My wife and I have been taking our dog, Didi, to Rover Santa Monica ~3 days a week for many years…read morenow, and we couldn't be happier with the care they provide. From the moment Didi walks in the door, he is treated like a VIP. Everyone who works there knows him by name and is genuinely excited to see him. Didi absolutely loves all the attention and affection he receives from the Rover team. Whenever I pick Didi up after a day at Rover, he is always super happy and playful. He often gets the "zoomies" running around the dog park next to Rover and again once we get home. And after a fun day with his friends, he crashes at home and sleeps with a big smile on his face. We also appreciate the additional services Rover has added recently, such as grooming and beach walks. These services are incredibly convenient, and Didi especially loves the beach walks. (I've attached a couple of photos to show how much he enjoys them!) My wife and I both couldn't do our jobs during the day without the peace of mind that Didi is being so well taken care of. Rover Santa Monica has truly been a lifesaver for us, and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for exceptional care for their furry friends.

For me, and more importantly, for my pup. She just loves it there. Sometime I get a little jealous of how excited she gets when she realizes she gets to spend the day at daycare. Thanks guys for making Rover a safe and happy place for my girl!

It had been almost a year since we last boarded but Ethan helped us get acclimated to the new policies and was super accommodating, even working with me on pick-up when my return flight was delayed. A true life-saver. All the staff are always kind and helpful and they really love on the animals, which I appreciate. They also regularly update with photos and emails to keep you in the loop which is very reassuring. Loki loves it there and is always wiped out when she returns. (She's been napping all day. Very clearly a happy girl ).

A little long but it's been nothing less than eventful with this place. I had hight hopes for this…read moreplace as the hours are so convenient for our family's busy schedules. Unfortunately, this place was a HUGE disappointment and had a huge negative impact on our pup. Long story short -- Everything here is a sales grab. The few girls care for the animals but the "managers" and men there are just there for the commission of your packages. I had a whole conversation about their unethical sales pitching with the employee while picking up my dog lol. It's "how they keep the place open" - the employee's words, not mine. Astounding. Said employee also asked what I did for a living because I questioned their sales pitch tactics -- I'm in sales. Also, If you need their VIP services for your unspayed or neutered pup, please spend your money elsewhere!! Before committing to a membership, we did a trial day and spent hundreds on drop in days, grooming, and overnight boarding to see if it was a good fit for our high energy pup. Our dog is not neutered and we don't plan on getting him neutered so we chose their VIP rooms. His breed is also extremely high energy and they promised they could accommodate. I also inquired about training multiple times and they kept saying the trainer would contact me. Everything went great after those few visits, they seemed caring and said he was a great fit for a membership so we end up signing up. Then everything went downhill. Upon the first day of the membership, our dog all of a sudden had behavior issues and needed to be picked up. In the middle of my work day I call the shift manager, and he states that if we want our dog to stay, he needs training ... (from their same trainer that I've inquired 3x about before committing to a membership, still haven't heard back). I asked why this wasn't communicated ever before committing to a membership and they didn't have an answer. I informed them that I would've paid for training before committing to a membership if they would've let me know that there were any issues. Our dog went a couple of more times until they could finally get me in touch with the trainer, 6 visits later. Actually I had lost complete trust at this facility. To add insult to injury, I was able to speak to one of their actual workers that is with the dogs and she let me know that our dog is only let out for about 10 minutes at a time, maybe 3 to 4 times a day during a 12 hour stay. This is their VIP option. So not only is he left in a room for about 12 hours a day, with dogs barking all around him, he's not being stimulated nor played with just being let out to go to the bathroom. Contradicting everything they say that they offer. Their "trainer" is also a joke. He is supposed to be from the Marines and well-versed in the breed of dog that we have. Upon washing him for 5 minutes, as I was told, he said that our dog needed to be neutered before he could be trained because of his energy. Our dog is a Malinois and is not supposed to be neutered before 2 years of age. We've since went elsewhere to get our dog trained from someone who is actually educated on his breed and he's worked on all of his anxiety and reactivity issues that our pup got because of this place.

Joni had such a blast there that I think she was a little sad to come home. This place is like a vacation for your cat while you go on vacation. My cat loves attention and they gave her so much love every day. I even saw on camera that the techs spend one on one time with the cats and that's so thoughtful. They also send you updates every single day. They are also very organized. Joni needed eye drops daily and they kindly did it for her. I am so happy I found this place. Highly recommend Purrvana to anyone looking for a safe, attentive, and truly cat-focused boarding experience. We'll absolutely be coming back!

We've spent 10's of thousands on boarding, daycare and grooming over the years on our 2 Basset Hounds. Most of it at Wag Hotel in Santa Monica. It used to be well-run under the previous manager, Kirsten, but the quality of care has completely collapsed under the new management. In May 2025, our dog was returned to us with almost all of her food untouched. Initially they tried to give every excuse trying to explain the discrepancy. However after thousands in vet bills, the manager (Nan) eventually admitted she was likely fed the wrong food or not fed at all. We received a refund and were promised better oversight personally from Nan. In September 2025, despite our experience in May, during my wife's medical emergency, we boarded her for one night. She was returned to us yet again with her food untouched. Staff told us she had been fed, but after more health issues, the manager later confirmed on camera that she had not been fed at all. [Email w/ the admission in screenshot] This isn't a one-time mistake. It's clear neglect followed by dishonesty. No responsible pet owner should ever trust this facility again. Complaints have been filed with local authorities for violation of California Health and Safety Code §122383(d).

Even after 14 years when we ask, "Want to visit the puppies!", he runs to the door wagging his tail. They are so loving and attentive to the dogs. Wilson happily goes through their doors without a leash, and often walks right back to the door to the play area. Over the years they've contacted me if they saw a sore, scrape, weird bump, itchy skin, not eating, not seeming like his usual self, or anything they thought we should know about. And they are EXTREMELY conscientious about health and vaccinations. 1. In 14 years Wilson has never returned home with a flea or illness. 2. Several years ago there was a new disease which dogs were catching and there was a newly released vaccine which WestLA Dogs sent information about, with a warning that without proof of vaccination dogs would not be admitted. It happened that we had to leave town for the weekend and they checked and found that Wilson had not yet had the vaccine. The ONLY way they would let Wilson stay was if he was sequestered in one of the single rooms with no access to other dogs. And we are probably the longest clients they have and they know Wilson as well as we do. BUT they were taking NO chances on exposing the other dogs. 3. They regularly send a reminder if a vaccine is due and check their records that the pup is up-to-date. I also love that if you just want to drop your pup for a couple of hours you can do so, or leave them for a longer time. I think the longest we've ever left Wilson is 2 weeks and he came home happy and relaxed - as though he had been on vacation, too.

I was a client of Tender Loving Care for over 17 years, then PetRock Hotel and Spa bought the company, keeping some employees. I have purebred show dogs and they have been groomed by the same employee for year's as this person knows the breed and knows how to groom them. No bones to pick with the employee. It was the new OWNER of PetRock Hotel and Spa. Apparently the NEW owner told the "bather boy" to take care of my dog despite that the only employee for 17 years + has groomed my show dogs. THIS was a SERIOUS PROBLEM AS My dog came back butchered! This is a spitz breed that carries a lot of coat and HUGE ruff which was mutilated to almost nothing but 2 inches!! My poor dog looks awful and looks like a starving coyote!! Plus, I have been charged almost double since the new owner took over and also charged me credit card fees in excess of $5 per dog. IF YOU HAVE SHOW DOGS, DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. They don't known how to groom show dogs they are just clipper hacks that charge way to much money to butcher your dog!! NEVER COMING BACK!! Below are photos of what my dog should look like in full coat, and what the dog looked like after I picked up my dog, which is naked. I can't even show my dog for at least 6 months due to the hair being pulled out. The regular groomer, Miguel has always groomed my dog but for some reason the new owner let a totally untrained rookie hack and wanna be groomer pull out all my dog's hair for a bath and blow dry only!! UNBELIEVABLY PISSED OFF!!
