Delightful little storefront Polish deli in Orland Park, seemingly one of a number of them popping up these days. This one appears to be family owned and operated, and they speak Polish as easily as English. The staff was wonderful and welcoming, and the store was clean as a whistle inside and out. While not as big a store or as broad a selection as found at Lassak Market & Deli in Palos Hills, there still was a lot to admire at this deli. Pychotka has a nice selection of grocery items, mostly authentic Polish, a small but inviting deli section where one can get fresh cut meats and cheeses, and a number of knick-knacks and smaller items that attract the eye. All in all this is a welcome addition to Orland Parks ethnic store offerings. read more

This Polish deli/shop is great! Gorka is closer to me but they close fairly early while Pychotka is open until 8 or so. They have all the staples you'd expect of an international food store. Some of the chocolates and sweets aren't available at other stores. They have the cooler with soups in containers, good bread from Racine bakery and other local bakeries, milk and eggs, etc. Their deli and hot counter is the best thing though. You can get hot bar stuff individually or get a small or large meal: the small is one meat and two sides, the large is two meats two sides and either a third side or a salad or something. They have various krokety, blintzes, all kinds of ham and bacon. There's premade things you can take home and cook. The hot bar is a good deal. I went to McDonalds last week and paid like $12 for my meal. For about the same I can get a huge container of delicious foods that lasts me a couple days. And the small meal is around 8 bucks and is probably plenty for most people. They have a few younger girls and women working there who are always friendly and helpful. They all seem to speak Polish if you want to communicate that way. read more

This is my go to place when I'm in town. I live in Florida so it's nice to find a great polish deli near my son. Everyone there is the most gracious to a non speaking pole. The food is fantastic. First timer! I got the Wednesday special for $5 You get to pick 1 meat and 2 sides. I got potato pancakes...smoke sausage...stuffed cabbage..pierogi..dumplings..fried potatoes.. and mixed vegetables. Wow! What a fantastic polish deli! My wife and I are both 3rd/4th generation polish so our childhood celebrations growing up were usually polish smorgasbords or home cooked polish meals. We recently threw a party for our 6 year old's birthday and wanted to surprise our family with something other than the standard pizza and try to give our son the same fond memories of family and food we had as kids... and boy did Pychotka Deli deliver. I stopped in Saturday and talked to one of the incredibly nice and knowledgeable staff about what we were looking to do. He shared a few recommendations on the different varieties of smoked sausages and also got me set up for an easy pickup the next day with with fresh hot prepared foods (pierogies, dumplings, roasted potatoes, and more). Needless to say everything was a major hit and our entire family was raving about the sausage the was most recommended by the staff unprompted by me. The store is super clean and the staff went the extra mile to make our party a major success. We'll definitely be back! The owner erases the actual dates on butter and stamps his own. A lot of things taste very off. Heard from employees that the food is prepared without much food safety precautions with dirty hands and buckets. The deli workers also work the register then go back to slicing meat without washing their hands. Should be common sense. read more

Their homemade soups are delicious, especially their pickle soup. Their meat stuffed cabbage was also very good. I gave them a 5 star. However, I did try a piece of their cooked smoked sausage with onions. It was in the hot deli section but when I got to my car I opened it up to eat and it was ice cold. I ate it anyway because I was hungry, and it tasted good, but since I purchased it from the hot deli, I would at least expect it to be warm. I will definitely be returning when I am in the neighborhood. read more

Horrible customer service. I just bought a stuffed cabbage which was spoiled and sour. I called to complain and I was told that the food was good and I am making this up to get a refund. I will never shop there again. In regard to owner comment... I am not sure which phone conversation he has listened to. But I was NEVER offered a refund. I was told to bring the food back which was in the garbage can after heating it on the plate, before I realized it was spoiled. I was offered to have a replacement with the same stuffed cabbage which the employee said was nothing wrong with. It really bothers me that she made an assumption I am trying to get a refund for a good food. The purchase was made 10 mins before my call. Employees were heard having conversation between themselves while I was on the phone. "Which one did you sell?" Maybe the other employee sold the old ones to me, and didn't admit. This happened to me for the 3rd time in your store, except this time I decided to make a complaint. If you want to continue your business, I strongly suggest selling fresh food and treating customers with respect after they bring up any issues to your attention. In the end, it's not about good as much as how you treat people shopping at your place. Oliver P. You are lying about the refund and you know it. Also your post is very passive aggressive. You know very well you are not taking pride in freshness or customer service. Maybe because you seem young and don't know it, but talking like this to your customers will not help your business thrive in the long run. I'd love to support a local business - but this deli was very disappointing. The positives are that it looks very clean - the negatives are the hot meals. The cabbage rolls should be called rice rolls - barely any meat and all rice! The barley soup is so thick with starch and has no taste of broth - it's just like a mush! I rather pay a bit more and get a good product. The young man behind the counter seemed like he really didn't want to be there! We need a good deli in the area and this place has potential, but not like it is now! read more
