Every morning when we walk in, my daughter is greeted with so much love from Miss Emily. They even talk about Miss Emily's four cats, which always brings a smile to my daughter's face and makes her feel so comfortable and connected. Throughout the day, Mrs. Chelsie often stops by her classroom to visit, take pictures, and share updates with me, which means so much. As a single mom and a natural worrier, having that consistent communication gives me such peace of mind. I genuinely have no worries when my daughter is at Stepping Stone. They truly treat us like family with daily updates, check-ins, and even phone calls when my daughter misses a day to make sure everything is okay. At Stepping Stone, my child is never forgotten and is always well cared for by every teacher she encounters. Mrs. Melissa has also left a lasting impression on my baby girl. Even after transitioning classrooms, she continues to check in on her, making sure she's doing well and thriving. I am incredibly grateful for the love, care, and dedication shown to my daughter and our family. Stepping Stone School is truly a special place.

In my experience, supervision has often seemed inconsistent, and I have personally felt uneasy about how safety situations were handled. On one occasion, my child managed to leave the classroom area unnoticed, which was extremely upsetting. While staff responded once they were aware, I was left feeling that better safeguards were needed. During another incident a few years ago, I witnessed a staff disagreement that happened in front of families. It was very uncomfortable and left me questioning how well the administration manages staff and parent communication. In my opinion, classrooms often appear overcrowded and understaffed. I've observed one teacher overseeing a large group of children, and I've heard staff express frustration about not having enough help. Because of this, I've felt that my children weren't receiving the attention or care I would expect, especially given the cost of tuition. My younger child often came home needing a diaper change after long days, which made me concerned about how often he was being checked. Despite bringing this up with leadership multiple times, I didn't notice improvement. On another occasion, he was hurt while playing, and I felt that the follow-up communication could have been handled more carefully. I've also noticed several facility issues -- such as unlocked windows and peeling paint -- that made me uneasy. When I mentioned these to the director, I didn't feel confident that they were promptly addressed. Over the past year, I've been contacted by licensing agencies and have also reached out to the corporate office myself because I felt local leadership was not resolving issues effectively. In my opinion, the facility's priorities seem to focus more on image and parent reviews than on meaningful changes to support children and teachers. I was even asked to post a positive review, which made me uncomfortable given my experience. For a program that is among the most expensive in the area, I expected a safe, nurturing, and well-managed environment. Unfortunately, my personal experience has been the opposite -- disorganized classrooms, inconsistent supervision, and leadership that feels overwhelmed. Parents considering this center should, in my opinion, visit in person, ask questions about safety procedures and staffing, and make an informed decision based on what they see and feel comfortable with. We were starting to get discouraged that there weren't any good daycare's out there, and then we found Kiddie Academy. The staff is friendly, the teachers are energetic and very attentive to the kids, the facility is clean and perfect for the constant changing needs of kids as they grow, and on top of all that you get camera access to see your kid whenever you want!

For $99, I got a 2-hour (well, 2.5 hour) private lesson with Amanda, where I learned how to throw on a wheel and even had the opportunity to create my own piece. Amanda herself is very warm, talented, and a great teacher. She was very encouraging during more challenging parts and stepped in to save the piece. She took the time to teach me certain concepts and terms. The experience felt like learning from an expert friend. A nice touch, too, was that she offered to take photos as I worked on the wheel. At first, I was not very interested, but there is now awesome documentation of my work, including some amusing videos. If video/photos are not your jam, you certainly don't have to do it. But I am grateful that she suggested it because I wouldn't have these awesome pictures as a nice souvenir. I ultimately made 2 pieces. For an extra $15, Amanda will glaze and fire your piece, which you can pick up about a month later. Such a unique, fun experience. I'd highly recommend checking out her studio and lessons.

The safety, love, and education the girls felt every day is something most working parents can only dream of replicating outside their home at this level, and something that every child should have the privilege of experiencing. To start, before choosing this school I had…read moreinitially done my own extensive research in Montessori education curriculum as well as individual schools in my area. The idea was to find a safe environment where lots of play happens but education is also a priority. With that being said I should also state my daughter who turned three the first day of school had never been in a daycare or school system. She has always been kept home and has limited experience with any out of home programs, so obviously I kept that in mind when choosing Montessori and made sure they were informed of this after choosing. At the start everything was fine, the "play date" they set up before your child's first day of school was a glorified check drop off at best. They ask some questions and let them play with a group of kids on the playground. The school is extremely small with only two class rooms that split ages from under three and over three. The over three class room ages probably ranging from 3-5 from what I could tell, each class having 4 teachers each. All in all my daughter seemed excited, we were excited everything seems great, moving on. The first week comes and goes with only a few hiccups to our knowledge other than some potty accidents. My daughter had just turned three and had been potty trained almost two months before we started something every teacher was made aware of. Here comes week two, we are are happy going to school, happy during pick up. There's absolutely no inclination to us that she is unhappy. At most the "observational feedback" the teachers would give us was positive with the occasional "we need to work on this but otherwise today was good". Great we can do that! By Thursday of week three, one of the four teachers I rarely saw or spoke to is now telling me my daughter is saying she's unhappy, that she doesn't like to sit for lessons and that they think she is not a good fit and "needs more movement". They asked if she acts sad to come to school, I said quite the opposite and I had almost three weeks worth of before school photos and videos of her singing, smiling and ready to go. I asked when she acted that way and it typically always revolved around being told to do or not do something..... interesting right? That a three year old would be unhappy with authority. By the way all these things we WANT to work on with her. After this meeting I took the "need for more movement" seriously and signed her up for after school dance classes and TOT basketball to help but by Friday of week four I'm getting a call at work that my child is not a fit for their school and we needed to find alternative care. While they state in the phone conversations and emails that they're doing what is best for the child I really don't see how you even had time to understand what that means for her. My child was expected in 15 school days to adapt to a brand new environment, brand new people and schedule seamlessly to a standard we were never even made aware of and really going against everything Montessori philosophy is built on. I specifically chose Montessori for the hands on and active approach knowing my child would enjoy and need movement, either this school has its own idea of Montessori or they're not equipped for the classroom age ranges and individual needs. I especially don't see how any child who is hyperactive or on the spectrum would thrive. The one positive and reason for the two stars was Ms Quanesha! They had a bunch of wood block prints of the same guy who did the famous print of a tsunami wave crashing in front of Mount Fuji. Cool! The gallery had thoughtfully placed interpretive signs throughout the gallery talking about the significance of the pieces and a bit of info about each piece, along with the artists' names, and the media used. They also had a separate area for a specific artist, where they could spread out and show off a variety of works in 2 and 3 dimensions. There was an attendant on duty, but she kept to herself, other than welcoming me in, and thanking me for stopping by. Near the exit, scope out the free stuff! Instead of a store, they just ask for a small donation- I got a bunch of postcards, a few books, and a pencil! Score! The gallery is a quiet respite from the student union. It has limited seating, and I'm not sure if this is an appropriate place to bring a book and read for hours. But if you just need a change of pace after getting lunch at the student union, this is a great place to check out. It's free!

It may cost a little more but with brands like Columbia, Jansport, and Under Armor, I think it's worth it. I also this it's great how many Aggie written books you can find here. They often host book signings by former classmen who have authored books. With the remodeling of the MSC, a full size convenient store and a Starbucks with lounge have been added. Really great place to take visitors. Fair warning on gamedays though... the place gets extremely packed, but thankfully they set up line control at the registers so help get people on their way.
