I don't want to be hyperbolic, but Concannon's makes the best donuts that I've eaten, ever, in my…read moreentire life. Ever. One hundred percent. Nay, one thousand percent. You guys. I don't play with donuts. I'm a donut-eating fool. Donuts are my thing. I have glaze running through my bloodstream. I've never eaten better donuts than the ones I got from Concannon's in Muncie. In fact, I'm planning another trip to Muncie JUST to visit Concannon's and get some donuts. What's a two-hour round-trip drive when you can be rewarded with amazing donuts during your journey? I visited Concannon's by myself, and although I wanted one of each of the donuts they had in the bakery case, I limited myself to three donuts: a glazed pretzel-shaped yeasted donut, a blueberry cake donut and an old fashioned donut. My go-to at any donut shop is usually a glazed twist, but they don't have glazed twists here! Instead, they have a glazed pretzel-shaped donut, which turned out to have all of the elements of a glazed twist, but it was just bigger and more twisty. It was amazing, pillowy, slightly sweet and even more delicious when you pull it apart with your fingers and eat it bit by bit. The blueberry cake and old-fashioned donuts were my favorites, though. These melted in my mouth, especially the old-fashioned. It was so tender and fresh. The old-fashioned is one of those kinds of donuts that I wish I enjoyed with some coffee, but instead, I ate it solo while dancing around delightedly in my hotel room. Concannon's has lots of other sweets, desserts and baked goods, like cakes (including mini cakes and individual cake slices), cookies, whoopie pies, chocolates, popcorn, candies and all sorts of other goodies. There is also a cafe with coffee and other beverages available. This is a must-visit if, like me, you love donuts, but also a must-visit in general because it's such a Muncie institution.

While I grew up on Concannons and it delicious, they use super refined ingredients. Whenever I eat…read moresweets, cakes or pastries here, I am immediately congested, start sneezing and or feel sick to stomach. I don't know if it's cheap overly refined sugar or cheap overly bleached flour. But there's something to it. The flavor is there, but I can't breathe afterwards and my body shuts down. It's hardly organic or clean. Wish the would fix this, cause I'd love to suooort local and I'm willing to pay more. I only eat their food when my family buys. But I wouldn't buying my own because I feel congested, fat, exhausted after eating.

White cake: flavor and texture were good. Chocolate cake: flavor and texture were okay, cake just crumbled and fell apart cutting into it. Icing was running down sides of cake halfway through the party (we were in a temperature controlled room with room temp averaging about 74 degrees). Paid $96 - overall not impressed. Donuts were pretty good. Coffee was okay. Both fairly priced for quality.

Imagine our surprise when we realized they had been making delicious homemade donuts for 50+ years! My Americano was okay. A little burnt- I probably should have just gone with a regular coffee since this was a bakery, not a coffee shop. My husband's mocha was a better choice. The standouts were the donuts. We picked up half a dozen so we could share them with the kids and wished we had gone for a dozen! The blueberry cale donuts were outstanding! Fresh, full of flavor and not too sweet with a perfect texture. We also ordered a long john. A few iced and a massive cinnamon roll. These yeast donuts were light and fluffy. Our son had devoured them all by the end of the day!
