If I could rate this place a zero I would. The room was disgusting. The carpets, furniture and bed sheets were stained. The toilet was dirty. The lock wouldn't lock. We had to put chairs and luggage in front of it so my son wouldn't get out. The AC didn't work and it was hot all night long. If you're needing a place you stay for a night, don't come here. Splurge some and go next door to Comfort Suites.

    Pure grossness

I'm with Katie S. and Danielle U. This place is an absolute TOILET. 1st thing that hit us upon opening the door was the pot smell! It was like the 60's just left. Upon further inspection, things went from bad to worse to totally uninhabitable (see their reviews). I give them applause for toughing it out overnight. My wife and I were so grossed out we left. I stopped at the front desk and voiced my displeasure with as much control as I could muster to the front desk girl. She did offer me another room, but it was quite unlikely that any room would have been a quantum leap enough to be comfortable. The pictures dont show the 1/2" gap under the door that would allow any lizard, snake or bug free access. Nor the chair that a thrift store would turn down due to the dirtiness or the ottoman missing 1 leg that was tippy. I asked for a refund and of course was denied. I've reached out to Choice Hotels and was offered some points - whoopee. My goal here is to get someone that has some authority enough to make a change to listen to me. The fact that there were only 3 other cars in the parking lot should have been my 1st clue. STAY AWAY!!!

Stayed for one night, but great service. Surprisingly the breakfast was really good too. Did not expect to have a Yummy breakfast here.

Great customer service. Room is clean and neat. Would recommend for overnight stay or staying here at this price and beach is not far away.

I travel a lot, and this trip happened to be on my way back from seeing a medical specialist located over 9 hours from my home. The room and building are extremely dated and worn out. There were stains on the walls, bed and floor. The towels in the bathroom are kept disgustingly close to an exposed filthy pipe. I spilled my coffee on the floor and myself in the morning because the door sticks when you try to open it (a safety hazard). We asked for extra bedding and the person attending the desk when we checked in merely plopped a trash bag of linens on the floor for us to retrieve when we came back in from unloading our vehicle. The lady was friendly, but did not seem to care much. Also, I was traveling in a party of 5. I was given 2 water bottles upon arrival. The family that came in after me was given 4 bottles. The breakfast buffet was similar to other locations, except for the flies and non-working pancake machine. The worst part of all? The desk attendant who had the morning shift, Shaunn, stopped me when I came in from walking my service dog. He insisted that I sign a paper about my service animal and then said that this form is "required by Florida law"-- this was a lie, which has either been told to this employee as acceptable to say by his superiors, or it was his idea of intimidation to suit his doubts or judgment of my disability. I felt harassed and annoyed that he would lie to me. I told him I had never been asked to sign one before, but I signed to be cooperative so that I could finish packing up to leave. The problem is that I was inconvenienced and treated differently-- why? Because my disability isn't visible to this bored ableist man? I have had a service animal for several years, have traveled to at least 4 states with said animal, and have never ever been asked to sign a form such as the one I was handed. It asked what my dog did, and stated that I would be charged $250 should they find any "stains" when they go over my room with a black light. Do I get proof they checked it before my stay? I doubt it. Let's be serious- this is a $150 hotel in the middle of nowhere, near a prison in Florida. Do you think it will be clean when checked with this so-called black light? Or is this form a type of intimidation and discrimination? I know I won't be back. I don't recommend this place to anyone. Drive to Marianna instead. Or if you're going another direction, anywhere but here.

The room(s) are spacious, clean and attractive. The beds extremely comfortable. David, and his thoughtful assistant, Ellen, want YOU, the guest, to feel 'at home.' They take great pride in The Sullivan House, and it shows in the details. My husband and I were treated to a tour of the House, and could study details and features of an almost-100-year-old residence. The Sullivan House has been perfected with modern necessities like central air, plumbing updates, refinished floors, etc., without destroying the wonderful feel of a residence its age. Evenings in 'the whiskey room,' extremely comfortable, well-suited for intimate conversation and visiting with others. Even an elk, mounted over the fireplace, added to its ambiance. And the food? Where, I might ask, would one be served a breakfast of Eggs Benedict, granola-topped yogurt; fried eggs over-easy with steak; poached eggs on toast with a wonderful gravy and ham; avocado and fresh tomato with pesto, and lamb seasoned with rosemary and perfectly-poached eggs. Orange juice, a 'clamato,' (virgin Bloody Mary), fresh fruit assortment of blood oranges, bananas and blueberries and raspberries -- and I am sure I am overlooking 'something' -- coffee, awaiting your arrival in the dining room. A special treat, having the Host join you at the breakfast table for stimulating conversation. Because of the unique circumstances of our 5-day stay (for a funeral) I was able to experience The Sullivan House as a venue, when the Host and his assistant, Ellen, treated us to a fine assortment of foods, and use of the home, for a reception following the church service. Leaving the details in their very capable hands, I was delighted with all that was done to make for a pleasant late-afternoon 'tea-of-sorts' for us. Again, the food? Beyond all expectations, with a variety of deluxe sandwiches, vegetables, fruits, and garnishes, and to 'sweeten' such a sad event -- beautifully arranged desserts including two cakes, an assortment of cookies, and chocolates. Our Host could not have been more accommodating, or kind, re-arranging furniture and setting-up, accepting deliveries of flowers, and waiting upon our arrival from the church, opening the doors of The Sullivan House for us, and graciously attending to our guests. But . . . what most impressed me, was our Host's request to 'let him take care' of us. And he did. Extremely well.

I fell in love with the Lodge's elegant furnishings and complimentary snacks in 2019. It was an easy choice when we were in town for a funeral. PROS Free parking and zero street noise. King room has a sofa, Double Queen is large enough for a dance floor! Clean, comfortable & tastefully appointed with natural light, drapes, plush bedding and mini-fridge/freezer stocked with free juice, water, muffins and yogurt. Huge walk-in shower, separate tub, good water pressure and nice toiletries. Lighted closet, cable tv & a cozy fireplace in the lobby. $158 per night. CONS One hanger and 2 washcloths, more were provided upon request. No HBO despite it being advertised & SD TV. Slow Wi-Fi interrupted our shows with a "lost signal" message. Walls so thin it sounded like the guests above us were having a track meet! No housekeeping, no phone in the room or restroom nightlight. Biggest con was being jarred awake at 2am by an ear splitting fire alarm with flashing lights. Last shift ends at 10pm so you're given a phone # in tiny print at the bottom of your receipt to call for after hours help. I was trying to calm my elderly parent while looking for the phone #, my glasses, room key and cell after realizing there's no phone in the room. The after hours # was DISCONNECTED. Because it could have been a fire we all exited and waited in the cold rain. After 20 minutes no-one came & there was no way to reach the Lodge. I called 911 so they could cut off the alarm but we got no rest. The next morning the desk attendant was cleaning rooms after checkout. She was on the phone telling the manager "no-one said anything.." I told her about our ordeal and that we'd check out at noon because we were exhausted. She apologized, took my # and said the manager would call. No-one called. TIPS - bring a nightlight for the restroom and a cell phone. Make sure the after hours # works. Pray there's no middle of the night fire alarm but keep your phone, glasses, receipt, shoes, coat & umbrella nearby just in case. SUM As beautiful and comfortable as the Lodge is, the fire alarm severely disrupted our rest. We paid for respite not to stand outside in the cold rain at 2am. The non-working after hours # is unsafe and unacceptable. Since management doesn't care, I cannot recommend.
