Like the four (4) previous reviewers, I had a great experience with Lumba's Towing. I needed a non-urgent tow (we have an extra vehicle and the car that broke down was in a shopping mall parking lot) and put in a request for quotes using the Yelp! process. Lumba's was very quick to respond to my request and provided a quote FAR more competitive than the others. Communication overall was very good (I called and it went to voicemail once, but received return call shortly thereafter), car-towing experience was handled professionally, and all done at a great price! I was curious why Yelp had three (3) "not recommended" reviews for Lumba's Towing and found that these 5-star, positive reviews were likely excluded because the user hadn't submitted a review before and it was relatively short, which doesn't make sense to me. So a customer, for the first time, feels so strongly about the great service received from Lumba's that he/she decides to leave a brief review to let others know about their great experience with the company... Then Yelp! buries it, likely because it's their first review and is relatively brief. I'm sure Yelp! has its reasons, but I want Lumba's to get the credit they deserve so I mentioned it in my opening line. I'm a big fan of Lumba's towing and the number is already in my wife and two teenage daughters' smartphone directory in case they need an emergency tow! Never had as many problems just trying to get a reasonably accurate estimate from any auto repair shop as this one. The process with four other shops I checked out for the same repairs using same description went smoothly, so not sure why it was so difficult for RNJ. Needed a simple headlight replacement, installation of a new combo meter (circuit board that displays speedometer and odometer), and a quote for an engine swap on a Prius. The woman who provided a two hour quote for the combo meter, Nancy J., didn't know what one was - which is understandable - but apparently couldn't be bothered to look it up. On July 15 promised to get me a quote on the engine swap the next day, then almost two weeks later (July 27) said still didn't have it. Rather than being somewhat apologetic for not following up as promised, her reply was seething with sarcasm. Things rarely turn out well, in my experience, when a company is this careless and puts someone who doesn't understand the fundamentals of customer service as your first point of contact. It's not uncommon for these companies to exercise poor judgment in other aspects of the business as well. Bottom line: Service leaves much to be desired and prices not very competitive. Too many shops out there who are eager to earn your business and extremely capable to put up with this level of carelessness and sarcasm. Is this shop better than a dealership as mentioned in several of the positive reviews? Sure. But that's setting the bar really low. [Note: Nancy edited her sarcastic comments out of the allegedly entire conversation in her response. Can't help but think if they're incapable of honesty in a review, how much can you trust them with your auto repairs?]
