I came here with my coworkers for a team building activity. I use to be a member of pure barre Walnut Creek when Danielle was the owner but discontinued my membership after it was franchised and I can say the classes are very different now. The vibes are also different but I had a good time with my coworkers. The teacher went a little fast with her instructions and when asked to grab equipment, we grabbed a ball and loop but only ended up using a loop. Front desk area was clean and cute and had plenty of seats while you wait for class to start. They also have cubbies for you to store your items. read more

I checked out Pure Barre off Fair Oaks Blvd because I had a free 1 class trial and was craving Barre, but my gym doesn't offer Barre Class that fit with my schedule. Pro's: -Clean, modern facility -friendly, encouraging instructors that call you by name and privately fix your form if it needs correction -They have evening and weekend classes for those that work during the weekdays Cons (and this is a major con): The price. No other Yelpers mention how much it costs. But, it is very expensive. Monthly unlimited access is $179 (last month was $143), once a week class is $79, a single class is $30 (their rival, The Dailey Method only charges $25). I get unlimited access at my local gym (pool, weight room, cardio room, and all group fitness classes) at only $49 per month. Also, the baldheaded gentleman by the name of Mel. I think he is the manager or owner of this studio is really pushy and tries to get new members to start paying the $143 monthly fee (now $179) right after the first free class. It made me feel really taken aback, shocked, and uncomfortable. I thought I would other potential new members who want to take the first free class or let Kristen, the owner of this studio know, so that she can talk to Mel and ask him to tone down his pushyness because it could turn away or turn off potential new clients. I know it did for me. Luckily, my local YMCA did tell me they are going to start offering evening Barre Classes so I don't have to spend absurd amounts of money on a membership here. read more

Read Pure Barre's 6-page contract very carefully and make sure you understand the fine print before you sign it. I did Barre3 for a couple of years and loved it, so I signed up for one unlimited month of classes at Pure Barre to try it out. After taking 4 or 5 classes, I decided it was not for me. The problems began when I tried to cancel my membership. I sent an email asking to cancel and was told I'd have to pay for a second month - $179 - even though I was not going to attend another class. I had made the mistake of not reading the fine print in the contract, which demands a 30-day written notice to cancel. Of course, that would have required me to give notice on the very day I signed up! The upshot is, there is no way to try out Pure Barre for just a month without getting penalized and having to pay for a second month. I asked if they would at least downgrade my membership to a less expensive one, but Alex Wright, who owns the Pure Barre studios, refused. He also refused to pro-rate that second month even though I had given notice nine days before the end of my membership term. All because I didn't read the contract. A nasty, expensive lesson learned! read more

I'm really enjoying my time here. Having the instructors give you feedback and help you get proper form is extremely helpful. I'm growing to love getting in some low impact work outs throughout my week. I always skip out on core at the gym so it's great that the classes focus on this area too. I can tell I'm getting stronger as time progresses! Honestly all the teachers are great but Jamie is one of my favorite teachers! You go girl! Side note, pure barre socks are superior to all other sticky socks. Bought a pack from Amazon and they do not compare. Lulu lemons come in close second but they aren't as cute! read more

Do not recommend! Be very very careful about reading the agreement before signing up. You need to provide 30 day written notice to cancel. I didn't realize and tried to cancel with 25 days notice and they wouldn't honor it. So I'm basically paying for a month and a half of non use. An expensive, disappointing lesson. In my opinion, not a very good business practice as I will be deinfluencing anyone from Purebarre that I come across in Sacramento and the Bay Area. read more

I'm new to barre and it's a struggle because of my physical limitations, but this place is changing my life for the better. Each class, I feel slightly closer to my flexibility and strength goals and I feel teary eyed almost every time knowing that I'm finally able to move my body in ways that I previously couldn't. The staff here is amazing. Literally amazing. Super supportive, friendly and knowledgeable. I'm so happy to have found something that helps push me out of my comfort zone. I've come a long way from being wheelchair bound and bedridden. This place is a blessing and I look forward to more classes to come. read more

I absolutely love the quality of fitness instruction here. I also frequently log into Yelp to post amazing reviews of my favorite places. My experience at Pure Barre Sacramento today could not possibly go un-noted for the public, so I am posting this review for those who might be considering attending classes here. Disclaimer: my one star review is solely based on the below: -A few months back, we were able to wear a mask coming into the gym and once we got to our socially distanced stations, we could take off our mask. I loved the quality of instruction and the ability to breathe oxygen while I worked out. I attended classes in this fashion (mask off at the stations only) on 10/9/21, 10/24/21, 10/30/21 and 11/21/21. -Fast forward to today: the county's restrictions allow for gyms to be open with distancing, and we are no longer in the "purple" level of restriction. I went in for my workout today and noticed that the gym was forcing everyone to wear a mask even while at their socially distanced stations. I decided to stay for the class and see if I might be able to work out with a mask on. 20 minutes into the class, my hands and feet started to tingle and I was not able to breathe at all. I needed to take my mask off or I would actually pass out and the studio would need to call an EMT. Considering this something that needed to be taken care of, I went into the lobby to notify the person working at the front desk. This person promptly declared that there was no way that I could take my mask off, WHILE NOT WEARING A MASK HIMSELF and not putting one back on, and simply invited me to "leave or just go back in and continue working out", since "masks do not restrict our breathing at all". Nobody asked me if I am vaccinated, or if I might be able to enjoy the same maskless privileges as the front desk employee. Suffice to say, I will NOT be coming back at any point to this excuse of a gym. This is not a facility that cares about your health. **Update after the comments from the GM in the comments below** Below, you will see a sad excuse of a reply from the General Manager, in a snarky reply which asserts that she hopes I do not "have any long-term effect from [my] temporary lack of oxygen". After she left the comment below, she restricted my ability to comment back. So professional, Kristen! She also says that she would like to have talked to me before I posted a Yelp review. I talked to everyone I could find in the studio, face to face, when I had the chance (only the front desk employee was present). I was not going to make a scene in the actual class, as that would have been rude to the others taking the class. I hope the leadership can find it within themselves to figure out a better business model according to the actual county covid guidance, before people faint in the actual studio and DO have long term effects of their oxygen loss. read more

Classes were fine. I would have liked a longer warm up so my muscles felt more ready before getting into the workout. Teachers are great. However, trying to cancel your membership here is an absolute nightmare. I've been trying for multiple weeks and can't get a straight answer from anyone. My membership was set to restart on February 23, and for some reason I got charged today (January 23), even though I sent multiple requests to cancel (in several different ways). I'm really disappointed, as it seems they want to force you into keeping the membership by trying to make it as difficult as possible to cancel. read more

Great studio and experience! Very well trained and consistent instructors...no matter which day or class, expect to have a well planned and new routine. I like that the classes are under an hour, don't require too much coordination (for those with two left feet like me), and have great music. The location is easy to find and always seems to have plenty of parking. I also like that its mostly core and toning work so I can come to class, get a great little workout and head back to work. (I rarely sweat in these classes but I do feel like I worked the next day!) *only tip I'd say to staff is to make sure the bathroom is kept as clean and tidy as the rest of the studio. Some basic information first: Pure Barre is located towards the back and in the center of a big complex (the complex has a circular shape). There's plenty of parking all over the place, but finding Pure Barre itself may be a challenge the first time (I mention this because it was for me!). The studio has cold water inside, so bring an empty water bottle and you're good to go! In addition, there is plenty of clean equipment, and everyone wipes down the equipment they used at the end of each class. It is very sanitary. There is one bathroom with tampons inside. There is no shower. The bathroom can pose an issue when multiple people need to use it. Barre socks are *required* here, so before you visit, make sure you bring them - otherwise, you can buy them in the studio. I believe the pair I purchased was $18. My personal experience with Pure Barre I found Pure Barre through Groupon and purchased the 10 class package. I was surprised by the socks rule and couldn't find the studio the first day (which motivated me to write this review!), but other than that I had an awesome experience here. I've seen instructors discussing medical issues and troubleshooting issues with members before and after classes. I personally have had a mixed experience with the instructors - never *bad*, but some instructors are more to themselves than others. Speaking solely to my personal experience, Erin (I don't know her last name) is absolutely WONDERFUL. I met her the first day I attended classes, and she was incredibly helpful and engaging. Her classes are also AMAZING. There's another instructor whose name I don't remember, but she has long brown hair and huge eyes. She's also an amazing instructor. I ran into her at a cafe and she remembered my name and we chatted. This is a studio that really cares about their clients. If you're looking for hands-on, one on one attention in a relaxed, caring environment, this is the studio for you. If I didn't live in San Francisco (I'm only working in Sac over the summer), I'd commit to Pure Barre. read more

It took me a long time to find my perfect work out place. After 2 years of living in Sacramento, I stumbled upon Pure Bure when I was at the Pavilions eating dinner. I signed up and was immediately hooked. I have tried many gyms/work out places in Sacramento and I have to say this place feels like a family. The owners Kristen and Alex are very nice and flexible. They work with you to find the perfect package. Also my friend was late once and Kristen personally called her to invite her back. All the instructors are so good and actually goes around to make sure you have the right form. They also offer fun little events sometimes, unfortunately with my work schedule I have never been able to attend. I am moving soon and am so sad I have to find a new work out place. read more

I wasn't in search of a workout but my mom found Pure Barre a few years ago and after trying a class with her I was hooked! The workouts are low impact and effective. I had surgery 3 years before my first barre class and was occasionally feeling some pain but now, 4 years into classes and 7 years post surgery, my pain is nearly gone and I thank PB For that! I just finished my 10-class Groupon so I wanted to leave my review :) this review may be helpful for anyone thinking about trying Pure Barre who has no Barre experience. I personally had very little knowledge about Barre prior to coming here. I had taken one Barre class at a place called Cardio Barre in LA over 6 years ago. What initially got me interested in Barre was some recent knee injuries. I had taken time off my current workout routine to recover and was recommended Barre by my physical therapist. I assumed I would survive since I considered myself a somewhat athletic person. I was a college softball pitcher (back in the day) and I've been lifting weights and running for 5 years. How hard could it be, right??? I was so wrong. Barre is a whole fitness category of its own. It works muscles you didn't even know you had. Your past athletic history won't necessarily translate to "being good" at Barre. Don't feel bad though! As uncoordinated as you feel after your first class, you WILL improve over time. I decided to wait until I took all 10 classes before I wrote my review because I wanted it to be as accurate as possible. My first class didn't go so well, mostly because I felt very discouraged. I knew I would stick it out and I'm glad I did because each class got better and better! I now leave class feeling AMAZING. The reason I love Barre so much is because 1) The longest and most intense parts of the class last no longer than 5 minutes, giving you plenty of stretch and recovery time. If you added up the amount of time you spend stretching and working on flexibility, it would probably equate to 10-15 of the 50 minutes. This has made me really appreciate stretching! It feels great and it's so important for your body. 2) All classes are very similar so you can start to get the hang of sequences of the choreography. The first few classes you will feel lost (make sure you are in the front, closest to the instructor) but after that you'll catch on. 3) It has made me realize how incorrect my posture has been and how weak my core is. Working on these two things alone has improved my form outside of Barre and eliminated any pain I was experiencing because of my poor form. I wish I had realized these things years ago! My tips for new people would be to go to classes at unpopular times to get the smallest class size possible. This will allow you to get more attention from the instructor and really work on your form. Always sit close to where the instructor sits, not in the back corner, because you won't be able to see her and she won't be able to see or help you. Definitely get a pair of their Pure Barre socks!!!! Regular socks don't help you at all in class. My only constructive criticism would be that the class isn't set up with different "levels" of difficulty or "options" like yoga. Most of the time I am NOT as flexible as the instructor and can't look like she does in the mirror, but then I'm not really sure how to modify to get the same effect. Yes I could ask during the class but that can be difficult, especially in a big class. Yes I could ask after but when it's for MANY exercises it's not easy to remember what we did so that I can ask later. Other than that, I've loved Barre and I'm hoping to continue going (budget-permitting)! All of the instructors have been AWESOME - I was able to take classes with Christina, Tori, Zuzu, Erin, Janel, and Juliette. They have all made a conscious effort to learn my name. I've taken barre on and off throughout the years to supplement my weight training and this studio is by far the best! Great instructors that are always encouraging and welcoming. The clients are all super nice unlike some studios which feel clickie! They have a great selection of apparel as well! I can't say enough about how much I love Pure Barre Sacramento. I have been taking barre classes on and off for 8 years and have never found a studio that I love this much or have been excited to attend so consistently. The teachers are enthusiastic, encouraging, and attentive to form and modifications to ensure that everyone is not only being challenged, but ensuring that there isn't a risk for injury. I have been taking Pure Barre classes for almost a year now. To start off there is 5 'Sacramento' locations and if you purchase an unlimited monthly class it works at all of these studios. I mainly go to the Pavilions location because it is only about 5 min away from Sacramento State and my house. The workout itself is exactly what I need for my knee and back problems. The instructors are very knowledgeable and will help you modify the exercises to cater to what your body needs. They are very open to new comers who don't have experience with this type of workout, they now offer "Foundation" classes designed to ease newcomers into the choreography involved in the class. The owners are friendly and understanding. I went on a vacation for a week and they were able to push my billing date back a week when I asked which I really appreciated being that I am a college student. I love how pure barre has helped me tone my body! 10/10 recommend trying it out! read more

This is a great workout studio. The teachers are super nice, know who you are, and do a good job of correcting your form during class. The workout is pretty intense, good for strength building. A lot of the exercises work areas that are good for runners. The studio itself it beautiful and very clean. Also, great merchandise out front. As a loyal PB person for 6 years, I was devastated when I moved to Sacramento and there was no Pure Barre! So I was super excited when this location opened. Warm and welcoming instructors and studio! I have been to a few barre studios and this one just clicked for me the most. I love the workouts and the instructors are great about correcting form (so important!) and motivating you during the workout. They keep adding new classes and challenges to keep you motivated to go as well which is really helpful to keep your fitness goals in check. The studio is beautiful and unlike many other workout studios in the area...LOTS of parking! It also doesn't hurt that they have cute workout clothes and accessories to peruse before/after your workout. :) Highly recommend! read more
