Prior to moving some money over to Merrill Lynch (ML) I was managing my own money picking stocks etc and doing quite well. I got busy with work that didn't allow me to actively take charge of my investments like I used to so I decided to move it over to ML. Long story short what I experienced was returns are below average and fees are well well above average. Their customer service and responsiveness is generally pretty good, but when it came to moving my money out it's been a royal pain in the @$$. Never doing business at this money center again and I'll stick with my tried and true Capital Group (American Funds) which over the past 30 years has produced consistent returns and low fees.
