By 6/30 Tuesday at 8AM, there was a plumber over to assess the situation. Then a remediation team arrived later that day. The home was remediated and cleaned up for a few days. Their attention to detail even with the plastic draping to protect the contents inside the home was very much appreciated. Nate came out and was able to get our hot water working but the valve needed replacing and so did another older pressure valve connected to the city line. Instead of charging us weekend fees they were able to schedule is on Monday for regular rates and no additional trip fee. Regular M-F trip fee is $89. All work is trip fee plus the repair. Rick showed up on Monday and rock starred the repairs. According to my plumber friend their rates are reasonable so we'll be saving them for any future work.

I chose to reach…read moreout to B&L Plumbing since the Google reviews seemed promising. $89 for the visit, and the technician is having trouble with the tight bends in the pipes of my shower drain. $265 for about half an hour trying to clear a clog using their auger without success. Technician wants to cut a hole in the wall behind the shower to try to get into the pipes another way, for another $400+. They cut into my wall and find that the piping isn't what they expected and they can't find the vent pipe they were looking for. Thankfully the extra $400+ charge was cleared from the invoice, but I'm told they'll need to run back to the office after taking pictures and alluded to the need for a complete removal of the enclosing shower walls to take out the shower pan. Said they'll call me back to go over the next steps. A week goes by and I've heard nothing. After spending more than $300 and *still* having to put up with a clogged shower drain, I try taking matters into my own hands again. One pump with a plunger, and the clog is gone. Wish I'd tried that before I asked for a plumber to come by. The pricing isn't outrageous and the technician was polite, but the lack of follow-up for what turned out to be a simple fix has cemented a poor experience.
