Now, I'm not someone who sticks with a particular workout regimen, gyms are not my style. However, Barre3 is different. It is a combination of yoga, Pilates and barre founded by Sadie Lincoln. (Also a great listen on "How I Built This" on the origins of the company.) I've been coming here for 7 years. I've done community classes, I've bought class packages, I've done live steam and been in the studio. What I'm most thankful for is that this is a welcome, opening community. You are welcomed every time you come to the studio. Anyone is welcome to join. I've had friends join me who felt the body positivity during the class and felt welcomed. They frequently do community classes in locations like Paristown or at Work the Metal. I've enjoyed these classes too as an opportunity to share Barre3 with friends. In the spring/fall, they typically do class pack sales where I purchases classes so I can come and go as I can. I haven't done the monthly membership only because it is hard for me to go on workdays. The instructors (Abby, Mel, Kelly, Emily, Becca) have all been amazing. They have different styles and I workout something new every time. This community makes me happy and makes me feel like I belong. It has taken me so long to find a fitness community that does that for me. I have been a couple of times now and this is the only type of class that I've done here, but it is awesome! I love yoga, but always prefer something a bit more challenging so this was the perfect fit.... You will definitely be feeling it all over afterward!! The instructor has been great and will help each person in the class, no matter what their skill level is. I was definitely intimidated at first but found that both newbies and pros will be in these classes. I've seen that they also offer trampoline workouts, which is on my radar, but love the fact that they have these other unique options, too. I'll definitely be around a lot more in the future!

This is a women's fitness studio with trainers who are encouraging and supportive. There are…read moreclasses that focus on different muscles and the workouts change each month. The trainer will walk you through the exercises at the beginning of each class and then they'll turn up high energy playlists for warm ups and the workouts. There are four sections that you rotate between, each section has at least two exercises. So if you end up dreading one of the sections, you're only there for a few minutes. The trainers will take the time to help you with the exercises if you're struggling and suggest modifications to the workouts if you need them. The classes have made me much more comfortable with incorporating weights into my workouts. The only downside is that facility does not have a shower and the last classes during the week begin at 5:30 pm.

The teenager who signed us up was watching a movie on his phone and kept one AirPod in the entire time. We had to repeat ourselves multiple times because he clearly wasn't paying attention. What's even more frustrating is that we specifically told him we only wanted a month-to-month membership, yet he signed us up for a yearly contract and had us blindly sign on a singing pad. He never explained that the "monthly" membership was actually a year-long commitment. When we realized what had happened and tried to cancel, the manager and owner refused to let us out of the contract. So we have now been paying for MONTHS for a gym we haven't even been able to use because we were misled about the membership terms and then refused an opportunity to cancel. On top of that, the gym itself is dirty, and finding an employee there in the evening is practically impossible. They DO NOT answer their phone or email so don't even try calling. The combination of careless employees, poor communication, and an owner who apparently has no interest in resolving issues makes this a gym I absolutely would not recommend. Overall, this experience has felt incredibly shady and unethical. If you're considering signing up, **read every detail of your contract yourself and do not rely on the employee to explain it to you!

Both times I went, the room where they have classes was empty so you could easily do a weight workout or stretch with lots of room around you. I stayed at the Grady and they give you one free pass to Wel (after that it's 10 dollars per visit). The important thing to know is that this gym has the most limited hours that I know of in a gym. When I was in the middle of an after-work workout and heard the one hour warning at 6pm I was a little shocked. I get it, they likely have other locations with better hours, but if you're a hotel guest and are expecting a 24 hour gym, forget it. That said, I appreciated the really nice staff person that showed me around, the adaptive motion elliptical machines, clean machines, free towels and once I knew the non existent nighttime hours, I just made sure to fit in a morning workout. So, four stars!
