The course is two hours and she has a nice set up in the basement of her house. She has all the equipment and the BLS card is issued after passing the test and completion of the course. I got there early and they were able to get me started. Use their app to update your info ahead of time (I did it while standing there, just took a few minutes, but could save you time.) I hadn't donated in awhile, so they filled me in on changes (the app, some exercises, etc.) Everything went smoothly. Hang out for snacks afterwards.

I am an emergency physician in Ohio. And last night the Red Cross helped us save a life. We had a…read more40 year old man come in with esophageal bleeding after a liver transplant. We used 48 blood products from the Red Cross including blood, platelets and FFP. The man survived to get to a transplant center and is doing well. We had to go on trauma diversion because we had no blood products we used everything in the Red Cross was able to get us blood products within five hours so we could then help save traumas again. Donating really does save lives. This man can now possibly live a full life.

You can bring your own scrubs instead of buying theirs, as long as they are solid dark blue. The only thing that really needed changed was the way the curriculum was set up - instead of passing out a syllabus that told you what would be happening on which day, the instructors sort of just told you the day before what you should have read for tomorrow. That was kind of annoying, especially most people in the evening class are also working full-time during the day. It also created some confusion when one instructor told us one chapter to prepare for the next day but then the next day, the other instructor said we were supposed to go over & be tested on a different chapter. Other than that, I had a great experience and feel well-prepared.
