Never having been one to buy into the corporate salons with their overpriced products and cookie-cutter hair dressers; I sought guidance from 'Yelp!' and came across the 'SalonTodd' site. Not being easily swayed by stranger's comments online, I reviewed the photographs instead. What I saw is a charismatic, professional man who has a love for life and people. This energy is what I was seeking to bring about change to my look. Making an appointment online took seconds and within 48-hours I found myself walking into the most charming hair studio in downtown Stuart. Todd greeted me as if we were lifelong friends and wisped me into a chair within minutes. After running his fingers through my hair, examining my skin tone and facial features - he spoke a lot of stylist verbiage - then went to work on his new 'canvass'. Todd took my 14-years of partial highlight after partial highlights and turned them into an awe defining palette of shimmering colors with deep natural looking undertones that took my breath away. Never have I experienced such brilliance by a stylist! With a stroke of a brush through your hair he alters the drab into fab leaving one looking and feeling ten years younger! I was told to pay upfront to secure my appointment which I have not done before but did anyway. ($450.00) I was feeling confident after we went over my history and the goal of growing out my hair after losing my long hair from medication , and how traumatizing it was for me. He showed me some hair extensions and we agreed to do the color correction first and come back if that was the route I wanted to go in. I was just finally able to make a 2 inch ponytail. The color process didn't give the result we went for and he told me to come back in a week to change it. He then dried my hair and since my hair is curly, we discussed how no one should cut curly hair wet since it shrinks. He then "trimmed " it. I was told that my hair was in good condition and thought he was simply shaping or trimming the ends since we had spoken at length my goal of growing it out as curly hair is hard to style short. My appointment ran an hour over and I was 6 weeks post-op from a spinal fusion so the pain was definitely creeping up. When I was spun around and saw the sides were short and couldn't even be tucked behind my ears, I started to get anxious and I was wanting to just get out and go home. I never got to see the back of my hair and now I know why he never offered me a mirror. When I got in my car I was stunned. I went straight home and looked in the mirror to see that he had cut my hair so short that it was 1-2 inches! I can't describe the anger and pain that I felt. I spent that evening crying myself to sleep on the couch because I didn't want my husband to look at me. I have seen 4 Stylists only to be told that my hair is too short for extensions and will be for 6 months or more. No one can believe how bad both the color and cut are. I have been telling my story to as many people as I can in hopes that no one will have to go through the emotional trauma that I am because I went through losing my hair once and to have someone deliberately do this is beyond comprehension. If he knew what I go through everyday trying to find a hat or wig or strong enough hair products to keep my curly hair from standing up straight, he would hopefully listen to clients instead of talking over them in order to brag on himself. I thought when I saw how tiny his salon was, having one chair and having to go outside and back in another door to a public restroom while in a cape and hair foils, that he would be solely focused on his one and only client, but I was so wrong in so many ways to trust this person. I wish I could provide pictures so that there would be absolutely no way to rebut or defend himself. My physical pain has been terrible after surgery but my emotional pain has been the equivalent.

I chose this stylist because most reviews were favorable, but I should have believed the negative ones. When I picked my daughter up and saw her braids, I was upset that what started out as neat, small-medium braids in the back, ended up in fat, large braids at the top. When I questioned Ms. Sandra, she made an excuse about the parts being the same but the thickness of the hair being different. I didn't think what she did was worth the $300+ she charged. After giving her a tip (I did not feel she earned it), my daughter described her experience in this woman's chair. Apparently, she spent the entire time braiding my daughter's hair while also trying to evangelize her and convert her to the Jehovah's Witness belief. If I had know this woman was a Jehovah's Witness, I never would have brought my daughter there. Thankfully, I raised my child to be polite and respectful because she quietly listened to this woman's twisted faith and even when my daughter tried to change the conversation or read the book she had brought with her, Ms. Sandra quickly turned it back to her "witnessing." This kind of business should tell people up front that coming here will be the same thing as letting a Jehovah's Witness into your home for an afternoon. If you are fine with that kind of aggressive witnessing that has no real basis in the Word of God, then by all means, visit this establishment. As a person, Ms. Sandra is sweet and kind, and very accommodating. I just wish she would not mix her religion with her business. It is an absolute turn-off. Who wants to spend hours stuck in a chair, listening to rubbish? We will not be going back.
