Issue 1: Hardwood floor installation: During the install, newly laid sections of the hardwood floor were immediately covered with a thick cardboard to protect them. That's great to make sure they don't get damaged, except we had no opportunity to evaluate the install until we happened to show up one day before they had covered the day's work. What we saw was a pattern of 4 very short boards (looked like 'chicklets') that were installed together right in front of the fireplace in our great room. The main focal point of the great room with the smallest flooring boards all installed next to each other. (I don't install flooring for a living but who would do that?) So then we asked them to take up all the cardboard so we could inspect the ~3000 sq ft of hardwood that had already been installed. We found many other places where there were 2 or 3 short boards installed together. Needless to say we were not happy about that as our expectation was that those short boards would be used as end fillers, not as main boards in the center of the room, much less more than 1 of them in a row. The owner, Cindy, called me 'persnickety' (yes to my face) for wanting the sections replaced where there were multiple short boards together. After much discussion, she finally agreed to replace a subset of the board placements we were unhappy with. Issue 2: Tile baseboard in the bathrooms. We had Schluter edging installed at the top of the baseboards but the way the installation was left makes it look like there is a line of dirt all along the top. Pictures show how they left our bathrooms with the brown grout all along the top. Cindy's response was "It's the pre-sealed grout. That's great news! The painter can fix it!". I'm not sure who is supposed to hire and pay the painter to fix it given that we have roughly 250 linear feet of tile baseboard, but that was the response. My husband and I fixed a section ourselves by washing/scraping out the dark grout, caulking and then painting. Now at least it doesn't look like I have a strip of mud on top of my baseboards but it was a fair amount of work and it's going to take a bit of time for us to fix all of it. Very disappointed with the response after spending over $120K for flooring and tile install with them. Never again.

The drywall work that was done was not done very well and was sloppy. -They left staples in the ceiling from when they hung up a cloth to help with splatter. -They did not fill all the holes that were made in the ceiling. -There is spots were there are large splatters of drywall that isn't consistent with the texture of the rest of the drywall. I smoothed out some of it after they left but today I realized that I missed some of the large splatters and now they are dry. -They made a mess and didn't clean it up well. There was a small patch of splatter on my carpet. It was on my cupboards and microwave in the kitchen. All of this sloppy work ended up being more than I was quoted too. I was quoted $200-300 but paid $352!

The carpet we selected was on backorder, so it took a couple of extra weeks for our carpet to arrive. Justin came out and gave us a bid on our project. We felt it was reasonably priced for such a high quality pet-friendly berber carpet and pad. We accepted the bid the day we received it, and a couple days later paid for the materials as down payment. Once installation was done, we would pay the remaining balance. I'm never comfortable paying for an entire bid upfront. I was happy with the payment terms and felt they were fair. Makayla called to set up the installation appointment once the carpet arrived at the store. I was able to make an appointment the following weekend which worked out great for us. Frankie and his son, Aiden, installed our carpet. They arrived on time at 9am, and completed our project by 5pm. We chose a patterned carpet, so placement was a bit of a challenge. We were so happy with the installation. We absolutely love our new carpet and pad! The new pad is so cushy! I would highly recommend this company. From start to finish, everyone was professional, helpful and accommodating. We will definitely use them for any future flooring needs.

I chose a light beige, semi-thick shag to provide comfort to bare feet, and it looks and feels great. This is the second time I've used Carpet USA, and received stellar service both times. They were able to work with me on my timeline, and their install team is top notch. It's been five years since the first job they did for me, a large awkwardly shaped room, and the wall-to-wall carpet is still stretched tight with no wrinkles or visible seams. I hired Next Step NW in June. It is now mid November and we are nearing completion on what I was…read moretold would be a 3-5 day project. We finally started work in mid October (4 weeks ago). The main problems were lack of communication (once just showed up at my house one morning with an hour's notice but I hadn't seen the text bc I was sleeping), lack of project/sub contractor management, and poor planning. I have a permanent temporary fix on the kitchen sink plumbing because the plumber was called in too late in the project. My cabinet, counter, and backsplash are all off by about 3 inches and I was just told to live with it. We also can barely fit the oven in the space allotted for it. In an effort to try to speed things along, I had paid a couple of subcontractors (chosen by my contractor) directly. I was then told that bc I paid them, he didnt have to manage that part of the project. Additional issues: tile was installed so that a large grout line was noticeable. I brought this to the contractor's attention and he said that once the excess was wiped up it would look good (not the case). It took some convincing to get him to fix it. At no point has the contractor apologized or even acknowledged that things haven't gone as planned. To be fair, a lot of the work looks very nice (minus what is mentioned above) which is why I did 2 stars instead of 1. I do NOT recommend hiring this company for contracting.

I contacted Next Step Northwest and communication was GREAT! They finished the job in less then half time then Home Depot Contractors. A plus is Northwest will Do the caulking as well! Where others will not. They did a better job than Home Depot contractors and I will be using them for my other projects in my home. Shayne and his employees are able to do plumbing, painting, kitchen remodels, anything you can think of, they can do! Also they are a great price. They cost the same as homedepot flooring with the install but Home Depot did not include caulking. Also trim looked AWFUL with Home Depot contractors. I Called around and getting estimates Shayne was better in price then other private contractors and local businesses. His team has great customer service, and can do pretty much anything! He takes pride in his work and goes the extra mile to ensure it looks great!!

I had to make a few design and finishing changes due to my own preferences, and Tom was incredibly patient and accommodating. I'm very pleased with the final result. While the overall cost wasn't the cheapest, I believe it was worth it for the quality of work. He even went above and beyond by taking our old paint cans to the recycle center and gifting us a handmade wooden spatula for Christmas! If you're looking for a professional who takes pride in their work and goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction, then Tom is the guy!

I built my house in 2020 and wouldn't you know it one year after my contractor warranty expired I started experiencing squeaking floors in the living room and master. I tried to live with it but after a few years I gave up. I had Aaron come out to look things over and he gave me a bid that very day. We then set up a day for them to come out and they were here right on time. Upon inspection we found out the subfloor had been nailed in instead of screwed down which is why everything was starting to squeak. The guys were great about moving the heavy furniture out and then back after they finished. Give the local team a try, I'm sure you'll be impressed.
