And I confess I love the FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY. I donate and buy many books from the used book stores by the libraries. I just read (from their used book store) the play A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE. I confess I never read it before and it was a fun fast read. Then I found the play on television and watched it. Loved them both.

The front has some amazing wooden doors - step inside to a landscaped court yard, and an open air covered reading room with free wireless. If you need to work away from home, this is the place to do so. Look carfeully, the building and courtyard are so well done, you might mistake this library for one of the near by homes. The library sits on a street that looks out to the ocean. Another cool thing to check out is the DuPont shell collection which is quite extensive and is on display in the court yard. We stopped by during the annual book sale and picked up some great books for less than a $1 each - some of the books looked like they had never been opened. 5 Stars for being a cool building, a free activity, a great place to read and having free wifi.

Very engaging storyteller was able to entrance the wide range of ages in attendance. Then there was the bubble machine. And a bucket of toys to free-play with. Get there early as space is limited. I noticed they had to turn away a few people. The children's area has lots of fun spaces too. If that had happened to us, we still would have found plenty to do there.

That building is the Cape Coral Art Center now. I just went today and I'm 52 years old. Lots of memories... I especially remember Mr. Haines and his mini steam locomotive displays; his wife taught me violin and that's my career now. Don't forget you can rent movies and ebooks on your tablets and streamer boxes without stepping in the door! Also I've been voting there since I turned 18... everyone is so nice! I've done violin show and tell for the littles a few times at the various libraries in the system.

I felt completely at ease browsing through the store. I was not pressured at all and it was so refreshing to be acknowledged while being allowed to browse at my leisure. We walked in and the nicest, most friendly young lady with a quick sense of humor helped us obtain our first library card in FL - finally! Now I won't need to purchase as many books for book club or leisure reading. But, she really made it a fun exchange. I quickly located two books on my list, looked up a third that I couldn't find (not available at this library) and we used the self-check out kiosk, which was very easy and quick. We visited around 2:30 PM on a Mondayin July and it was not very busy at all. I will most definitely be back to return today's books and borrow some more!

I was excited for the new library to reopen, but they made the story time room so small that only a few kids can attend, and registration fills up instantly. Now we cannot attend story time and my daughter is very disappointed. This was poor planning on their part to make the room so small very few can attend.
