We are a team with younger children, and parents made a point of supervising kids closely, following curfews, and being respectful to staff. Despite this, we were treated with suspicion and hostility from the moment staff realized we were a hockey team. On our first night, the hotel offered an empty room for kids to play mini sticks. The following day, when kids asked again, we were offered a different room that was dirty and had broken glass on the floor. Staff were notified, but no apology or concern was shown. That evening, while supervised kids were using the pool, another family (not part of our group) opened an unlocked side door and ran into the snow before jumping back into the pool. Some of our kids followed. There were no warning signs and the door was not locked. The pool was immediately closed by staff without testing water levels, and parents were falsely accused of children urinating in the hot tub. By 8:30 p.m., all children were in their rooms with parents. The following morning, our team manager received a rude email accusing our children of running the halls late at night and harassing guests--none of which occurred. The situation escalated further the next evening when staff aggressively confronted parents at the pool and accused a guest of having alcohol without cause. When another parent calmly attempted to speak to the desk manager to de-escalate, the staff member pushed past her and retreated to her office, where police were called. The OPP attended and confirmed there was no disorderly behavior. Everyone was allowed to remain for the night. Beyond staff behavior, the hotel itself was dirty and poorly maintained. Our room had a dead bug and personal items left behind, public areas were not well kept, and breakfast service was slow and inattentive. We would not recommend this hotel to families, sports teams, or anyone expecting professional service or basic cleanliness.

There is a restaurant in the hotel, the Grape and Olive Wine & Martini Bistro, but there are lots (Swiss Chalet, McDonald's, etc.) within walking distance ... I had supper last night at Kelsey's, which is across the street. I had breakfast in the restaurant in the hotel this morning ... two eggs, peameal bacon, toast and homefries ($8) and a glass of milk. It was good! I'd stayed here again.

Things to know: - rooms will be on the cozy side - very comfy beds though - nice modern washrooms - flat panel TVs with cable. - good WiFi. - there are some interesting wings connected by different stairwells. If you have mobility issues make sure you ask for a wing which the elevator services. Staff are great. There is a first room I was given had an issue, so they moved me to another room right away. There is a complimentary continental breakfast provided off the lobby in the morning. Walkable to shops and restaurants in downtown Orillia. Parking is in a lot at the back (it's small though - so there is overflow parking a short walk away). There is a Fionn Macools attached to the hotel.

The hotel is not very big and the room we got was almost uncomfortably small. We stayed on the third floor which had a very small window. We could see the water but it wasn't a great view. The elevator was under construction so we had to use the stairs. Normally not a problem, but lately I've had a bad back, so I would have preferred a ground floor room, especially since I had to carry my senior dog up and down the stairs whenever he had to go outside to check his pee-mail. Other than that, the staff was friendly and helpful and the location was really great. Only a block or so to the water and lots of great little restaurants nearby. Everything you need is within walking distance, from groceries to liquor store and Everton between. Rates are fairly reasonable but should've been a bit lower because of no working elevator.

She seems very lazy and doesn't do checks to verify rooms are cleaned to any standard. Do they even have standards of cleaning??? The AC and Wifi worked well. There is a public hot tub; but it has been out of service for some time. A corporate review link was sent to me and returned to BW corporate. For a fact BW corporate does send the full review to the general manager; or whomever looks after customer service at the property. No one reached out to me from BW Orillia hotel. This alone highlights their callous and uncaring attitude towards guests. No apologies; no trying to win me over to come again. Horrible!!! Not sure if I'd give this property a second chance!

This place is certainly convenient, but I think they believe that its proximity to the Casino justifies a much higher cost than you would expect for a very basic hotel such as this one as our room cost us $170 for the night. We had a room on the first floor with a single king bed. It's a basic room, nothing fancy and overall it seemed relatively clean although there was a huge stain of some sort on the cushioned chair, not that we really intended to use it, but perhaps some extra time spent cleaning, or even better, replacing furniture that can't be cleaned would earn them a higher rating. The front desk staff weren't overly friendly, but they weren't rude either. It started snowing mid-afternoon (and continued all night), so the 'shuttle' service to the casino was very welcome. The front desk clerk told us that the shuttle cost was $8/carload which is reasonable, but again, for the price of the room and their proximity to the casino, this is something I believe they should offer as a free service. The shuttle was actually a stretch limo, which was nice, but as it can only handle 7 passengers per trip, I knew that getting back to the hotel after the show was going to be a nightmare. I'm sure the driver makes a killing on the short back and forth trips as although the front desk advised it was $8/carload, I as well as the other 2 couples all paid the driver $8 on our trip over to the casino, thus he made $24 for one trip. As it was starting to turn into a miserable night weather wise, paying $8 for a door-to-door limo ride was well worth the money. When he dropped us off at the casino, the driver advised that we should wait at least 1-2 hours after the show finishes before attempting to get a ride back to the hotel as there is always a mad rush for folks heading back when a show first lets out. We wanted to spend some time in the casino anyway, so this was not a big deal for us. 2 hours after the show let out, we still had to wait for him to make 2 trips back and forth before there was room for us (and four other nice folks) to get a ride back to the hotel. I was a little surprised when the driver asked to be paid again as apparently the $8/carload is each way...a tidbit the front desk staff 'forgot' to mention to us. Not a huge deal, but something to be conscious of so you remember to leave the casino while you still have at least $8 in your pocket. :) Breakfast the next morning was OK, nothing special, but nice to have included in the cost. If you visit here in the winter, be careful when walking outside, they don't seem to keep the walkways clear of snow neither at the hotel, nor the casino itself...
