Our travel specialist was Laura--based out of northern California, I believe, which nonetheless didn't present any logistical difficulties for us down here in San Diego. Via a series of emails and phone calls over several days, Laura set up every facet of our trip to two countries and three cities after presenting us with multiple choices and price points: flights (outbound from LAX, inbound to San Diego), hotels, private car transport, etc. Because the trip was a last-minute getaway, our plans were somewhat fluid and dependent upon availability--and Laura didn't bat an eye when we suddenly switched our destination from Barcelona to London for the first week of the trip. Overall, Laura's work ethic in nailing down our logistics was Herculean, to say the least. We're looking forward to our next trip abroad in 2025, and will certainly use Going Places and Laura when we do.

This place has been poorly, and I mean poorly redone by someone with zero skills. We texted the owner, agent, whatever he was, and told him that the smoke and carbon monoxide detector was missing. He never responded. Last night we had a bunch if younger kids partying next door. They weren't even that loud really, but you could hear damn near every word through the walls, and the stairs are only separated by a wall. Obviously not carpeted on their side.... The entry doors are hollow steel and you hear everything from all the units. The door to the common hallway is dragging on the tile they installed and screaches very loudly everytime its opened. The stairway smells like piss. The title installed in the commons have ruined the continuity of the steps, and landings causing trip hazards. Today the new occupants showed up for the unit vacated by partyers, and had to wait over an hour to get in because of the cleaners. The place smelled like armpit, curry, and pinesol. Not even really cleaned either. They wanted to use the bbq, and firepit, but the fire pit was non existent, and the bbq was a rusted filthy mess. The common area in the courtyard was non usable due to building materials and filth. The 2 owners/agents and a maintenance guy were there trying to clean it but too little too late. One of them asked us how we were enjoying the view, and I replied its nasty. He heard its nice... my wife asked him about the smoke detector and he went and bought one. He did come up later to install it. I fished for some insight as to who remodeled, and he said "they" did the work. There is a reason that there are a bunch of stock photos of the surrounding areas, jet skis, and the beach. Its because this place is a dump. They have tried to put mustard, and mayo on this turd, but the fact of the matter, is that it still tastes like crap. I do remodeling for a living, and everything they have touched is pure trash. The kitchen cabinets are painted trash under newer quartz tops. The shower downstairs is so poorly tiled, that water damage is eminent. The title floor in the kitchen has raised corners and trip hazards. The paint job is terrible, and is already filthy. Vanity top downstairs is separated and loose in several areas. The balcony handrail is attached to a 1x12 and is very loose. One good push, and someone will get hurt. The carpet adhesive left behind, and metal trim on the patio Is peeling off, and I tripped on a piece that my toe caught.The the carpet on the stairs is filthy. The new outside wood siding accent is buckled and has sharp edges that can catch your skin. The couch is damaged, uncomfortable, and stained. The barstools are not suitable to sit in for more than 10 minutes. I literally could go on for an hour. This was over 300 dollars a night on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Supposedly it gets up to 900 a night during peak. STAY ELSEWHERE!!! I tried to take some pictures of what it really looks like but my wife was getting mad. I hope this long winded review makes you think twice before staying here. Hopeful that the owners see this and fix some of these issues. But the sad fact is that people will stay here, and they'll get their money. What a dump.

From there, the entire aspect of planning was seamless. She got to know what both my girlfriend and I liked, when we wanted to visit Bali, and our budget. She arranged our air travel, travel insurance, accommodations, activities, and recommended sights to see. This trip would have not been possible without her. She responded to my inquiry during a family emergency of hers. I offered to reschedule but she insisted, because "I love my job". She had read my inquiry in more detail than other agents. She understood my needs and desires better than others, especially my desire to not need luxury services aimed at a different kind of client. After more discussion, she realized I had done more research than a typical client. She said it would be unethical business practice to offer to help. Even after that, she has been very communicative with tips for having a good trip. She already knows I am not giving her money, but she is still being responsive and very helpful. That's great customer service.

I called them to tell you about this issue and you said you'd send someone over to fix it and then call me back with the results. This never happened. This was unacceptable frankly. This issue messed with our plans and experience every day. On new years day we had to go back at around 10pm to prepare for our early morning flight, but we could not get in. I tried calling you and Airbnb, but I didn't hear back from you and Airbnb didn't reach back out until 6am. While we were drenched in the rain, my girlfriend and I continued dozens of attempts to unlock the door. It took almost an hour. We finally got in by some random miracle. I'm requesting money because not being able to enter a unit is a critical issue that ruined my entire trip.

Several several emails to Mission Sands with not 1 response. We have now put in a complaint with Airbnb since the condition of this house was completely unacceptable. Be aware of renting "The Big House" in Mission Beach. Great location, but that is about all that was good about it. I have pictures and emails to prove our claims. The sad thing is this company, that has sooo many good reviews failed us without even an acknowledgement of our complaints.
