You get a set menu with savoury bites on the bottom tier, two scones in the middle, and desserts on top. The menu changes from time to time, but everything is always delicious. They also have a great selection of teas. It's from the same team behind some of my fave brunch spots (Régine and Janine) so no surprise it's a hit! Expect to pay about $60/person for the regular high tea, before taxes and tip!

As someone who regularly enjoys tea service with friends, I immediately made an 11:00 a.m. reservation, even though the only available seating was at the bar. That didn't matter to me, I was simply looking forward to the experience. The tea house sent multiple confirmation texts, including a reminder to arrive 15 minutes early, which I happily did. I dressed for the occasion, arrived on time, and was greeted at the door before being shown to my seat at the bar. I let the hostess know that the second guest would not be joining me, she acknowledged and removed the additional menu, then I waited. And waited. And waited. For approximately 15 minutes, I sat without a single acknowledgment from anyone on staff. No one welcomed me, explained the tea service, or even said, "We'll be with you shortly." At one point, a waitress silently filled my water glass, but there was still no interaction beyond bonjour. As the minutes passed, I couldn't help but notice that I was the only Black woman in the tea room. I sincerely hope that had nothing to do with the lack of service. I cannot say that it did. But when you're left sitting unnoticed while eagerly anticipating an experience you specifically planned your morning around, it's difficult not to wonder. Rather than cause a scene or ask for attention that should have been offered naturally, I quietly stood up, picked up my purse, walked out, and returned to my hotel disappointed. About 15 minutes after I returned to my hotel, I received a phone call from the owner asking why I had left. I explained exactly what had happened. She responded, "That's what we thought." She apologized and graciously offered to provide complimentary afternoon tea service if I would return. I respectfully declined. While I appreciated the apology and the offer, some moments simply cannot be undone. You don't get a second opportunity to make a first impression, and you don't get a second chance to make me feel welcomed after I've already been made to feel invisible. I arrived excited for what I hoped would be a memorable experience, and beautiful ending to my final day in Montreal. Instead, I left Paparmane feeling embarrassed, overlooked, and less than. This review isn't about receiving free tea or compensation. It's about hospitality. Every guest deserves to be acknowledged, welcomed, and treated with dignity from the moment they take their seat. Montréal has been an incredible city, filled with warm people, memorable food, and wonderful experiences. Sadly, this was the one exception. I sincerely hope Paparmane reflects on the importance of making every guest feel seen because first impressions matter, and mine left me feeling invisible.

Here's the insider scoop: Schnitzel: Perfectly crisp, gold-fried, and so tender I may or may not have audibly moaned mid-bite. Goulash (for real gouoners): A hearty, rich stew that had my friends waxing poetic about Eastern Europe, right in the South Shore. Sides: Beets and seasonal veggies stole the show; bright, fresh, and seasoned like a chef who actually gives a damn. The décor is charmingly rustic-Bohemian: soft lighting, vintage accents, and enough character to make it feel like you stumbled into a cozy Prague café. It's welcoming, warm, and strangely enchanting. Only downside? They didn't have Pilsner Urquell on tap, and my dream Czech pairing dashed. But the food more than made up for it with flavor heavy enough to forgive a brewery oversight. Would I go back? Absolutely. Bohemia is a solid little European escape; right here in Brossard.

We were initially turned away for not having a reservation, ordered to go and were eventually told we could have a table. My daughter felt we were "profiled" and turned away for being American since after we were sat two other couples came in and were sat who clearly did not have reservations, but spoke French. Truthfully, I was shocked but did not care because the food was so delicious. We had the schnitzel and the duck. If you go, speak French!

Newly opened on July 1st, the only Indian thing about Bombay is its name--it's not an Indian restaurant, but a cozy café run by friendly Mariana Chopova, the owner but also the only cook. Bombay builds its menu around eggs and chicken for the whole day. Although breakfast is served all day upon request, the main attraction of this restaurant is the chicken, marinated and roasted on-site in a roaster displayed near the entrance of the kitchen. Marinated for 24h then roasted by Mariana herself, the chicken, served in quarters with greens and pilaf rice or homies, is crisp on the outside and tender and lean on the inside, as expected. Subtedly salty, the main taste is the conforting smell of smoke, adding to the barbeque feel of the meat. I got the lunch with the pilaf rice instead of the homies, and although it's rather unconventional, the rice, cooked in chicken broth and served with peppers, was satisfyingly filling and represents an interesting carb option to accompany the meat. As for the greens, they are as expected. The chicken soup is made from homemade chicken broth, which explains the shreds of meat--a great surprise! Since I have a sweet tooth, I also tried the offered homemade dessert, which was an angel's cake (gâteau des anges) today, served with fresh grapes and blueberries under drips of syrup. The syrups were a bit overwhelming and made the dessert deceivingly normal, almost tasting like store-bought cakes. Since it was lunchtime, I didn't have the chance to try the breakfast - 1 or 2 eggs served with a choice of meat and a crêpe, for only $5 or so. Pastries and coffee, including espresso, are also sold. I will definitely comeback to try these meal options, since the service was friendly. It was a pleasant café to be seated in on his hot summer day, since the windows are large and that a patio is available. The decor might be a bit gaudy because of the dollar-store placemats, but the refurbished church benches used as seatings definitely complete the retro feel of this neighborhood café without making it look too overdone. The menu might be a but too simple as for now, but the neighborhood definitely needed an independent café and breakfast place, and it's definitely a good start for Mariana and her staff.
