Absolutely ZERO stars!! They were determined to charge us for having to wash our towels because they had a little bit of make up on them. We took the towels to the bathroom and washed them with hand soap and they came clean. The lady at the counter and man over checking the rooms for deposit refunds were absolutely RUDE and tried to talk down to us. After showing them the towels were clean the cops were called on us and they tried to ban us from all Choice Hotels. Little did they know that would just backfire on them. The man wouldn't give the police officer his information so nothing was done, but a joke made of them. The police officers also told us they visit this motel quite frequentl. Our room didn't have a hair dryer, so I had to head to a dance competition with a soaking wet head. Tried to call and tell them, but the phone in the room didn't work. Our other room's air conditioner quit working during the night. The lady at the front asked why we didn't walk to the front desk to change rooms during the middle of the night. Our other room also didn't have a latch lock, therefore we had to put chairs in front of the door to prevent taking the chance on our toddler escaping. If you are looking for a decent and clean place to stay with your family, this is NOT where you want to be! read more

Wish I could leave a zero star. The room was disgustingly dirty. The whole property had spills everywhere and smelled terrible. Our shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a year. Where to even begin... I have stayed at some Quality Inn's that were very decent for the price. If I had paid half of what I paid for this room, it would have been double what I should have paid. There is only one reason that this room is getting one star and that is because I can't give it anything less. I prepaid this room online, which is the only reason that I did not immediately ask for a refund as it stated when that the room was non refundable. When I arrived, I went to the desk and asked when I would be able to check in as it was not quite 1500 yet. The lady stated, as she continued to sit in her char that was very low to the ground and it has a very high counter, that I could check in now. Awesome, I stated! She, still sitting, asked if I had a reservation. I said, yes ma'am and gave her my name. She then said without looking up, I don't have a reservation in that name, are you sure it isn't the hotel next door? I stated yes ma'am, let me go get the conformation number for you. I went out to the car and got the conformation number and brought it back in. I gave her the conformation number and she said oh, this is for tomorrow, not today. I stated that I would not be in town tomorrow. She just kind of shrugged her shoulders and looked back down at her phone or whatever she was looking at. I asked for the phone number of corporate and she gave it to me, without looking it up, that should have been my first clue.I went out to my car called corporate and they changed, or should I say, had her change the reservation. I walked into the room (a handicap room) and went to go get some ice in my cup. The ice machine was not working. They had me towards the back of the hotel and the ice machine was about midway towards the front. To someone that hasn't had a lung removed and mobility issues, that probably would not have been a big deal, for me it was huge. I go back to get my car because I couldn't walk up to the front and around the building to go to the office to ask about ice and there was no phone in the room to call the front desk. She informed me that there was one downstairs on the back of the building on the opposite side or I could just go upstairs. I suppose that because I weigh about 100 pounds soaking wet that she thinks I could climb the stairs without issue. After I got the ice, I returned to the room, only to notice that there was no mirror above the sink. I thought to myself, not big deal, I will flip the camera around on the iPad and use it as a "mirror". I had just driven a good distance and was tired, so I got my clothes to take a shower. They did have a shower chair which was the only good thing. I took my shower and went to try to relax and watch TV. The cable, if you can call it that, is very limited. I sat my drink on the bedside table (Of which they only have on with a king size bed) and noticed the time on the clock was incorrect so I picked up the clock to set the time. Then I noticed that the room had not been dusted. Okay, whatever I'll deal with it. Like I said, I was exhausted from a long drive. Next morning, I went to make coffee, no problem, I made the 1st cup drank it. I went to make a second cup and I am assuming a previous guest had used a pod and put it back in the wrapper. "Housekeeping" put the wrapper back on the tray with the unused pods to be used again, I suppose. In any case, I made two trips to this Quality Inn, my 1st and last. Just trying to save others they headache and money. Lesson learned. Never prepay. read more

Everything. They don't clean your room. The complimentary breakfast is barely edible. Front desk is extremely slow. Phone doesn't work to even call the front desk to complain about the uncleaned room. YOU have to carry your dirty towels to the front desk to get clean ones; and then it takes forever for them to find towels. Do yourself a favor and go to the motel next door. And bring your own batteries if you want to use the TV remote. read more

I have stayed in this hotel since 2002 after living in Morganton and moving back to Chattanooga. TN..I stay they often visiting family..May 18 - 20..stayed using rewards. I was billed $50.00 for not registering my pet. I had no pet. I have and investigation going on. I am a gold member and took groups of family to stay there throughout the years..I hope they fix this. We stayed here because we were going to a concert in Black Mountain and all the hotels (that accepted dogs) including the Quality Inn wanted near $300 because of the season so we opted to stay further out of town. This Quality Inn was perfect for what we needed for a one night stay. The rooms are old but were clean, the bed was ridiculously comfortable and it was quiet. The pool area was clean as were most of the grounds. The breakfast area was spotless and the food was what you'd expect for a free breakfast. It's not where you would take your family for a vacation, but if you're on the road and need a clean, safe place to stay it was spot on. read more

If I could rate it a 0 stars I would. There was insects all in the room, it smells like smoke in a non smoking room, just horrible. The manager (supposedly) just brushed me off and didn't offer any sort compensation or apology. I left early as soon as I could and this hotel kept my money. This place is in need of a overall update, rooms, pool, and also staff. The staff is so unhappy but it must come down to management because why would you be so unhappy. The housekeeping was annoying, stayed for two days I expected sleep in first day and knock knock at the door and I said I'm here two days they asked if needed anything, I said yes towels. They said will get you later don't have any right now. What the heck. Why did you come to my room. Then my room is right outside the pool I can see my son from the room for a minute while I grab something please don't reprimand me like I'm a child not watching my kid! The room had black mold spots on the ceiling and so much dust behind the beds and television. It was dirty. Honestly should get a two free stay somewhere this horrible! But the convenience and the pool was the only thing kept us there and going, but should of been $50 not $80. read more

The furniture stained and torn. when we reported the cockroaches to the front desk they were very nonchalant about it, acting as if it was an everyday occurrence even after being shown pictures of the infestation ... the lady that checked us in couldn't get the key cards to work on the door in our original room so we had to move to another room ( cockroach infested)on a different floor where the key card would work. Management allows people to run their BBQ right next to your room, not the person running the BBQ's room, filling your room with noxious fumes, in violation of the NC fire code, and then won't move you to another room by lying saying they have no rooms available eve though they show available rooms on their website for sale. Dangerous location with potential for carbon monoxide poisoning; don't put your life in danger staying here. The rest of the place is okay, room was clean but smelled strongly of febreeze or something like that, breakfast is pretty good for a motel, pool looked nice. read more

Falsley charged a pet fee for "hair" found in room. Its $60. I could care less about the money. I care about the lying. I have 14 people who can attest that I had no pets period. I waS there with group of race boats. They said they had a video of me walking a dog into room. When pressed they sent some grainy video of a bed with a spot on it. No evidence of a person with a dog. I have a 90# doberman pinscher who was at home with my wife. Hard to miss a doberman on your grounds!! Total bullshit. Dont stay here or you may be charged with bogus fees. Im contacting the bbb, chamber of commerce, local news and every social media outlet as I hate liars. read more

I stayed here for one night earlier this month. I would say the main selling point is that it offers relatively cheap rates without being a complete dump. Don't get me wrong, it's starting to show its age; the bathroom was old, had a few mildew spots, and was slightly depressing. Those bed sheets, though! Please don't waste your time here...I've never been one to write bad reviews but I feel like I have to warn people. For starters, when I went to check in there was one only person working there and about 8 people waiting to check in. I understand being low staffed, but it took him 10 mins to check in each person. Finally get checked in and into my room and the lights in the bathroom/sink area strobe and we cannot keep them on. Disappointing. The door only had one lock on it because the deadbolt had been broken off which made me nervous so we put the chair in front of the door and I figured it should be fine. Low and behold at 11 pm someone tried coming into our room!!! Banging on door and window. I'm not familiar with the area but I'm so thankful we put the chair there. Anyway. Next morning we go to get breakfast around 8 am, the room is open but there is no food or coffee anywhere! Last straw. Why open the doors if there is no breakfast??? Finally checked out and ran out of there. You're better off sleeping in your car. read more

For a non-smoking room it smells foul. It is an old building which needs updating. If you have ever been to a retirement facility thats exactly what it smells like. Carpet is torn up and stained and wet on your feet. Friendly staff, but I would spend the extra few dollars and go to the Hampton. read more

Currently staying here with my husband and 2 children. We'll be here for 3 days total. It's a very nice area, our room was very clean and smelled like fresh air. Bathrooms are small, king bed is comfy The TV kind of sucks because it's all blurry we tried fixing and asked someone to help but no one could. But breakfast is good! And it was of no consequence when we reported to the desk that there were 6 or 7 guys on the second floor drinking and throwing beer cans. The man from housekeeping embarrassed me so poorly in the lobby in frnot of people accusing me of something I did not do. And they do not give discount for veterans(at least not us). Overcharged us. The rooms were spacious but it could've been cleaner. You could see the dried dirty water streaks on the bathroom floor where someone had mopped. But other than that, it was fine. The beds were comfy enough, the TV huge and there is a complimentary breakfast. The staff was superb. Friendly and always with smiles. The only major complaint we had (outside of cleanliness) was the fact that there were bugs in the room. Not roaches, but no-see-um/gnats and standard flies. If you want to stay in Morganton, skip this hotel by all means! Don't waste your time, seriously!!! I booked a room at the hotel for my husband through booking.com. The hotel charged my credit card with the full amount the day of the booking even though it was under a Free cancellation policy. I stated my husband as the guest, so that it was clear I wasn't there with him. Today he arrived to the hotel to check in and the lady at the reception refused him. She said it was some NC law that you need to present the same credit card you used at the time of the booking. It is a total BS! We have traveled MANY times for work (NC and other states) when work made all reservations and never ever had this issue. The lady was very rude and didn't care to solve the problem. The hotel clearly had plenty of rooms available, but she simply refused him saying he couldn't stay there. No other solutions at all! She said it was okay by her that he had to take his business to the Days Inn next door. read more

For Morganton this isn't so bad. I didn't have the experience the other reviewers had. This the room was spacious and mine was clean. Old? Yes. But decent. I don't think this place is as bad as other's have said. I've stayed in FAR worse. To me this is a solid 3 stars. read more

First off I'm surprised by the negative reviews. My husband and I have stayed here for over 1 week, and we have no complaints. We typically stay at 5 star hotels, but due to a very long stay we decided to take a risk and go with one of the least expensive hotels in Morganton. Let's be honest, its a lower quality hotel, but the staff is polite (front desk and housekeeping), rooms are spacious and clean, beds are comfortable, plenty of lighting, easy access outlets, large frig, they also provide a hot deluxe breakfast, and they even have a pool. The only negative is the shower curtain, sine water sprays through it while taking a shower so the bathroom gets soaked. If your looking to save a buck, and still be comfortable, I would highly suggest staying at the Quality Inn! read more

Bed Bugs!!!! If I could give below a 1 star I would. My husband, 14 month old, and I were taking our family vacation to the mountains and were so excited. We checked in a little before 7 pm because we were out sight seeing and doing family things. The lady that checked us in was nice. We get to the room and it seems decent. I normally check everything out in the room, but we had just been in a really bad storm and was trying to get our son situated and get dinner before the storm moved on top of us. Finally, around 9 we finally got everything finished and decided to go to bed. At around 12 am my husband woke up and told me he was itching. I thought he was crazy because I wasn't itching. (I had yoga pants on and a t-shirt and he was just sleeping in his basketball shorts) He decided to go and take a shower just to make sure nothing was on him. Around probably 1 am or a little after he laid back down and tried to get some sleep. At 2:00 am he couldn't take it anymore and jumped out of the bed and told me to get up. Sure as the world in the pillow cases there were bed bugs!!!! He took 2 of them down to the front desk where the lady working the desk and a house keeper both saw them. He has two bite marks on his hands and at least four bite marks on his back. Needless to say we checked out of the hotel at 2:46 am. We were told that the front desk manager Kimberly Wright would be in contact with us and that our credit card would not be charged. At 8 o'clock in the morning when Kimberly was supposed to come in she never contacted us. We continued calling until we spoke to her on the phone where she told me, and promised me, that our card would not be charged. She then told me that her maintenance man would be in at 9 o'clock in the morning and that she would have him check the room. We decided to try to at least have a good time and went and did stuff in the mountains so we did not hear from her until 3:30 that afternoon. She told us that there was nothing in the room and that she was going to have to charge our card for the night that we stayed. We had no sleep that night and she still had our first hold on our money and then took out extra money. When I tried to ask who the general manager was of that hotel, I was told that they could not get out any information and that the only way that I could get in contact with anybody was through an email. Before becoming a teacher I worked in customer service for over six years and I know that the customer is always right and I know that you are allowed to give out your managers name and at least say that they will get into contact with you. This has been a nightmare and I pray that no one else stays at this hotel and has to deal with what my family has gone through. My stay was absolutely terrible. I was in Morganton for a family reunion and several of my relatives stayed there and we all some issues. Mine started at check in when they confused me with another guest that just so happen to have the same name. After we finally got checked in we stepped out for dinner, came back and couldn't get in our rooms. The front desk told me they didn't show anyone registered in those rooms. Mind you all my family's luggage was in the rooms, after a heated discussion they gave us keys. The following morning a stranger just walked into my daughter's room with a key. Their excuse for that was they still showed the room unoccupied. We got locked out again and for some reason they attempted to run my wife's card 14 times, which of course the bank froze the card for the unusual charges. Finally at check out we asked for a manager and no one was available. Alex, the housekeeping manager came around and told us they would give us 1/2 off the 1st night and compliment the 2nd. After getting home and checking the bank they billed us for everything. We tried calling the hotel back and management refuse to talk to us and we were told nothing could be done. read more

The most HORRIBLE experience we've ever had with ANY stay...any where! On a recent business trip, our group had secured 6 separate rooms at the Quality Inn in Morganton, NC. They scattered us all over the motel, no where close together. EVERY room reported having COCKROACHES!! When reported to the Manager, their response was "well we sprayed last month." Some slept with their lights on. NONE of the room refrigerators were working and NONE of the ice machines at the motel were working either. The vending machines, even if they were working, are located in one area only of the motel - very inconvenient for the other 3 areas of the property. When One of our party got to their room, the door was open, with lights and TV on. When reported to this to the desk manager, she was unconcerned. When asked if she could guarantee that no one else had keys to her room, the manager said she could not. She was given another room. Two parties had key issues and had to go back for new keys at least twice before they got keys that worked. Construction workers started at 6AM - waking everyone up. Others reported the light fixture in the bathroom was a naked light bulb with exposed wires - no shade covering. Sleep in your car if you have to, but AVOID this property at all costs!!! read more
