His patience, willingness to "re-teach" bad habits, encouragement, and sound advice (after much of my whining) was a definitely a push in the right direction. He helped me get to the point where I even competed in my first bodybuilding competition. A glutton for *ahem* punishment, I am looking to him again to compete in my next competition. Pete's style of training and Sherry's Saturday Morning Bootcamp are the tickets to push me that much further. I could tell I was getting depressed. So I started scouting out for a new box to go to. With the help of a friend I came across CrossFit Hampton Roads. I asked the owner for a tour when no one was really around. I was having major anxiety starting up again. Not exactly sure why, but I know my physical appearance plays a large role with it. Lindsay was accommodating immediately. I loved what I saw. The feeling I got when I walked back into the door was awesome. I knew right away that this is what my life needed. I knew I would hopefully get in by March after Spring break. Well it turns out I went to my first WOD at the end of April. I felt like I fit in immediately. I was not too nervous. It was like riding a bike again. I have chosen to scale as much as possible until I get get back to where I was. I did not feel ashamed to scale either. The location is great as well. I love that there is a lot of female coaches. Lindsay has already had two eating challenges/activities. I participated in the first which was the 800g challenge. I throughly enjoyed that! I love that she has things other than workouts. CrossFit is a wonderful atmosphere with wonderful people. You become friends then family. Overall a wonderful location, and I love what I see. I can not sit to get stronger mentally and physically.

I have been doing CF since 2008 and I travel frequently and get to visit several boxes around the country and CF Hampton Roads made me feel at home as soon as I walked in the door. The coach made sure to that everybody introduced themselves to me since we had a smaller class for the day. The facility is large and clean with plenty of equipment (rowers, airdynes, kettlebells of various weights, etc). The coaches are very knowledgeable and understand the reasoning for their programming. I asked several questions on their OPT-style of programming and was very impressed on the answers. They understand energy systems training, which few gyms I've visited truly understand. The coaches also provide informed warm ups and mobility geared towards the WOD--nothing extraneous. If you're in the Hampton Roads area, definitely stop by for a WOD!

I signed up for this online free programming full of bodyweight workout I could do at home just to see what they offer. I never got to the workouts but I did look over them and liked them. About a week and a half later, I received an email from Dianne(the gym's owner). She wasn't pushy about me coming in and seemed genuinely interested in me as a person. I met her on a Saturday while running errands. Her and I talked about my goals, what I'm hoping to get out of her gym, what i'm looking for, and what the gym offers. All of it was amazing and I had such a good feeling from the gym. Upon entering the gym with her, the nutrition coach complimented me on my Lululemon shorts. This was a big bonus because we talked about why the clothes are worth the price and how it impacts a workout-when women feel good, they do good. In addition, I noticed someone had brought their dog and Dianne made sure to tell me dogs are welcome as long as they don't distract from the workout. As a woman who loves her dog, this was an awesome surprise! She also mentioned they have open gym and the "intro" class isn't some super long drawn-out course. I loved all of it. I tried out a workout the next day and LOVED IT. The coaches were helpful with ensuring everyone in the class had correct form and knew how to do each movement properly. They also made sure everyone in the class knew proper progressions and regressions for each movement. Me and Buddy(my dog) can't wait to join! He loved it as well.

They have just about anything here! They have tons of rooms with various equipment. They have free…read moreweight sections, machines, a little "lounge" area with sofas, a basketball court, a warrior course, a big turf area, a sauna, yoga/dance room, child/parent workout room, racquetball courts, combatives room, spin cycle room. The staff is also usually super friendly especially in the mornings! It does tend to get quite busy as everyone gets off of work so as long as you avoid that time you should get a chill workout in. They have a few classes that they offer here like CrossFit. I will say the bathrooms aren't always the cleanest so I don't know if I would recommend showering here. They have bathrooms when you walk in and then they have locker rooms by the basketball court and more as you walk into the gym. They also have separate locker rooms for senior officers. They have certain hours where everyone is allowed in but after that they do 24 hour passes. Just go and talk to the staff about it and bring your CAC and they will give you a 24 hour swipe card to get into the gym after hours! EDIT: At the moment the 24 hour gym door is broken which is really unfortunate so they aren't doing that anymore, you have to go during hours and Saturdays+Sundays are closed now too. One downside is that they don't have a pool.

(I can play a mean game of HORSE if anyone is interested...) This place is a bit of a maze so it may take a few trips to figure it all out. No pool here anymore so if you want to swim you'll have to go to the main gym. Also, no snack bar so the main gym is where it's at for delicious smoothies after a workout. Their team placed second…read moreoverall in the women's RX division, except the gym tallied the scores off of the first workout only, resulting in a completely wrong podium. They fully announced all the teams and gave awards to a wrong 2nd place team, and when this issue was brought to the owners attention it was totally dismissed. Instead of owning up to the mistake, announcing the real leaderboard and handing out the trophies to the correct team they did nothing and gave my friend a 2nd place wooden trophy from an old competition from 2019. The owner is extremely unprofessional and this entire situation was handled terribly. Even more insult to injury she proceeded to post every division on instagram and totally left out the female RXS division because she won't admit to fault, so none of those women who competed and podiumed got recognition. My friend commented on one of the events posts asking about the women's RX division and the owner hid the comment. My friend and her teammate paid over $200 for this competition, it's unacceptable.

The classes are overcrowded and it's way too expensive for what's being offered. You can get much more in a different location. Their trainers get paid for getting people to come in so my friends are constantly getting a text to bribe them with a free month, etc.
