This was a sold out location so there wouldn't have been a problem filling the room. No compassion from this hotel and I will never stay here in the future again. I would recommend to stay away!

Upon checking in we learned that the pool was closed, and only half full. They did say that we could go across the street to another hotel and use their pool, but they had different hours and we were tired from our trip. No pool for us. Lady at the front desk was nice and friendly. We went to the room and found the duvet cover was dirty and appeared to have spots of blood on it. Went downstairs and she switched our room to a larger one and was apologetic. New room was fine. Tv had a big scratch in the screen and the toilet ran all the time, but a comfy soft bed made sleep easy. Breakfast was the standard hotel stuff. Boxes of cereal, juice in those plastic cups with the foil lid, and the precooked and reheated eggs/sausage patties/biscuits in the plastic bins. A solid place to stay for work or a place to crash, but not meant to be a romantic heat away stay.

Our stay was pleasant. The manager was polite and affable and we had a nice conversation about Kirksville and the new Holiday Inn going up not a hundred yards from his establishment. The room was quite large with two comfortable beds, clean bathroom with a great shower, a working TV, and all the unnecessary accoutrements of modern motel rooms (coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave oven). On this particular trip, this was the least expensive and the nicest room my wife and I occupied. We tend to stay away from the interstate highway and the big hotel chains, as they are overproduced and overpriced. p.s. We couldn't find any bed bugs.

Choose somewhere else to stay in Kirksville! Update: Here's the response from the owner after three days, two phone calls, and four emails: "I never got a message from you by phone! As we discussed on the phone, our check in time is 5-7, and if you need a different time, we request that you set that up in advance. We waited and waited, and turned away other paying customers, as an e-mail is not an approved Cancelation. As a business we are unable to request your refund."

The girl at the front desk told us nobody had told her we needed to live early. She made a pot of coffee, she said she was new and had not received any training. She didn't know how to open the juice dispenser. We asked for a printed receipt, she said there wasn't any ink in the printer & had asked for help a few hours earlier but "nobody came down to help" I took it as though "they" lived in the building.
