Quality Homes provides valuable design and size advice upfront when planning for a new home. They are very skilled at determining placement of homes and offering very nice landscaping options that fit the sites. After their homes are installed, they reliably and quickly respond to outstanding punch list items and follow through with warranty repair consistently. They stand behind their work and take care of their clients. I had them put in a new home in Capitola in 2022 and I had a very good experience. Three years ago, I bought a manufactured home from  Chuck and Christine Thorne, owners of Quality Homes. It was, and is  defective. Over the past 3 years, I have called, emailed, sent photos, and spoken to Chuck and Christine in person and they have done nothing to mitigate the problems. When it rains, windows leak water into the house, siding is cracked and not installed according to the manufacture's instructions. They promised fencing and gates that they did not provide. Interior walls are cracking. The house was not settled into the lot correctly to prevent rodent intrusion - I had to hire professional help to remove rats. I purchased a 9-year old Fleetwood factory-built home from the original owners. This home was installed by Quality Homes and was supposed to have a 10-year warranty. I called and went to see Quality because the siding was falling off and there were several other construction-related problems. Quality did not return my phone calls. After I went to their office, they mysteriously lost my phone number. After 5 phone calls and visits, they finally returned a call and said they wouldn't do anything to uphold the warranty and I should hire a contractor. If youre wondering whether they stand behind their work or you , I'd say the answer is "no." read more

My wife and I have consulted with and used the services of Quality Homes on three separate occasions. They assisted us in selling two mobile homes and one manufactured home in the space of the last three years. We were very aware that Quality Homes is a Manufactured Home Dealership which is exactly why we hired them. In addition to designing and selling new manufactured homes, they have the broadest knowledge about all aspects of buying and selling new and used mobile homes and we wanted to use their experience in this field and their knowledge of the area to help us sell our existing homes. Those who do not work within the manufactured home industry, and who are not used to dealing with the numerous mobile/manufactured home communities in Santa Cruz County, just do not have the know-how to properly show such a home or advise clients fairly and thoroughly. Our Mother passed away and my brother and I don't live in California. We needed to sell from out of state. Christine, Chuck and Melanie were professional, kind, very knowledgeable about the value of the home. They worked with us to sell the home first, but after the inspection report we realized the mobile home needed too much work to sell it. So, they rewrote the contract to purchase the home from us and bring in a new home. Quality Homes was prompt in getting the paperwork changed and processed. When Chuck and Christine worked on our project helping us design our forever home, they were wonderful. They really went the extra mile to help us get what we wanted, and we had a great working relationship. We even naively thought we'd continue to be friends. And during this whole process, Christine repeatedly saying what a QUALITY home this was, and that they would ALWAYS stand behind it. After we moved in (and had paid them our money), all that changed. After the first few items were done on the "punch list", they became less and less responsive, and after major problems were found with our siding, they finally left us to deal directly with the manufacturer, taking no responsibility for selling us a defective home. Instead of a "forever battle" with them, we decided to completely re-do the siding and window trim ourselves, for fear that even one year of weather damage would create more internal problems. Certainly the manufacturer was also at fault, but if Chuck and Christine would have had the decency and integrity to at least meet us halfway to help mitigate this unforeseen expense, it would have redeemed them in our eyes. Our neighbor (with the same dealer and manufacturer) wasn't so lucky to have the resources to do it herself, and we watch and worry every year when she gets out the towels while water is literally pouring into her home. (I'm not exaggerating). The point is that we trusted them, we trusted their words, and they let us down big time. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone who values working with an ethical business. read more

When I first went looking to buy a mobile home, I really knew nothing about them. But early on, I had the great good fortune to meet Chuck and Christine Thorne of Quality Homes in Capitola, California. Right from the start, they helped me understand what the manufactured home market was all about. The Thorne's have been designing, building, and installing manufactured homes for many years, and have earned their reputation as experts in the field. Soon we were viewing available mobile homes up and down Santa Cruz county. Christine was tireless in her efforts to find just the right place for me. I immediately came to appreciate her discerning eye for detail; she quickly pointed out things I would never have noticed myself. When there was a question about the roof on one place, Chuck had a professional roofer up there in 20 minutes flat. The whole process gave me a much deeper understanding of manufactured homes: their construction, the rules that govern the market; even insights into the personality of the parks themselves -- the subtle differences that make it more than a place to live, but a community to come home to. It was an absolute joy to work with Chuck and Christine and also Heather Gray at Quality Homes. They are those rare folks that combine a no-nonsense approach to business, with an attentive and personal style that inspires confidence and trust. I'd like to pass on the good word about Quality Homes in Capitola. I have been happy with their product and the service that has been provided. I had them design from scratch a mobile home or me, and it turned out nicely, for the most part. They put a huge amount of time and energy into my project - and the results are apparent. Whenever someone sees my place, the reaction is always with praise . There are a few different companies in this area that do the same thing, but Quality Homes has been a cut above the competition. As with any new construction effort there were some challenges and snafus, and in retrospect I feel Quality Homes has done an excellent job in making sure I would be comfortable in every way in my new home. read more

After having lived in one of their new homes for a couple years let me say that their idea of "quality" is not even close to the dictionary definition, much less the average consumer's. There's nothing "quality about having a bathtub faucet breaking off, disallowing shower capabilities and learning that the PVC pipe had been broken and poorly sealed back together prior to move-in. Or discovering that the water control handle of the same bathtub faucet comes off in your hand because they failed to put the screw in to hold it onto the faucet unit. Or the paint around the kitchen sink's back splash cracking and falling apart on the first contact with water. I won't even go into the instal worker's thieving girlfriend or how the only concern of the two key people at QH was that no one in the mobile home park should find out about it. It was only through my actions that the stolen items got returned. QH didn't even bother to do anything in that regard. Nothing. Shoddy people and shoddy work. I'll leave it at that. read more

I have rarely felt as delightfully and beyond competently served as I did when working with Christine Thorne of Quality Homes. She was thoroughly engaged in working with me to produce a mobile home that would meet all of my needs, wants and aesthetics. In visiting one of Quality Home's previous installations, I could tell that high quality was of the utmost importance, both within the manufactured home and in the exterior groundwork. Nothing was overlooked in assuring that functionality and beauty were created. She had photographs at her fingertips that showed me exactly what certain aspects of the home would look like so I could be certain that what I was choosing was my first choice down to the smallest detail. She left no stone unturned in attempting to stay within my budget while still providing what would have been the ideal home. She also guided me step by step through the park approval process and other paperwork, answering all my questions. She provided a wealth of information based on her extensive experience and investigated all details to make sure I knew what I was getting into. I eventually realized I could not move forward with this project for reasons that had nothing to do with the services I had received from Christine, Chuck and the office staff. And even at this point, Christine was as gracious as ever. I had a tremendously fun and satisfying experience working with Christine both in person and by phone.
