I am a Senior in the BSN program at Chamberlain's Columbus Campus. I will be finished with my…read moreBachelor's of Nursing degree at the end of August 2016. I'm an honor student and a member of Sigma Theta Tau. I will tell you that people aren't kidding when they say nursing school is hard. I've taken courses at Columbus State and Ohio State (like anatomy, organic chemistry, statistics, etc.). Nursing school is much more difficult. With that being said, the professors at Chamberlain are going to do everything in their power to help you understand the content. There are also many services students can utilize. Our campus has one of the (if not THE) most comprehensive Sim labs in the state. Chamberlain also has a great reputation in Columbus and continues relationships with hospitals like Riverside, Grant, OSU, Nationwide Children's, etc. I have had a vast array of clinical experiences. I have scrubbed into bone surgeries and cesarean sections, watched an angiography, helped deliver a baby, assisted in would care, and much more. We have had the opportunity to work in nursing homes, homeless shelters, rehabilitation centers, psychiatric and behavioral health centers, public health, schools, camps, and in hospitals. Also many schools do not offer a critical care course. At Chamberlain it is a part of the curriculum and clinical experience. Some clinicals can be a fair distance. I have not had to commute more than 20 minutes (with the exception of camp weekend), but some of my classmates have had a session or two with an hour commute each week. It happens. It's nursing school, they teach you to deal with chaos. Things I do not love about Chamberlain: The grading scale: 94%+ is an A (4.0) 92-93% is an A- (3.75) 89-91% is a B+ (3.5) and so on.... It's difficult to keep a high GPA. ATIs and HESIs (but again it's nursing school) And the expense. Chamberlain is not cheap. Apply for scholarships. I've received $14,000 in scholarships. Chamberlain cares about whether you pass the NCLEX the first time. They will invest time and effort into that goal. If you are up for a rewarding challenge, check into Chamberlain. (4 stars for cost and grading scale)

This school gives you all the tools you need to succeed, and has helped me develop my test taking, studying, and clinical skills so much. The professors and other faculty are incredible and I owe it all to them. I highly recommend this amazing institution.

School likes to test new curriculum on classes, but when it is clear that it is not working, they…read morerefuse to change it during the class as the "syllabus is a binding contract." Changes are only made after 90% of the class has failed and are required to retake the class, even though every single student has advised the course is ineffective and unreasonable. For example, requiring students to take practice exams where the student is required to spend at least 1 minute per question. There is no follow-up on what is wrong so the student cannot learn from the mistakes and one of the tests is 250 questions, which means the student is required to sit at the testing station for over four hours. If you immediately know the answer to a question, you still have to sit and wait out the full minute. The tests are so difficult, ever student in the class failed. Students had A's up to 100% in the class prior to the first practice exam and now they are failing the class. The administration appears to be inexperienced, or is strictly focused on profit and not proper education. Would not recommend.

So, I had dropped my daughter off to begin her third year of college here. (Insert tears) After…read morecompleting 2 full years & one summer term I feel I am able to write this from a parents point of view as an out of state parent. My daughter loves the quality of education that she is receiving at the college but the dorms are less to be desired (of course). The cost of college education is crazy & when you have to add in dorms, & food it's almost unattainable. I do believe that Capital is working to make improvements to the deficits in these areas even though they come at a higher cost. I like that Capital tries to provide part-time jobs for students & it's not just based off of income as some other colleges do. I like that with the school being smaller some professors seem to be more attentive to students & notice things out of the ordinary. I also like that when I was concerned about my sick child & called the president of every department that I could find the number to they all responded & checked on my child as well as returned my phone call! I don't like that sometimes the different departments dont tell each other what's going on. I believe that financial aid & accounts payable should know the same info & able to correctly communicate that to parents & students when clarification is needed. Overall, if my child is happy I'm happy.
