Opolska is another fine addition to the excellent Polish restaurants in the suburban area. I have eaten here four or five times and have not been disappointed. On this visit, I went with the Wednesday special which is the Polish plate. Besides the traditional cutting board with pate, bread, and pickles, the special includes soup and a soda. This has been on my list for quite some time so I was finally able to go. Parking is a shared lot so plenty of parking available. The restaurant itself is big so you can easily get a table. Restrooms are on both sides. I didn't realize this but this is on the same road as Bacowka. Just a FYI, that one charges you an outrageously high sales tax, their prices in person are higher than what you see on their website, and their service is atrocious. Opolska's menu is not as extensive as Bacowka's but their quality is superior. The service was very attentive and our waitress was really nice. Prices were very fair and sales tax was normal. The food portions were very sufficient, you'll leave full. We ordered a Polish plate, potato pancakes, 5 meat pierogis, and handmade dessert. I also ordered the kompot (homemade juice). It's a refreshing drink, not too fruity. The Polish plate came with kiebasa sausage, 3 different kinds of pierogi, potato pancakes, stuffed cabbage, and sauerkraut. Potato pancakes were not soggy, they were firm and moist. The Kiebasa sausage was juicy and tasted great with the sauerkraut. Stuffed cabbage was my personal favorite. The meat inside of it was well seasoned. Pierogi were all very tasty. They were fresh and had ample fillings. The homemade dessert cake was interesting, it wasn't sweet. Nice unassuming Polish restaurant in a strip center. I don't think I've had real polish food before per se, I've had similar food, but not specifically this cuisine. The restaurant is very well appointed. Plenty of room, nicely set up tables and the staff are all professional. I ordered the breaded chicken cutlet with mashed potatoes and cucumber salad. I couldn't believe how much food was on my plate when they brought it out to the table. Course. I didn't finish it all but I sure tried. The chicken cutlet was flat and expansive, and I sure hate it to waste it but I just couldn't do all of it and we're staying in a hotel and it wouldn't be easy for us to bring back. It was nice to visit here after so long and see that the space was expanded and more tables were added. They now have a full service bar and area with charging outlets under the table. I found that the high top chairs were very uncomfortable. Not sure why they can't get their chairs right. Food is mostly good and fresh. Went for Sunday dinner at 430p and it was packed. Waited 20 minutes to be seated, and while waiting given free beverages which was a nice touch. Once seated good service even though so busy. Ordered the mushroom soup and then roast duck, both were Sunday specials - so delicious! Food outstanding. When we left at 6p started to be less crowded so that may be a better time to try. Soooo delicious! Must try. Every single dish is absolutely perfect. It makes you feel you are in a beautiful region of Poland. I can't wait to visit again. The staff were helpful and very sweet. This is definitely a gem. If you want to try homemade Polish food at its best. This is the place for you. I personally love the sampler plate. It's a little of everything especially when you can't decide on one dish. I also did something I never do and took a meal home for the next day. That was a real treat. We tried Opolska after a round of golf at Fox Run. The five of us wanted the pork knuckle Saturday special but unfortunately, they only had one available! We ended up ordering different dishes and all were excellent! Place got busy early evening that some people had to wait outside. First time at this restaurant. Came here for my daughters bday. I got the sampler plater. VERY generous serving, took some home for lunch the next day. The kielbasa was made on a grill, it was fantastic, no heartburn either. Pierogis and potato pancakes done just right. Highly recommend this hidden gem. This was one of the restaurants I have been wanting to go to as I read a review from one of the fellow elites which made me try this. I read that this place had the most authentic Polish food. So, I decided to check out this restaurant with my friend. I reached the place a little sooner and booked a table for two in the outdoor seating as the weather was good and the tables were full inside the restaurant. The restaurant was cozy, clean, and well maintained but it could not accommodate more people and I saw that there was a wait when we were heading out. You can imagine how good the food at this restaurant is. They had a wide variety of seating options along with the bar. The waiter then handed over the menu and it was written in both English and Polish. As this was our first time, we were confused on what to order and at one point it felt like we were tourists in a different country because people around were speaking Polish. Upon reviewing and suggestions from the waiter for vegetarian options, I ordered Ser Pieczarki I Warzywa from the Zapiekanki (Baquettes) section, Gofry from Desery (Desserts) and Kompot from Drinks. First, we were served with bread, vegetables and some sort of paste in a bowl which had meat in it where I could not try as a complimentary and the Kompot which was a homemade juice which was good. After a while, I was served with Ser Pieczarki I Warzywa. It was grilled footlong bread topped with fresh cheese, mushrooms, and veggies. The presentation of the dish was mouthwatering, and I was craving for the first bite. The dish was fresh with a good portion and tasted fabulous. The taste was close to pizza. After each bite it makes you want to eat more. Then, I jumped onto Gofry which was our dessert. It was made from waffles topped with cream, chocolate syrup and fresh fruits (strawberries and blueberries). Again, the presentation was good, and the dish was fantastic. It was not too sweet and had the right amount of cream. To sum up, both the presentation and the taste were awesome with reasonable prices. The customer service was exemplary. They had faster friendly staff with faster service. I did not know that Schaumburg had this jewel hiding for a long time. This will be my go-to restaurant to get Polish food. I am going back again to try some more Polish food and their authentic beers. They also had good parking spaces. read more

Add me to the list of people that will be returning to Opolska when I come to Schaumburg again. First off, the service was impeccable. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted with the high energy of 2 servers. I ordered a beer, which they helped me pronounce( because i had no idea how to say it lol). This restaurant knows how to treat customers in a time where most restaurants are pulling back on service. I was offered an appetizer of bacon butter, bread and pickles. I was actually scared to eat it, for fear I would be charged for it silently. This was not the case. I came on a Wednesday and ordered the Polish Plate. This plate is excellent for those who want to sample the menu. On Wednesdays the plate came with your choice of soup and a free glass of fruit punch. Its been years since i had that many add-ons to my meal. The highlight of the night was the food. The sausage was cooked well and had a great flavor. The sauerkraut went with the pierogies. The stuffed cabbage had some of the most flavorful stuffing, I have had in cabbage. This dish made me want to learn how to cook stuffed cabbage myself. The gravy that came on the cabbage, rivaled the best gravies I have had in the south. I love potatoes and the potato cakes were crispy on the inside and chewy on the inside. I wont even try to replicate those in my kitchen. All in all can not wait to travel for work here again, so I can eat more off their menu. read more

You have to stop, look around, and reaffirm that yep, you are still in Schaumburg (which admittedly is home to many a fine restaurant, but dang!). Be daring. I'd only ever had red borscht, but the white variety they offered - chock full of sausage and in a biiig bread bowl - knocked me and my mouth into next week, in the coziest way possible. So maybe it didn't knock me as much as it picked me up in its arms, made it feel weightless, and then gently, tenderly placed me down in the warm and comforting bed of next week. Our waitress was very attentive and allowed us to take our time and look over the menu and came back afterwards to see if he had any questions before we ordered.
