We had a temporary membership…read morefor a trial class and later joined membership through the customer service desk, but they created a new record rather than deleting old temporary ones or merging them. Then they gave us membership cards with wrong spelling of our names and would not correct them when we asked. I tried to sign up for a class and pay the fee for members but was overcharged despite what was being advertised as the price on the flyers and course catalog. We went back and spoke with a different person to credit us the overcharge. But he would not credit us the amount nor would he look into what the issue was (why we were charged the different amount). He just said the price is different than advertised. Jeff said he would take down the flyers advertising the "wrong" price but he never did. Since we were not reimbursed the overpayment we opted instead to just drop the class and get the whole fee reimbursed. We were told in the future we could do it online because classes were listed there, but when we checked, our membership record did not have any of our classes listed. I assume they were on the other "records" with our names in the system instead. Later when signing our child up for a different class, yet another lady at the front desk was rude. She said the class is in a few minutes so we might not be able to get in if it's no longer listed on the computer. I had already confirmed with the instructor that there was room in the class and that we could in fact sign up that day and had written confirmation. However, Beth said it does not matter what the instructor says. I have no idea what the point of her saying that was because she did in fact accept my payment for the class registration. So there should never have been an issue. She also said we have four records in the system but she did not offer to merge them, delete them or help in any way with what we are supposed to do about that. It would be helpful to train customer service how to be polite with customers and also to problem solve and correct things that don't seem right (wrong charges or duplicate records) even if it means taking the extra time to go to their supervisors to get help rather than ignore issues that customers are having.

I just want to swim. Why do they not offer a discounted membership for people with disabling health issues? It's not as if I would be able to utilize all the GYM offers. I don't want free. I just want to pay for the services people like me can use. I don't need treadmills, weights, or an elliptical. Doesn't seem too unreasonable to me.

Anytime fitness is always clean, and has 4 private bathrooms with showers - 2 each for men and women. I like that over community locker rooms. The personal trainers conduct boot camps and other classes, but they are not ongoing.... they seem to always have something going on however.

I have some doubts about this YMCA having serious racial discrimination. I'm a YMCA member, with…read moreautomatic monthly deductions, but I rarely attend YMCA events. On August 11th, a classmate of my younger son invited him to play at the YMCA. So, despite heavy rain, we went to this YMCA. However, when we tried to swipe my membership card for entry, we were informed that my card had expired last month and were asked to leave and reapply for membership. Seeing my child's disappointed expression, I asked the staff if it's possible to renew the membership now since it's set up for automatic deductions. They could deduct the payment now. The staff coldly replied: "No!" They demanded that we go home and reapply by filling out forms. I attempted to negotiate, saying: "We came a long way in the rain, can I fill the form now and could you please update my membership card now?" The response remained indifferent: "No! You must fill out a new application. It's our policy.." Can I read your policy? I asked. No! I don't have it...... I asked, "Could you please have your manager check if it's possible to update it now?" The reply was, "I am the manager," and proudly showed me his name tag: Max! I'm not sure if this is the YMCA's policy or discrimination against me as an Asian? Membership expiration wasn't communicated, and the renewal process is so troublesome! Being treated this way as a YMCA member, humiliated in front of my child, has left me heartbroken!

They've continuously reached out to me outside of class, expressing a genuine interest of who I am as a person outside the mat, outside the cage. What's more, they've maintained contact with me via social media even after I moved over 1000 miles away from Fargo. If I was still in the area, I'd be there 3-4 times per week. They truly value you and your membership. Your dollar matters. They'll push you only as hard as you're willing to go, but don't get me wrong the classes are very demanding but no one bullies you to keep up; you go at your own space. ACA's instruction is not a one size fits all type of instruction. Instruction is carefully tailored to fit the specific needs and goals of the individual student. If you're looking for a home cooked meal that's made from scratch then ACA is for you. Don't believe the hype? Step in and see for yourself! I believe they offer a free trial membership. It's open to men, women, LGBTQ, and children. They don't discriminate. ACA is easily the most diverse martial arts center in the area. They don't discriminate on the basis of race, religion, and/or gender--which is especially important to me (black male attorney who trains judges and attorneys on racial bias). They have a racially diverse coaching staff (Filipino; Black; White; Indigenous/Native American, etc.) as well as a diverse population of students. I've never been to a Crunch, and was surprised by the equipment / facility. For the cost they had everything some of the expensive gyms have, and a dope atmosphere. Because of this experience I might consider doubling down on my current membership, and adding Crunch for when I'm in the North Metro MN area, or Fargo again since it's more than an affordable option. I called a few weeks later and was told that I have to send a snail mail letter to cancel my membership if I could not be there face-to-face. I did this. Come to find out it was never canceled. I did exactly what I was asked to do. They told me tough. That there was no evidence that any of this ever happened and that they did not care. I asked to speak to a district manager and was gaslit. Apparently I need to go to a website and send some special message to speak to the DM. seems real convenient for them anyway you look at it. They are thieves they don't work in good faith. And the place was always dirty. Honestly, seems like a scam. You have to send a letter to cancel, and then they claim they never got it and keep charging you. And until you figure it out and then they go "sorry oh well."
