Forgot to take a before picture. It was good! :)

Found this place randomly on a road trip. Everything was delicious! We had the potato/cheddar and meat pierogis, two types of cabbage dishes, and some potato dumplings. And the bread and butter... perfect! Would definitely recommend a stop here!

Cute family owned authentic food! Family and atmosphere were so warm and inviting! Everything we had was amazing from the pork tenderloin to the dill chicken and pickled beets.

A very tasty variety of Polish food. All cooked like my mother and grandmother would have served from their own kitchen.

Plenty of parking, fresh and clean walk into Delight Wish. First thing to notice is the large wall of glass separating you and the kitchen, no guessing who, what or HOW your meals are being prepared. Warning, all meals made to order, not coming out of a stock pan, with that being said, wait time may seem a bit long. We enjoyed a bit of everything polish on the menu. An order of fresh polish sausage and a chicken cutlet. Both served hot and moist. Our sides included 2 styles of sauerkraut (one fried, one traditional), Brussels sprouts and of course, pierogis. Like mom was in the kitchen. All served with outstanding flavor, hot and nice presentation. Plenty of European style beers to choose from. Prices, extremely moderate.

I'd like to preface this review by saying that I might not have chosen this restaurant on my own, but I'm overly thankful to our friends who knew just how good this place is!!!! We drove an hour south at the advice of our friends to try this restaurant. They advised they had a European menu, which meant a lot of things. Delight Wish is a smaller restaurant that they say fills up quickly. After eating here once, I would be surprised if this weren't the case. Only a town corn boil event just down the road kept the crowd in here to a minimum when we visited. Seating is bench style and at the back of the restaurant is a clear window where you can watch the chef's prepare food. The menu isn't completely European, but more or less a little bit of many things, all of which are made with a Polish or German styling. That's what makes everything here so delicious. I'm a fiend for oriental stir-fry and couldn't say no to that. The dish comes with pork, chicken or shrimp..and I like my poultry. The dish was served with a round of rice in the center, surrounded with diced chicken, stir-fry veggies and peanuts. It only took one bite to realize I was eating greatness. This dish comes in two sizes; small and large. One of our friends had the small size and I didn't see a huge difference, but...I only made my way through half of the large dish. This is saying a lot because I came in hungry as a bear after a very long bike ride, and I can put back a sizeable amount of food when I want to. Well, I wanted to, but their stir-fry dish is so filling that I had to take almost half of it home. Onto the beer menu, which includes 54 names from 12 European countries. I had two bottles of the beer in the attached picture, and really enjoyed it. The service here is with a smile, helpful, and our table was given a free plate of ham hocks as a sample. Those were damn good as well. I absolutely cannot wait to come back here. Cheers!!

Such nice people first of all! The young man helping the waitress is a doll! The tables are awesome...would love one for my house. Everything was delicious. The polish sausage is so good. Perfect snap and flavor. The potato pancakes are divine. I had the stuffed cabbage with tomato sauce. It has barley ( which I like) but it needs more meat and less filler barley. We loved the bread brought to the table and bought a loaf of fresh rye to take home. Will be back to try other items.

Friendly service, homemade food, great portions, laid back atmosphere. Wonderful experience!

A BIG YUM! Who would have thought that homemade Polish food would make it to Channahon. Absolutely try the potato pancakes!!! I also had the breaded pork chop with cheese. Very good especially with a side order of Bigos. We were too full for dessert - but they had some delicious sounding items. I will be back soon! The owners are there working hard. If I understood correctly, the husband handmade all of the tables and benches in the restaurant. Very impressive!!!

I wish there were a way to give 3 1/2 stars but there isn't and I just can't give them four stars. If you're concerned about covid 19 this is not the place to visit. None of the staff wore masks. The kitchen has a wall of windows which I'd nice at you can watch your food being prepared by unmasked kitchen staff. They provided fresh cut bread and butter at the table. It was a tasty start to our dinner. I ordered schnitzel and mashed potatoes, V ordered Cheesy fried chicken, Mashed potatoes and carrot slaw. We split our entrees so that we could each try both meals. The cheesy fried chicken was tasty, and had a bit of crunch at the edges. The schnitzel was tasty but too salty. The mashed potatoes were flavorful. The carrot slaw gave a nice fresh counter to balance the meal. The waitress brought the bread and a koraf of water. Then she took our order. I was surprised she didn't ask if we wanted something to drink which was fine with me though V said he was going to order apple juice. Ultimately the water was needed due to the salt in the schnitzel. She checked back with us after bringing the meal and as we finished cleared the plates and brought the bill. I don't know if they have deserts, we weren't asked if we wanted one so maybe not. The atmosphere was very relaxed. Tables are large uncomfortable to sit at picnic tables. The music was enjoyable as we both liked most of the songs played from the 90's and early 2000's.

I'm part Polish so I was super excited to try this place to experience the food I grew up with from my parents and grandparents and let me tell you it was super amazing! We had som meat and white cheese pierogis along with an order of polish sausage. It tasted wonderful! I'm looking forward to trying more and bringing my mom here next time

This is where my friends took me for my birthday and I was so very glad I dined at Nad Tatrami. Coming from Munster, Indiana there really isn't any good Polish restaurants outside of a couple of fabulous full-service Polish delis in Schererville and one in Hammond. This is a great find! There is ample parking, and the interior looks authentically Polish in feel and warmth. Very cozy and comfortable. The service was welcoming and very friendly. All three (3) of us had fabulous entrees, I'll post pics later. Ample portions and big bowls of freshly made soup. It was quite hardy, filling and delicious! We were all very happy! The entire charming experience was like going to Poland as I have traveled there a few times. Definitely worth coming back and repeating our pleasure. The only negative thought was to turn the lights down a tad, you're not the White Castle's! Wishing you much success in the New Year!

We started off with the complimentary appetizer, which was bread served with what I think was a meat and potato stuffing--I'm not exactly sure what it was, but it was amazing. We also ordered the potato pancakes, but unfortunately, we weren't big fans of them. They just weren't crispy enough, so the texture of the potato wasn't great. Luckily, the rest of the meal completely made up for it! For our mains, we got the chicken Alfredo (okay, but wouldn't get again!), the beef stroganoff, and the Polish plate. The stuffed cabbage on the Polish plate was absolutely insane, a total highlight of the night. I would 10/10 recommend getting that plate! The only slight critique for the mains is that I wish the beef in the stroganoff had been just a little bit more tender. The dumplings on this plate were just okay. We also ordered two different types of pierogies, both meat and potato, and both were delicious. The beet side dish was also delicious. Outside of those minor details, everything was so incredibly delicious. I would definitely come back here again!

It was not bad, but the flavor on it I did not like as much as other Polish places I've tried. I definitely want to go back and try their cabbage and noodles and pigs in a blanket. I read some people exaggerating about the wait times. It does not take long for them to help you. Like Jewel or Mariano's, they're not going to slice your meat in 10 seconds if that's what you're hoping for. Btw the staff was nice. I think the Karen's that complain about them being rude are not very cultured and only know American culture. I ordered the signature pastrami sandwich for $10.99 and it was a very generous portion size. She put a ton of meat in it. The pastrami wasn't tough, it was fresh and soft. Honestly, I had Katz's in NY and this was a really great pastrami sandwich. I also got a large cannoli and meat pierogis. The cannoli was delicious. The pierogis were good but I like to have softer skin. The meat filling was fine but the outside was a bit too tough. I've been to a number of Polish restaurants and they usually make the skins very soft to cut. I would rate these pierogis like a 4. Overall, it's about a 4.5. Prices were very cheap. I got everything for $20. I will definitely return to try more items.

Sour Rye Soup: Not bad, but honestly, I wouldn't order it again... the fermented sourness was just too direct and intense. Polish Hunters Stew: Apparently a national dish of Poland. The first bite tasted like Italian meat sauce, with a rich tomato flavor and a slight smoky aroma; then I discovered the ingredients included sausage, cured beef brisket, minced meat, and sauerkraut, making it quite substantial and much more satisfying than Italian meat sauce. Overall, it was a rich, sweet and sour flavor, perfect with rice, pasta, or bread. Sauerkraut & Mushroom Pierogi: Dumplings, but the Polish version. The sauerkraut was only slightly sour, refreshing and delicious with the mushrooms, while the sour cream added a touch of creaminess and richness. Unfortunately, the skin was thick and sticky, as if it had been boiled for a long time. For better dumplings skin, please turn to a Northeastern Chinese. Half Duck: Strangely, it reminded me of confit de canard. The meat was incredibly tender, falling off the bone with a gentle pull; the melt-in-your-mouth texture was truly delightful. The cranberry sauce was perfectly balanced between sweet and sour, with a rich fruity and fermented aroma. The rosemary emerged in the aftertaste, enriching the flavors and cutting through the richness. The accompanying sauerkraut was even better than the duck, with a crunchy texture and a mild, pleasant sourness, enveloped in a rich buttery and creamy flavor. The accompanying fpotatoes were also soft and delicious, but the roasted pear was too overpowering in its softness and sweetness, not meeting my expectations for a palate cleanser. Table Bread: The bread itself was unremarkable, but the generous amount of butter was commendable. I cannot believe that there is only one server for all the tables.

Tradycja is a fine, upscale dining experience: really awesome decor with lots of hand crafted touches, a menu filled with great choices. I started with the sauerkraut pierogi as an appetizer: light and simple but amazing with bits of bacon and a small dish of sour cream. My main was called a breaded pork chop but I'd call it more of a schnitzel topped with mushrooms and a sheep's milk cheese. For sides I added sauerkraut and potato pancakes. While the pork and sauerkraut were both great I cannot emphasize enough: these are the best potato pancakes on the planet. No applesauce or sour cream needed. Service is also very friendly and accommodating, our server was charming and helpful. I should add that everything was cooked to order so it's not quick but unlike lots of other restaurants, you can tell that Tradycja doesn't use shortcuts or cheap filler ingredients: everything is like you would make it at home. We expected a bit of a hole in the wall and that's not what we found - we found a very nicely decorated and maintained restaurant with a lot of dark wood overtones - we were seated immediately and given an extensive menu. I ordered a Polish beer, and we ordered a Polish plate - kind of a combination sampler plate if you will - and a ground pork cutlet dinner. Now before we could say anything? Some bread showed up with a lovely but lightly flavored hummus type spread- we enjoyed it because it also came with a nice big half sized pickle. When the Polish plate came? OMG we had sauerkraut - we had sausage - we had some pierogies, and when the pork cutlet came out? It literally covered the entire plate and was resting on a bed of freshly mashed potatoes. We shared the Polish plate and we shared the extremely large pork cutlet. Now to be fair? We loved the Polish plate immensely - while the cutlet was nicely breaded, and the mashed potatoes were great? I'm not certain I could say that about the pork cutlet. There was nothing wrong with it. I think the flavor was fine, but it was not something that I would order again. It just wasn't my taste that's all. So would we come again? Yes. Yes we would!

Then again, the place is in a magnificent sort of decay (on the outside). Remove the cars in the lot, the steady stream of patrons, and the electricity to the signs and you'd swear the joint had been closed for awhile. Zero curb appeal. Yeah, that's what I'm blaming it on. Step inside, and as they say, it's a different bowl of Czarnina. It's OLD old school for sure, and, at least for me, that's a rousing and quite affirmative sign that good eats may be in store. And they were. The nearby Berwyn/Cicero neighborhoods were heavily Czech, and we all grew up eating that hearty, stick-to-your-ribs, pork-laden cuisine. A similar thread runs through German and Polish menus. Swap out the recipes for side dishes, and you're still in the same universe. My ancestry has Polish and German (along with the Italian and Jewish) components, so a lot of this food is familiar, much of it cooked by my Grandmothers; so I went in with a basic knowledge and expectation of the cuisine. Sawa's bills itself as a "Smorgasbord", which was a term still in wide use 60 or so years ago when Sawa's was established; it's a Danish word for "buffet". Back in the day, a resto yclept as such was considered "exotic", even when the fare presented therein was anything but. That Sawa's kept that describer is further evidence of OLD OLD school. (See my words about "old school" above.) Still, Never stopped in. My dumb ass. Inside, it's a bustling, warm and inviting room, if it were German, one would describe it as "gemutlich"-meaning very "home-like". The staff is very personable and cheerful. Some of the tables and chairs have seen better days, but they're all clean. The "Smorgasbord" doesn't have a HUGE selection, but what's there is very good. There's a salad station, de rigueur; which I passed over in favor of the selection of Polish Zakuski: cold appetizing bits like bean salad, pasta salad, cucumbers, etc.. I took a little bit of everything, all great! There were a few soups, but I made a beeline for the Mushroom Soup. I could have had 3 bowls of that with a few of the zakuski, a beer and call it a day! I can't remember what the other soups were- I wasn't interested once I saw "mushroom". Main course offerings included 2 types of Polish sausage-smoked and fresh. You KNOW those were yum! Gołąbki (pronounced go-WUUM-kee) or: Stuffed Cabbage in tomatoe sauce were proper. Pierogis of several different types, all, again delicious. Blintzes, Pork ribs, GREAT kraut, and Haluski, a cabbage/noodle dish my Polish grandmother used to make, which I have not had in almost 50 years. Almost got misty-eyed for this one. There were two anomalies: Fried chicken, which was terrific, And the only sort-of miss on the carte: roast beef which reminded me of Italian Beef, but not quite as highly spiced. Not bad, but not exactly something I'd order (or expect) in a Polish resto. I was there at the end of the Lunch service and saw the stuff they were bringing out for Dinner, including a rockin' big hunk of Roast Pork and a beautiful Whole Ham. The desserts offered were Polish-style Kolackys, very good! And a selection of petit-four type things. There was a ring-shaped dark cookie that was interesting. Close to a gingerbread, but not so ginger-y. Know going into it, Polish baked desserts are apparently not extremely sweet. Decent with coffee, but if you're looking for a sugar punch at the end of your meal, see if they have some non-savory blintzes on the board. There IS soft-serve ice cream available for a more traditional finale. The onliest disappointment was the bread, perched on top of the trad salad cart. It seemed like an afterthought. Even shmeared with butter, it tasted a bit stale and tired. A shame, 'cos good Polish Rye is a thing of beauty and a joy forever. An altogether gentle and most satisfying feed. I wish I had ordered a beer, which would have complimented the cuisine admirably; but didn't 'cos its a long drive home to Stately Breakwind Manor from deepest Broadview. Got to stay in the lane, you know. A Solid 4 stars. I'll be back for Dinner shortly, where I expect that 5th star will be added. Even sweeter 'cos the price is so reasonable. Why did I wait so long to dine at this EXCELLENT Smorgasbord? My dumb ass...

Polish buffet that offers a bit of everything. We went on a Tuesday and they had chicken noodle and…read moretomato soup. Special dish was the meatball in dill sauce, which was light and breaks apart easily with a fork. Very delicious as I never had that. There is a build your own salad bar with fresh ingredients and a variety of salad dressings. They offer a variety of cold side dishes; Cole slaw, pasta salad, potato salad, kidney beans, slices of red beets, jello, sour cream, and many more that I didn't get to try. Next was the hot foods. They offer one type of pierogi for the day, which was cabbage that day. They also had Potato pancakes that were thin and flavorful. Also crispy on the outside and soft inside. There were also Potato dumpling, boiled potatoes with gravy, sauerkraut, corn, and beef slices. First time having stuffed cabbage with ground meat with rice and breaded pork with ground pork. The meat wasn't as dense as I thought it would be, but still very filling. They also had fried chicken. The chicken were moist and just fell off the bones. There were apple blintzes, which was like thin crepe wrapped around slices of apples with powdered sugar. Had a light sweetness to it. Recommend to go add some soft serve ice cream. A variety of small bites of pastries. Kolaczki were amazing and very soft and fresh. They have a small sheet that list out all the items with the prices that they offer at the buffet. They have styrofoam containers to take the food home. Very reasonable prices like the cabbage rolls and breaded pork are $3 each and Kolaczki $0.50 each. Monica our waitress was very quick to take away any empty plates on your table. Refill drinks. Really nice and friendly. Also gave us a pitcher of water so we can refill our glasses. Everything tasted like homemade but even better. Made fresh snd Seasoned well. Weekday buffet dinner for $19 is a great deal. Definitely will come back on another weekday to try another one of their special dish. Recommend to bring cash. They do take credit cards. Oh and the GPS if going East on Cermak rd you can turn into 18th street or turn straight into the restaurant parking lot. Our GPS told us to go down 19th street and turn into an alley to get to the restaurant parking lot.
