The people at the front desk were young, fun, outgoing, really friendly and I appreciated that. They told me about some happy hour they were having later in the day and I felt very welcome here unlike other hotels I stayed at in the San Diego area. The bathroom was huge in my room, very weird vibe, like felt cabin-like, I don't know how else to explain it, but it was spacious, big countertop by the sink plenty of room to get ready. The coffee bar had an enormous countertop which was great for keeping all of my things, huge mirrors everywhere too. The bed was really comfortable, again great view outside, awesome staff. It was so nice to be able to walk the boardwalk and pop back in here whenever I needed to grab something or use the restroom. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend, I would definitely stay here again. But I probably won't because the cost is INSANE. Sorry but it is. Also housekeeping found my jewelry box loaded with jewelry and returned it to the front desk who subsequently shipped it back to my house for me. There were 7 of us on the trip, and everyone had a fantastic time in no small part due to the effort that Joaquin, Marleny, and our drivers (Abel, Edgar, and Carlos) put into making our experience very special. Working with Joaquin to plan the trip was seamless and straightforward. He provided extremely useful information, and when our trip approached he and Marleny finalized the itinerary and provided us with concise yet very important information on how to cross the border and meet our driver. I had never crossed the border on foot, but it was pretty seamless. It's about a 1.5 - 2 hour drive from the border to Ensenada, and I didn't feel comfortable doing that drive on my own, so having Baja Winery Tours provide transportation was essential and eliminated the stress of getting around. Baja Winery Tours set up all the reservations at wineries and restaurants in Valle de Guadalupe. The wineries we visited were on point, and the food was absolutely spectacular. I was glad that we were able to have everything arranged, and be high quality, without having to do a ton of research. On our last full day, our dinner ran a little long and then we hit a bit of traffic getting back to the hotel. Our driver handled these issues with grace and full understanding. I would highly recommend having Baja Winery Tours provide all the logistics and travel if you're planning on visiting the area. Her lighthearted, gregarious, and deeply-caring energy seems to attract the kinds of guides and leaders who have a twinkle in their eye, an expert knowledge base, and are genuinely interested in offering guests authentic experiences that are full of connection and meaning. If you research trekking groups in Nepal, you'll soon understand how uncommon it is for tourists to be able to stay at the home of their sherpa, let alone spend the day at their local village school, receive cooking lessons in their kitchen, or sit around the dinner table with the locals, cooking, dining, dancing together. Our small group shared many memorable moments by the windows of tea houses. We'd spend our mornings and afternoons walking at a steady, rhythmic pace through the winding landscape, senses heightened, taking breaks to simply stand in stillness and absorb as much of the magic of the sacred land as possible. Every evening we'd sit and gaze out at the landscape we were a part of, sketching, writing poetry, drinking tea, and speaking of dreams. We began the adventure as new travelers just getting to know one another, and we left with an unshakable bond that felt almost tribal, not just with the travelers, but with our entire Nepalese support team. There's so much more I could say about how Driftwood Adventure Trekking offers an experience unlike anything I've ever known. It's impossible to put a price tag on the depth of connection made possible through the thoughtfully curated team and itinerary. The picture opportunities were fabulous and Bri brings her professional touch, which we so appreciated, From the list of what to bring, to the moment we landed in Katmandu and we were picked up and at the end dropped off, every single detail was well thought of. It was one of the best vacations of my life; and I have been fortunate to travel a great deal. I brought my two daughters (25 and 14 years old) and my 25 year old daughter's boyfriend. This was the only cab I could find to give her a ride to the airport at 5 AM in the morning in La Jolla. As of today, that very same girl is now my wife, and I make sure she takes a cab from Richie (the owner) wherever she needs to go. Richie is the main driver, he is a gentleman first and then an excellent driver. He always shows up ten minutes before I ask him to do so. And if he cannot show up, he makes sure one of his other drivers is there ready to go. The service is unprecedented in my area. The best part is that his prices are not expensive compared to other drivers.
