I come to Louisville often. So often in fact, that my daughter decided to start taking me to 502 Power Yoga since she recently became a member and loves it. My Yoga experience goes back more than 20 years and is the one exercise I keep up with regularly (even having taught a very gentle Vinyasa class for years). The one thing I had never done was HOT Yoga, because I do not like heat. Call me a Polar Bear if you like. My daughter signed us up because she loves the Hot Yoga class (a solid 95 degrees). I was a little nervous because it is a one hour 15 minute Hot Yoga Power Class. Cory, the instructor was great, very clear in her instruction and even though the class was tough, everyone is given room to take it at their own pace. Because I wasn't used to the heat I did a couple of extra child poses and down dogs. The class was fantastic, I especially loved the ice-cold lavender face towels at the end. We are going back on Friday! read more

Reconfirming that 502py is still incredible. Since my last review, they've started offering yoga retreats (Mexico and Vermont with Guatemala and Colorado coming soon). The one I attended in Tulum was truly a magical experience. It was a great balance of planned activities and downtime. I met/reconnected with some great folks, had delicious food, and had memorable experiences (swimming in a cenote, Temazcal ceremony, Mayan mud bath) all in a gorgeous setting in addition to the daily yoga practice. It's still the best yoga studio in Louisville! read more

I have enjoyed the classes I've taken at 502, but I especially enjoy Stephanie's Friday Flow class. It's transcendent. It's a pleasure to be around someone who is really good at what they do, and Stephanie is an excellent teacher. I also love Melissa for the clarity of her explanations and cues and RaVone for her focus on core. It is also so nice to get to Wednesday sunrise class and have RaVone singing and dancing behind the counter. Very inviting way to begin the day. Yoga is exactly what I needed as an aging meathead who needs flexibility and mobility help, and I'm very glad that I found 502 PY. I've only taken the power vinyasa class with Carrie and it kicks my butt every time. She's funny, kind, gives direction and will occasionally help you get a better angle/ stretch, etc. She will throw in challenging poses that I've never done in 'regular' yoga. You also earn a nice cold lavender towel at the end of class. So you will definitely get a good workout here! If you're looking for something challenging and different, consider one of their power vinyasa classes. read more

This team brings together killer sweaty workouts, meditation and stretching, and a community and teacher group that is welcoming and supportive. I practiced at 502 Power Yoga for over a year while I lived in the East End. It was a little burdensome to travel back and forth to the Highlands location on my busy schedule so I quit for a year. However, a year later I moved to the Highlands. I guess I couldn't quit 502. I was able to obtain gratitude pricing for unlimited yoga so my practice is more affordable than ever. I walk to the studio for as many classes as I can. All the instructors are friendly and knowledgeable. The assistants are not in every class, but the ones they are working provide additional support to students. As a result, students receive assistance to achieve the fullest expression of each pose. The community is great. All yogis are kind, considerate, and compassionate. I love this studio for bright colors, clean space, and unlimited support. But let me tell you the best part--after sweating and working my tush off, I am gifted a cold lavender towel. I would walk 500 miles. And I would walk 500 more for that lavender towel. It is the trophy after climbing a mountain of endurance and heat. I am stronger because of my practice at 502 Power Yoga. There are lots of yoga studios in Louisville but this is the studio for me! read more

I've recently became a member of 502 Power Yoga. I've been hesitant to ever becoming a member of a yoga studio because of the costs. It's not cheap - but it's better than what I've been doing (i.e. paying for a gym membership at $30/mon and then going once every 3 months). I did the $40 for 40 days and went like every other day until my muscles were mad at me. At the end, they gave me the 15% incentive to join - which really got me thinking about how yoga has improved the quality of the last 40 days. I've done Yoga in the past so doing power vinyasas wasn't new to me. But this studio is empowering and will make you sweat. A LOT. They don't shy away from crow poses or hand/head stands - and Iike the fact that you don't feel judged if you can't do anything because THERE ARE NO MIRRORS so you don't know what's going on around you - which is the point of yoga, right? Go become a member. You'll feel happier. And your muscles will thank you a little later ;) read more

Variety makes life interesting and I love the diversity of both 502PY clients and instructors. That said, the quality is always consistent. I'm happy to finally have found a studio where I feel comfortable and motivated. I've been wanting to get into yoga for a few years and my introduction to 502 helped seal that commitment. I loved it so much that I went twice on my first day. Then I loved it so much that after the new member 40-day period, I signed up for unlimited membership. This is the ONLY business in town where I have been offered a non-profit discount (Gratitude membership they called it). That is huge, as it speaks to their values and the role they want to play in the community. They're involved in the Africa Yoga project, the Kentucky Yoga Initiatives and their instructors teach affordable/free classes throughout town. I LOVE that the instructors walk around to observe students and offer guidance, corrections on pose instead of focusing on their own practice, during a class they're teaching. I especially love the assistants, whose loving, supportive touches are so nice! Sometimes they're like mini massages and sometimes they're tiny source of support that are so helpful. There are instructors who will push you to your limits and instructors who encourage more gentle allowance with your practice. Regardless, they're all positive and support. I'd highly recommend the new student $40 for 40 days to give you a good month plus to check out as many classes as possible and decide on the ones you like. I like them all, even though YOD always kicks my butt and some days I just need a really chill Slow Flow. The space is smaller than some others, but it's enough. There are two bathrooms for changing, always stocked with hair ties for people who perpetually forget, like me. There are mats you can rent for $3/time or you can bring your own. The room is always clean no matter how steamy the previous class is. I love the lavender scent and always look forward to the cold lavender towel at the end. read more

Today my friend gifted me a guest pass to join a virtual yoga class with 502 Power Yoga. I've gone to their in person classes before and really enjoyed it so I was excited to partake from Ohio! The classes are TOUGH but in the best way and I never feel like I *have* to do something - I always feel free and encouraged to adjust to whatever it is my body needs. I really enjoy yoga but I also enjoy a good cardio/strength sweat sesh and this checks all the boxes! 502 Power Yoga has seriously changed my life. I was a big ball of stress and anxiety when a friend invited me to try out a slow flow class. I had tried other yoga studios around town and concluded that maybe yoga wasn't for me because my mind was still racing during and after those classes. She promised 502 was different, and she was right! I was challenged, (and hot!), so I really couldn't think about anything else and at the end, felt a deep relaxation I hadn't had in a long time. I've brought what I've learned at 502 outside of the studio, breathing through the "hard stuff", and I truly believe my practice has cured my anxiety and helped eliminate symptoms caused by my chronic intestinal disease. And bonus- I'm in my mid-40s, I'm the strongest I've ever been, and I sleep like a rock every night! The instructors are incredible - so encouraging, professional and fun. I'm a "regular" at Carrie, Cat, Melissa, Cami, and Agnese's classes. I'm crying over the keyboard writing about how much these people and this place means to me. I love it so much : ) read more

I've been involved with this studio and community since almost the beginning. I was skeptical that I'd like heated classes (not as hot as Bikram) or what "power" had to do with yoga, having taking a few classes around town. I'm not a yogi--I'm really not good at holding the poses. I'm overweight, have bone spurs in my back from old car accidents, and have very little upper body strength. Know what? None of that matters here. I can be "bad" (my term) and still accepted.During my first class, we were asked to hi-five the people on either side of us. After moving through the challenging poses (modifications are provided) and inversions (no, you are not required to stand on your head unless you want to), it's time to rest. You are given a cold lavender-scented washcloth to place on your eyes and it's such a treat. There are no mirrors in the studio. Verbiage is important--you always "practice" yoga, even if you are good, all can improve. The movements are easily understood as a translated name is provided, i.e. "chair pose". There's music for some classes on Fridays, and a variety of heated and non-heated classes for all levels. You are encouraged to meet your fellow yogis, laugh when you fall out of poses and there's even a disco ball! What you get here that you can't find anywhere else though is the Community, and they are amazing--fellow yogis, teachers and other staff want to help you both on and off your mat. I asked for volunteers and got some of the most friendly, helpful and reliable folks around to assist me with events. They often volunteer their time at events such as Connecting Things and sponsor wellness programs like the free week of yoga at Rainbow Blossom. No, I'm not practicing every day, but I'm proud to call this my studio, and those people giving each other sweaty hugs? They are some of the best people in Louisville, and that I've ever met in my life. Come get on your mat (or rent one there) and give it a try. read more

I was an uninformed, self-proclaimed hater of yoga for as long as I can remember. it was too hippie, too spiritual, too intangible and esoteric for me. I went to a class with a friend long ago and the instructor said something about breathing in through one nostril towards my minds eye and out the other and I was lost. what on earth did that mean? nothing, as far as I could tell. I wanted less cerebral and more sweat, less nonsensical (to me, at least) statements and more concrete direction. I wanted a workout. fast forward many years gone by and states crossed, and I'd relocated from California to Kentucky. my body was tight and decrepit from years of running without stretching (whoops) and crunching up with anxiety. a friend recommended 502, and after many weekends of putting it off, I woke up one Sunday and went to cat's 90 minute Sunday morning class. I remember watching my SHINS sweat profusely, laughing at how ridiculous it seemed, and immediately being hooked. this is not just a yoga studio. it's a community. it's a place to work out, sweat, grow, rinse out the gross things built up inside you, make friends, get comfortable, learn to be okay with both failure and success, redefine failure and success, slip, fall out, laugh, breathe, freak out, continue, and transform. the teachers are all unique and bring something amazing to their classes. but the element I really appreciate, that I'd been missing before, is a deliberateness. they explain, in real words, what to do and why. they help you find the ground, so you can stretch out from it. they make you comfortable with where you are. they celebrate where you are. I cannot say enough good things about this place. wherever you are in your practice, go. this is the place for you and you won't regret it. read more

Absolutely cannot recommend this facility enough. I developed a medical condition called osteomyelitis and was bed ridden for 12 weeks- 8 months later i went back to my first yoga class since the condition began and it helped shift something in the problem hip area in such the best way. best alignment i've been in in a year and i can walk and sit a lot more comfortably now. very excited to go again and again and again and again ! read more

I love this studio! Every class I've been to has been different every time. I love that the teachers let you experiment on some new poses. The assistant helps you get into the pose deeper. Parking has not been a problem for me at both studios. I parked once in the neighborhood street parking and it's like less than 5 minutes to the highland studio. read more

I love this place- I just started going there and they treated me like I had been going there for years. The staff was extremely friendly, inviting and welcoming and they even accommodated my beginner yoga status. I will keep coming back as this is my new yoga home!! Parking is not that bad.
