The bathroom needed a complete overhaul, including new plumbing and wiring, as well opening a window that had been partially covered in the previous remodel. Other areas that needed substantial repair included a water closet with a single toilet on the basement landing, tiling in the kitchen, a microwave installation, ceiling cracks in the living room and dining room, chipped wall paint in hallways, the aforementioned kitchen ceiling leak, and replacement of outdated wiring and plumbing in the basement. It was a sprawling remodel-and-repair job. JDL came highly recommended and did not disappoint. They patiently spent a lot of time with us up front on the overall design of the project, from the attic to the basement. They laid out the cost of the project, including options, in great detail. The price wasn't cheap, but it was fair, and we feel we got more than our money's worth. These folks are professionals. Once JDL started the actual work, we were impressed with the overall project management, the exacting craftsmanship of both their own employees and the subcontractors, and the way they treated our house as respectfully as they would have treated their own. They cleaned up after themselves every single day, communicated about their progress regularly and made all significant decisions in consultation with us. The result is a bright, modern bathroom that nevertheless blends in perfectly with the 1915 style of the house.

When we had to readjust our projected budget downward due to money lost to an incompetent planner, they worked to complete the project with fewer dollars. We are extremely happy with the result. Joe Lyons is scrupulously honest, as are employees Teresa, Dan, John and Trevor. It was a pleasure dealing with JDL. I would recommend them with the highest possible accolades.

We just lost my Dad and closed a chapter in our lives of caregiving for my parents for the previous 5 years and were looking for a fresh start for our family. We tried to purchase our dream home in May 2024. Put $10,000 in earnest money down as stipulated in their contract. We also put down $10,000 in money that wasn't optional for the upgrade selections of the home. We entered contract when market was stable, made repairs to our home, moved things to storage to list our home and had until November 15th to sell our home. During the time frame between May and November home sales slowed to a halt with interest rates on the rise and the upcoming election. We dropped the price of our home by $60,000 to try to sell while they dropped the prices of all of their homes by $25,000 along with included upgrades and incentives to new buyers that were unavailable to us. They became our main competition and we reached out several times asking for help and offers to assist us in being able to further drop the price of our home and they offered only $15,000 for closing if we could even sell our house. We learned the hard way that if you come in without a realtor of your own they aren't willing to negotiate at all! Pretty sad when we saved them $21,000 up front by not having to pay our realtor. November 15th came quickly and they wanted $3,000 more from us to extend our contract with no added help in a still unstable market and in the middle of the holiday season when home sales are always at an all time low. Needless to say we didn't have $3,000 more to put down and were already looking at losing $20,000 due to their very unethical contracts and upgrade fees. Not only have we struggled tremendously financially during this time and become unable to pay our bills on time if at all, but the holiday season was less than joyful as we've suffered through this situation and are trying to get back on our feet again after no resolve to an unethical company in Holt Homes who stand on their advertising as trusted. We did everything right and had our home immaculate for selling and they have no problem burying us in financial debt and struggles while keeping our $20,000 and the price of the home we were to buy at the same price. They also did this to our neighbors. All we have is regrets. This is a company that believes they thrive on integrity and Christian values and tout trust. Thanks Holt for robbing us blind.
