I went here for a…read moredegree in health Science / Nursing just to be told by my advisor that there is a high chance I won't get accepted into their nursing program even with a high GPA and that I should look else where. Too many people and not enough seats according to them which is ridiculous. Could it possibly be because they are bringing foreign exchange students from overseas into the nursing program for free which is lowering the acceptance rate for already attending students who pay out of pocket? Why am I coming here for nursing if I can't even get my license here?? If you call the nursing department they either don't answer or have an attitude, providing 0 help. Professors are also unethical, they require you to purchase their books and if you don't you basically fail. I even had some professors, create their own external websites instead of using Brightspace, which has made me and many other students fail their class due to how irrational they were. The school just makes it completely difficult to pursue a nursing degree. Too many people I know are dropping out or have been there for more than 2 years. I was better off applying to a 4 year school. They make you take unnecessary classes for the nursing degree which aren't required at any other college across the country, this prolongs your stay, and if you mess up and get below a C just say goodbye. Any bad grade you get won't get replaced by the new grade if you take the class over. Biology classes are split into two for lecture and lab meaning you have to pay double the price. Many professors in the medical department are very condescending , they hear about you pursuing nursing (which 80% of their students are) and they make it their goal to be spiteful and to discourage you on your journey. Professors, Dr. Philip Costa and Dr. Rosa Ronquillo were by far the BEST professors ever!! Also, im unsure why but most of the English professors in this college are depressed. One of my english teachers made us sit while he read a chapter out of a book he wrote about his personal life and it was so depressing. I'm now going on 3 years here and still haven't graduated, which is pushing me to believe that I should transfer to a 4 year instead that doesn't require all this bs, a school where I can actually attend their nursing program. Although my advisor is wonderful , she has withheld information from me before regarding the classes I needed to take in order to get my degree which prolonged my stay. This leads to my other issue I have with this school, if you don't enroll in high demand courses before a certain time you will not be able to get into any of their classes even if you apply weeks or even a month before the classes starting date. My advisor knows this information so her informing me last minute about classes I need to take is very frustrating . As for other advisors, I have never heard anything good about them. My best friends advisor put him in the wrong major , which he then had to do an additional 2 years. Another classmate (also pursing nursing) told me her advisor told her to just drop out instead of supporting her (she eventually dropped out). I've seen so many of my smartest most intelligent classmates cry over the course of two years because of the stress and classes. I don't give up so easily but if I did I would've been dropped out. I think anyones experience here would be much better than mine and faster if pursuing an easier major with less advanced classes like liberal arts or something. The graduation rate is 24%-30%. I've been a college student here since spring '24 and needless to say my academic experience has…read morebeen great, however my experience dealing with security for on-campus parking has been a NIGHTMARE; Officer Thompson and Sunshine specifically have heckled me since the minute I arrived. First they started telling me to remove my window tints because the security guards have issue seeing my plate because they refuse to walk 10 feet to look at it. I purchased a decal today to start my final semester of college and I was told to park off campus grounds to which I came back to 2 tickets. After putting the decal on, I'm now told I'm unable to park inside the campus ground before 2pm. My entire experience with Queens College could have been much better, but they are a business and nothing more. If you want to park on campus, you should be prepared to spend some extra money because they'll somehow find a reason to write you up a ticket. Also, this campus has buildings so old and out dated, it really makes you wish you chose another school. I've taken 5 summer classes and have seen nothing but roaches everywhere. Nothing but a sub par college experience overall.

The pool is too cold to keep a toddler there for 40 min without then shivering a few min in. Too many kids a class. Day of last class: a few classes were cancelled because fecal matter was in the pool and they had to disinfect it. I was offered a refund for the 1 class that was rescheduled to a date I was unable to make. My 2 year old son learned nothing. There are too many kids in a class for just 1 instructor and it takes away from the purpose of this class. Disappointed in the results.

The main issue we had was that parents are only allowed to watch the first and last class, so we were very uncomfortable with the idea of leaving our child (a very beginner level swimmer) in a class with 7-8 student to one instructor. Although it's helpful for the kids who may get distracted if parents are right there. Another issue was that some of the kids have severe anxiety and are pretty much crying through the entire lesson. You can't really avoid this but it may not be a good idea if your kid is easily influenced by others around him/her. My son started crying after seeing the other kid cry and that pretty much ruined the lessons. I liked that they were understanding to our situation and let us get a refund after we tried the first class. The swimming pool is NOT a heated pool. The room with the pool is temperature controlled and humid but the pool itself is not heated. My son was freezing during his lesson and was visibly shivering the entire time. I think the programs offered by this place is best for those who already know how to swim but want to improve or practice more.

Queens Hall used to be cuny Law but its not anymore. It's a new addition to Queens College. It's…read morepretty far away from the campus but luckily for me that I had most of my classes in this building this term. Queens hall is pretty okay although it remains me of a high school. There are staircases with two sides and all. I'm not the only one that thinks so. The internet connection in the building sucks tho, i think they're still working on it. Oh, since it's a new building there's only one side that has security and that's where you would have to enter. There you'll have to flash your Queens College ID or give in your State Id and they'll document it. so sadly the doors will be locked on the main street side, unless someone is getting out and you can go in from there. Some of the classrooms in the building are quite cool. They're different from the ones you'll see at the QC campus. I had one class where there are mics for each person in the table and it was a huge room. It remained me of a Congress (no joke) . there is another room that is really big and has three projectors. So it's okay of a building - QC is trying to have a lot of classes in this building. It would just suck if you have one class here and another at the campus.
