There are so many positives about Quail Ridge RV Park that it's hard to decide where to start. I say that due to the many types of activities that people come to the area for, anything from it being a world-famous mountain biking haven to a mecca for Bigfoot or Sasquatch enthusiasts. Add in the many beauties of nature which abound in the area, and you'll find many options from hiking and swimming in the area, good food nearby and dancing in the evenings at nearby 'faraway' clubs. Quail Ridge is so far out, it's in, like it said in an old sixties' song. You are far away enough from everything that you capture that 'away from it all' feeling and close enough that all your needs are easily accessible. Combine that with Quail Ridge being an integral part of the Clipper Mills community, just like Buck's General Store or One Eyed Jacks, and you're in like Flynn wherever you go. One can stay nightly, weekly, monthly and/or forever and they're all good options. I recommend the park for daily getaways here and there. It's also great for RVers going from one big park to another and I wouldn't think of it as just a place to hunker down for the night. It's also a wonderful, carefree way to spend a week or more. With the eclectic blend of nice people, it's also a great place for you to live your life with just enough company, just enough nature, and just enough being pampered and looked after to really take being that rugged individual in stride. Don't fight the urge.

The Manager here, had been clearing spaces and giving priority to families affected by the fire. Eddie the manager is friendly and available when we have had questions. Goose Lake campground is a small Forest Service campground located on the Gold Lake Highway just…read moresouth of the more well-known Gold Lake campground. It is often simply used as overflow for the latter. However, although much smaller than Gold Lake, it is no less beautiful, and the lack of motorized watercraft give it a quieter, more serene appearance. Not camping at the time, we were simply looking for a nice lake to have a picnic by that was accessible by car. In the Lakes Basin area, in spite of what everyone says, this is no mean feat. The forest service seems to assume that the great majority of users have four-wheel-drive vehicles anyway, so no sense wasting money fixing the multitude of hazardous potholes on seemingly every access road. At this campground, we took one look at the dirt campground road and its giant potholes, and aborted an attempt to drive in. Fortunately, off the highway just south of the entrance is a large dirt area to park, fairly devoid of holes, that had a walk-in path to the campground and the lake. Goose Lake is a short walk from that parking area, and if you don't mind sitting on a rock, there is an abundance of beautiful areas to have lunch by and enjoy the water. Even if you only have a short amount of time, Goose Lake is worth a visit. The campground is small, with only 13 spots, and was quite quiet during our midday visit. The big disadvantage to this campground: no water. You would probably need to make visits to nearby Gold Lake and refill water supplies. The vault toilet was clean and relatively odor free. The daily camping fee is only $10, and does not take reservations. To reach the campground, go south on Highway 89 from Graeagle for 2 miles, then proceed south for 12 miles on the Gold Lake Highway. Definitely a four star for day use, but potholes and the lack of water knocks it down a star for camping...

If the staff happen to read this, please know I genuinely appreciate how nice and professional you all are. The site we choose has full hookups and we've never had an issue. The campground has cable and WiFi if that's something important to you. They also do a really fun campground trick or treat during the Halloween season (call for dates) where all dress up, decorate their spots and hand out candy to the kids. The campground has plenty of shade which is nice. They also have a dog park with poop bags at the ready. They do have a store, but it is limited. Overall great experience and we will return.

Spot 19 could use a little work as far as a retaining wall. There isn't a lot of walking around room when you get out of your trailer or rv.. If you're not careful you may fall into your neighbors site.. All the room for this spot is in front of your trailer. The owner Brian is very helpful and a really nice guy. All site have 30 and 50 amp hook ups with running water. A huge plus is every site has it's own dump station. We will definitely be back when camping in the area...

Worth the three hour drive for a day trip. I wasn't sure on what to expect specially since I've…read morenever had a reason to go to Yuba County BUT I'm so glad we found the New Bullards Bar Reservoir, which is where the Dark Day Camp Ground is located. Great for swimming, boating, and camping. If you are going for day use, get there early preferably before noon. Parking is limited. The area where we parked only had space for less than 20 cars and that's parking creatively to fit all 20. Bring a portable grill because there are plenty of picnic tables but limited number of grills and they are not always near the tables or clean. I hate sharing food with bugs so we placed our canopy with a mesh screen over one of the picnic tables where we had our food. The spot we were at had some, maybe around 5-10 that I could see, unwanted winged visitors but it was tolerable. The drive was not bad. There are areas where the road is winding but not too steep. Not a lot of oncoming traffic and there were also few cars heading the same direction as us. We went on a Saturday and once we passed Sacramento traffic to Yuba County was light. I would have given this place 5 stars if the grills were more accessible and the toilet area did not smell like a toilet area.
