With a combo of elements such as cardio, yoga, conditioning, and weights, I always leave feeling sore but in a good way. I started this year in January 2023 and try to go at least once a week. With my busy schedule, there are plenty of times to choose from. And while every class is essentially "different" depending on the instructor, I feel and look great once I enter the class and leave. Try their free class when you sign up and then you'll see why you should keep up with it!!

Now, I'm not someone who sticks with a particular workout regimen, gyms are not my style. However, Barre3 is different. It is a combination of yoga, Pilates and barre founded by Sadie Lincoln. (Also a great listen on "How I Built This" on the origins of the company.) I've been coming here for 7 years. I've done community classes, I've bought class packages, I've done live steam and been in the studio. What I'm most thankful for is that this is a welcome, opening community. You are welcomed every time you come to the studio. Anyone is welcome to join. I've had friends join me who felt the body positivity during the class and felt welcomed. They frequently do community classes in locations like Paristown or at Work the Metal. I've enjoyed these classes too as an opportunity to share Barre3 with friends. In the spring/fall, they typically do class pack sales where I purchases classes so I can come and go as I can. I haven't done the monthly membership only because it is hard for me to go on workdays. The instructors (Abby, Mel, Kelly, Emily, Becca) have all been amazing. They have different styles and I workout something new every time. This community makes me happy and makes me feel like I belong. It has taken me so long to find a fitness community that does that for me. I'm so glad Barre3 has been here for 7 years, and cheers and gratitude to more.

When my friend shared The Barre Code was hosting a free week of classes for their 4th anniversary,…read moreI was interested to try out the studio. My only experience with a barre class was at the Northeast YMCA and based on the website clips, these classes looked much different. It was easy to create an account and I signed up for 3 classes throughout the week. For all classes you will need toe socks. The studio sells these but you can also find them at retail stores or Amazon. Toe socks come with toes, without toes or halftime toes. It's really personal preference. My check in on the first day was super friendly. The ladies at the counter greeted me, found my name on the list and had me sign a waiver. Heather is the owner of the studio and I seen her every day I visited for classes. She made each visit personal and checked in on me before and after class. I seen her do this for several people and my friend also expressed how much she enjoyed her (as a regular at the studio). Two of my classes were barre, taught be two different instructors so I got a unique experience. I love that! One class involved 2 or 3 lb weights and a small exercise ball while the other used a band to wrap around your calves or thighs. Other tools like stretch bands and weighted bars are there for other classes. My third class was called brawl and I had no idea when I walked in that's what I signed up for. It was a kickboxing class. It was intense and the class learned a routine that left us drenched. The studio is a rectangular room with padded floors, mirrors and a ballet bar. Music and temperature is controlled (and one class called burn turns up the temp to 85!). The instructors wear a headset and you can see them as the walk around or in the mirrors. The music is kept upbeat and loud, the lights are dimmed. It's a great atmosphere for you to concentrate on the class and your well being. Free lockers are offered and bathrooms in case you need to change clothes. Set up is limited so there's no need to get to a class super early, although it's nice to relax and get a few stretches in. Packages offer a variety of options. You can do an unlimited monthly or 4-pk monthly. You can also buy a group of classes that don't require a membership and can be used over 45 days. You do not have to commit long term because a 30-day cancellation is offered. Very nice. I highly recommend this studio. Try something new and be good to yourself!

"Barre" doesn't do the full scope of workouts justice. The owner, teachers, and staff are absolutely top notch, creating such a warm, friendly, and high energy atmosphere that you want to go back to day-after-day. I went from working 10-11 hour days to "clocking out" at 4:45 to get to my Pure Barre evening classes on time. Truly life changing inside and out!!

The low impact workout challenges me and helps me gain strength every time I take a class. The 4 multiple class formats help keep variety in the workouts so there is always a challenge, and the rewards are beyond the physical transformation I've noticed. I honestly leave class in a better headspace than when I came in, and can tell such a difference in taking that hour to focus on what I can do, with adjustments as needed. The instructors all help you adjust as needed so that you can get the most out of your workout, and encourage you to push as far as is safe. If you are down they follow up with you to be sure you are doing okay, which is not something I've experienced with other exercise opportunities. I've tried so many options over the years and this has really been the best experience overall!

The trainer will walk you through the exercises at the beginning of each class and then they'll turn up high energy playlists for warm ups and the workouts. There are four sections that you rotate between, each section has at least two exercises. So if you end up dreading one of the sections, you're only there for a few minutes. The trainers will take the time to help you with the exercises if you're struggling and suggest modifications to the workouts if you need them. The classes have made me much more comfortable with incorporating weights into my workouts. The only downside is that facility does not have a shower and the last classes during the week begin at 5:30 pm.

From my orientation class to have done over 75 classes now I will say I am addicted. They come out with packages all the time and challenges so we can stock up for the year but I do recommend this Pilates establishment out of the other big name ones in town. I absolutely love this place. don't know if I'll ever stop coming here. You just can't get the same experience somewhere else. The classes are so great because they have an intercom system with them, motivating you and telling you how to do something in TVs all along the walls showing you the movement and guiding you through the steps to make sure that you are accurately doing the workout correctly. And then you have the instructors going around correcting what needs to be fixed to give you the best workout. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Right after the new year I was sent an introductory offer, which I think they are still promoting, for an introductory class and 6 additional classes for $60! The caveat is that you have to use within 2 weeks. (After the intro session classes are around $25 or less, depending on the package you select). Of course I signed up and made it my mission to complete the classes. This is a new studio, that is clean, minimalist and beautiful. The studio is tucked upstairs of the shopping center near Thierman Lane. When you enter you are immediately greeted by staff and asked for your name to sign in. Merchandise, drinks, and socks are for sale at the desk. There is a small area to hang jackets and leave shoes. They also have a changing room in case you come right after work (like I often do)! While you wait for classes to begin there is a sitting area with a couch and two comfy chairs. Then the instructor comes out and greets you about 5 minutes before the class begins and invites you inside the studio. I think there are 16 reformers in the studio about 3 feet apart from each other. The instructors are very knowledgeable and help with form and pushing you until the movement is over. They also walk around at the beginning to chat with everyone. The classes are taught with through recorded exercise classes on TVs throughout the studio. It will suggest a spring range and they explain the movement. Reformer Pilates is little movements to tone and tighter the body. I have loved getting back into the classes and look forward to many more in the future. I only wish the classes were slightly longer - they run about 40 minutes with the stretch at the end. I would highly recommend if you've never tried it or are looking for a new routine.
