She was truly able to capture our relationship authentically, and for that we will be forever grateful. My fiancé and I are not terribly comfortable in front of a camera, so we were nervous about our engagement session. Courtney instantly put us at ease--she's professional but also very warm, personable, flexible, and easy-going. She had really creative ways to pose us that seemed funny in the moment but resulted in gorgeous, natural-looking photos. (For instance, she kicked off the session by having us look at each other and answer the question "who is the better cook?" It got us talking and laughing!) The photos she delivered (on time, of course) were a mix of beautiful, classic-looking portraits and delightful candids of us being our goofy selves. Ahead of time, she also sent tips for what to wear, which were incredibly helpful. The session also gave us an unexpected opportunity to see Courtney's ability to improvise. We were supposed to do the shoot at a park along the Russian River, but when my fiancé and I got there early we realized that the park's closing time online did not match what was posted at the site and that the parking lot (there was no street parking) would close halfway through our session. I called Courtney and she quickly suggested that we meet in downtown Healdsburg instead and do the session walking around downtown. We appreciated her ability to think on her feet and come up with a plan that was better than the one we'd made to begin with! The Russian River location had been our idea, but downtown Healdsburg gave us such a cool variety of scenery to work with. Weddings often don't go as planned (or so I hear...) and I'm confident that Courtney would be able to handle any last-minute wedding day changes with grace and ingenuity. Of all the portfolios we looked at (and we looked at MANY), Anne-Claire's was the only one that fit the style and attention to detail we were looking for, and working with her did not disappoint. All of our photos came out STUNNING, and she made absolute magic out of our couple portraits, which had to be taken entirely indoors due to the pouring rain the night of our wedding. She has such a good eye for light and framing, it was hard to narrow down favorites from either shoot because we loved SO MANY of our photos! After having a great call with him to go over our vision and how he works with us to make it happen, he gave us a worksheet to fill out. The worksheet was very important in the planning process and helped us choose songs and music for all the particular moments of the day (many things we hadn't even thought about before looking over this worksheet). Dan came for a site visit so he knew what type of equipment he'd need and to understand the flow of the day. He set up and handled all of the speakers, microphones and equipment. If you want the longer version, keep reading... :) So, just over a year and a half ago, my (now) husband and I got engaged and I knew right away that photography would be one of the most important elements of our wedding. Almost as soon as we got engaged, I began the hunt for the perfect photographer and we luckily stumbled across Nirav's work. We were immediately enamored with it, how he is able to capture and perfect seemingly peaceful moments framed and executed in a way only a practiced fine art photographer can. We loved his ability to fall into the background and capture sweet and candid moments of his subjects. So mere weeks after we were engaged, we booked Nirav, and my husband and I are SO glad we did. A few months before our wedding, we met Nirav for our engagement shoot and he immediately put us at ease - we had never had photos taken of us before so it took a little getting used to. By the end of the session, Nirav genuinely seemed like a friend we had known for far longer than a couple hours. Not to mention the pictures came out amazingly - they not only make us look good, but they also beautifully captured the scenery around us. Fast forward to the day of our wedding. Nirav was patient, diligent, and knew exactly what he was doing.
