb shahi korma. All of the flavors were wonderful, and the portion sizes and prices were in line with other similar restaurants. The delivery (through grubhub) was later than predicted, but overall we were very pleased with our meal and would certainly order from India Kitchen again. After seeing so many positive reviews I was excited to try Indian Kitchen. I was unfortunately very dissatisfied. As someone who is married to an Indian man, when I order my food with a medium spice level I don't expect it to be extremely mild. Beyond this, my vegetable biryani and navratan korma were obviously made with frozen vegetables (you know, the crinkle-cut carrots and zucchini). They were mushy and flavorless. Just ordered from this restaurant and was SO HAPPY when I unwrapped the amazing food. A few quick points of appreciation 1) their delivery is still fresh, which is so important these days 2) you can customize spice level 3) they have a huge menu with Indian, desi Chinese, tandoor, and chaat options 4) serving sizes are very generous 5) customer service was great (I spoke to them on the phone twice to confirm my order) Other than that, WOW. The butter chicken was so creamy and both spicy + sweet. It reminded me of my favorite Pakistani restaurant I grew up going to in AZ, and couldn't find any place that came close. My husband ordered the tandoori chicken and saved the leftovers for a few extra meals (huge servings). We also got the bhel puri, samosa chaat (samosas we're so fresh and covered with flavorful toppings), and lentil soup. The servings of naan were very generous. I'm thrilled that Boston finally has a good Indian restaurant, I haven't been anywhere as good and hope they survive the shutdown with their delivery orders. Update after a week: Ok, now that I've ordered and am currently placing another order already, I can say that am happy. Yes am still ecstatic that there exists an Indian restaurant that can make a vegan Parantha (I've implored and argued with so many restaurant folks that, hey just don't use butter/ ghee, I make paratha vegan all the time, it's possible! but am always ignored or told otherwise) AND they have more than one option and everything is clearly marked. Though, why is baingan Bharta not vegan? The dal makhani was simple and delicious, just like home, not the heavily buttered lentils that pass off for dal makhani in most places. Trivia: The 'makhani' in the dal comes from the type of lentils used, they naturally get buttery on cooking! Anyhow, the gobi Alu was ok,nothing great, the husband liked it. The parathas won the day.
