My husband booked us a room through a referral from USAA. Needless to say, this place should be taken off the referral list. We got there and found out they have a weight limit on their pet policy. We have 3, all close to or over 50lbs. I'm not sure what the limit is, but they apparently only allow small dogs/pets. Someone else had a massive Rottweiler there, so we brought that up and the employee said they must have lied about their dog. Either way they said we could stay since it was like 9pm, but we had to switch rooms so the employee wouldn't get in trouble from the higher ups seeing us walk through the main building with 3 big dogs. We went from a king bed/suite to a room with two full beds. We had to walk through an outside door that looked like it once had key card access. It was now taped so it won't lock. Not very secure in such a sketchy area. We walked in our room and it smelled like smoke, even though there was a no smoking sign on the desk. I was really upset because we had our 18mo daughter with us. Either way, we stayed because again, it was so late. It was kind of grungy and one of my dogs found something on the floor to munch on, so I had to pry it from his jaws of death. There was dirt on my bedspread, but thankfully the sheets underneath seemed clean... it was dark, so hard to tell. Probably for the best. My husband went to take a shower. There was no water. I'm attaching pictures to show the light in the bathroom and how dirty the tub was. We all went to bed, hoping tomorrow would be better. It wasn't. My husband left to go grab the complimentary breakfast. Our door wouldn't shut, no matter what I did. I eventually had to put the deadbolt on so my dogs couldn't get loose. He came back with a bag of 'breakfast,' which was more like snacks. I'll attach a picture of that too. My husband ran into another guest in the hallway (apparently they checked in at the same time last night) and he didn't have water either! He said he even asked to switch rooms because his smelled so heavily like smoke as well. Sooooo we complained and hopefully they will refund our stay-- we are supposed to be getting a call from management. Great location, but is that enough. To overlook the multitude of small issues with this very very old motel. My man has been coming to this location since he was a little kid. We rediscovered it on one of our many trips to the Smokies. We have had several great experiences here over the years, even with the name/ownership changes...no longer. We were excited to stay here for our 2nd anniversary, especially since we got engaged just down the road at Greenbrier. Well it was just one disappointment after another. It started with the Hot Tub and pool. The hot tub was working and the pool was open but they couldn't be used. The pool used to be warm but is now ice cold. The hot tub used to be too hot, now it was so COLD that I couldn't put more than a toe in it. The breakfast was just as disappointing. We understand that times are tough but things cost more, but really. The waffles were disgusting since they watered down the batter. Very little options even available for breakfast. The staff didn't seem to care too much about anything. Unfortunately, this will be our last time staying here. We'll be better off paying $30 more to stay at the Holiday Inn Express...right next door. read more

I checked in for 4 days. The first morning of my stay I got a knock on my door telling me I needed to check out. When I was telling them I booked for 4 days they didn't care and made me check out anyways. Finally got that figured out and they gave me the same room. The curtains are broken in my room so you can see right through the windows. The water for the shower is super cold. They have free breakfast but when I opened an oatmeal packet 4 bugs came out of it aswell. A spider was found in the toliet by my husband. I know, you don't expect too much when you are staying anywhere for $70, right? Still, there are some simple things that can be done to move this place up a notch. I'm surprised that they haven't taken those steps. The biggest plus is the pool! Wow, having a large indoor pool for this price is outstanding. There is also a decent breakfast selection, thank you! The rough parts were at check-in and the overall look of inattention. The young lady that handled our check-in seemed to be on her first go around. It should have been simple, but it wasn't. She also wasn't aware of the hotel set-up and we walked a long way to our room when there was a door right beside it! Walking through the building, there was a half finished box of Bud Lite sitting on the cabinet to the bar...just in plain grabbing distance for anyone, kids included. The cable box was missing in our room and they didn't have any baby beds to be borrowed. Really? None? Anyway. Just do better, you don't need to invest more, just hide the unused furniture, don't create signs from copy paper and Sharpies, and have someone at the desk that understands check-in! read more

Spend a little extra money and take your business across the street to Best Western. Horrible experience with Quality Inn. Such a bad experience that I will forever avoid Quality Inn's. The condition of the lobby should have been enough for us to walk out, but we were tired and just wanted a place to stay. We finally get into our room (after a 20 minute check in due to the incompetence of the employee) and our room is disgusting. Literal (what appear to be) gnats flying in the room, strands of hair on the comforter, and a bug ON the pillow (see below). Absolutely nasty. Not to mention the entire hotel was extremely sketchy and we felt very unsafe as women in our mid 20's. We quickly decided we needed to go elsewhere and luckily the front desk employee did not fight it. Coincidentally, a middle aged man was also requesting a refund due to the condition of his room. Called on Monday to ask if pool was open due to Covid. Was assured it was. No problem at all. Purchased room for my husband and kiddos based on cyber Monday deal. Check in Friday. Pool closed due to "cold" (it was at least 20-30 degrees WARMER! Friday than Monday when I called) Husband checks in... no pool and the rate has changed significantly. He tries to ignore that. Checks into room and finds a dying mouse in bathroom. Front desk (who has lied to us and cheated us out of our rate) gives new room and shares that the pest control person has been at hotel recently and that's the reason for the mouse. I wish I could say zero stars. Anyway this place has a very nice and polite front desk staff. My room however was another story. Sadly I booked Express Deal on Priceline so I can't even get a refund. Anyway onto the highlights. Upon entering my room, I notice a strong cigarette smell and stains everywhere. Stains on the curtains, walls, floor, and chair. Yuck, but okay the sheets look clean except for the cigarette burns in the covers. There were holes in the wall too. I was willing to overlook all of this because it wasn't a deal breaker for me. Then....we noticed little fleas jumping around. I got down on the floor to look closer and could easily see lots of those little suckers. NOPE...had to leave. Went to the front desk to find they had no other rooms. The only room that they had they weren't renting out because it had a smell? Don't know why they told me about it? Anyway got bitten several times by those stupid fleas and now I'll have to leave all my stuff in the car when I get home to make sure I don't get my house infested with them. So now I've been bitten by fleas and I'm heading home without a refund, and stupid Priceline couldn't care haha. Short story - don't stay here - FLEAS!!!!!!! EDIT: Got home and those fleas are just the gift that doesn't end. I had to leave everything in the car and strip in the garage. I then bagged up my clothes. I then sprayed the garage and carried the bag of clothing back out to the car. I'm flea bombing my car tomorrow and I just gave my dog some flea protection meds in case I brought any inside. $77 for this room is a joke. Had to sign a waiver saying we wouldn't smoke in the room, (we don't smoke) got to the room and it reeked of smoke! The "Hot breakfast" is an apple and a small muffin in a paper bag that you get from the front desk. These hotels need to Stop using COVID as an excuse not to feed their guests and still charge the same prices. Absolute joke, do not stay here, not worth the money in the slightest. This place was disgusting ,multiple hair in sheets, towels , and pillows, curtains were completely stained. Tub was dirty and water facet was broken and constantly leaking. Horrible WiFi and bad tv. The fridge looked like it was from 1950s and rusted. Microwave smelt disgusting. Someone was smoking outside and made the whole room stink. Stay away from this "Hotel"! If it were possible I would give it a negitive star rating. This was to be a business/personal stay. The room was sub par, furniture falling apart and even dangerous. The desk chair was so broken you fell out if you sat in it. Took a day and1/2 to get one. Which caused me to lose a whole day of work. Tried calling the office from the room phone and couldn't. I useed my cell phone and after multiple attempts finally got in touch only to be told " the phones don't work". And the internet wasn't any good. They offered to move me to more expensive room and forme to pay for internet and ," that might help". Add says FREE WI-FI. I had to leave the next morning to try and find a place to work from and then visit family. Upon my return at about 4:40 pm the room hadn't been touched. No clean towels, trash wasn't emptied bed weren't made. After numerous attempts to contact office I had to walk down, I was told that housekeeping was gone for the day. They handed me some fresh towels and trash bags to empty the trash cans. The next morning before leaving to go find a place to work I contacted the office and asked them to please make sure the room was cleaned. They assured me it would be. When I arrived back at about 7:30 pm the room was a mess. However someone had been in the room as they had place shoes on the unmade bed. When I contacted the office they informed that the housekeeper assigned to my room was "in training" Really they don't even know what cleaning a room means? The bathroom was crawling with bugs even found cockroaches in the toilet. I was more then upset, again called to complain and was told no one could bring fresh towels even, but I could come get some. When I got angry and asked what they were going to do about this horrible experience, they said they would call the manger and see what could be done and call me back. When they did they offered a small discount, which I agreed to. He said it would be 3 to 4 days to show up on my credit card,but since I was leaving the next morning it would show on my receipt. When I went to check out the next morning I was told their computers were working slow or not at all, but would email the receipt to me. It's been 24 hour's plus and nothing. Been calling them for almost 2 hours with no answer. There are no less than 4 others hotels with in a 1/2 mile, several I have stayed at before. My advise stay away from this "Quality" Inn read more

Very nice staff and a decent price. I had to stay here overnight unexpectedly when a hiking trip in GSMNP went wrong and we need an affordable room really quick. The bed was comfortable and clean and the location was quiet. The bathroom on the other hand was horrendous and I would actually prefer showering in the woods. There were two lovely people, nice as can be, checking us in and taking our money. But that's the only positive. Our rooms had scratches in the painted bathroom doors, like many people over time had tried to get out. I believe one of our rooms had carpet stains that resembled blood. The air conditioner was broken so the inside temps were in the upper 80s. One room had a microwave, one didn't. It didn't feel clean. It didn't feel comfortable. It didn't even feel safe. The breakfast was...not good. A young man tried to keep up with the dozen people or so in there but there wasn't much food. The waffle maker was slow as could be. Don't let the lobby fool you...The Inn is nothing special to look at and could definitely use some updating, but the service was outstanding and the room was clean and comfortable. The manager offered to help with my luggage and personally showed me where my room was. BTW, yes, that is an indoor pool and spa and you could see how clean it was from the balcony overlooking it. This was the most disgusting room in America. All the sheets were stained brown, or various shades of yellow. There was hair on everything, some from human heads, some from other body parts. The toilet would not flush, the shower "moaned". When we requested new linens, the fresh ones were dirtier than the first set. The attendant at the front desk was unsanitary, he had thick black dirt under every nail. My kids would 't sleep in the beds, and I would not force them. This was probably the most disgusting place I have ever come across. It smelled from check in to check out. We cracked jokes about the sign that says you get 15 min in the room to get a refund.... then understood why. We were checked out in 10 min. Anyone who rates this place higher than a 1 probably lives in some pretty bad conditions or have absolutely no standards. There were holes in the walls, lamp shades were different and stained and barely hanging in there, the gross desk chair looked like they pulled it from the garbage before we checked in, stained gross carpets, bodily fluids on the pictures, cob webs on the ceiling and wall paper was stained yellow and peeling off the wall. We asked to be moved from that room and the front desk said it's the 3rd complaint they had tonight and the only thing they could do was up charge us for $25 to be placed in a different room... we left... read more

I posted my original low-rating review of the Quality Inn, Newport, TN, a few months ago, immediately following my overnight stay there. Among my other complaints was that THE QUALITY INN, NEWPORT TN, charged me for two rooms, though I was traveling alone. Consistent with its past performance, the QUALITY INN, NEWPORT, TN, has yet to dismiss the erroneous charge, despite correspondence with my credit card company. An excerpt from my own correspondence follows. As you will see, I plan to pursue criminal charges if this obvious error is not corrected in short order. ----------------------------- Upon my arrival at 2:30 a.m., I found that the motel in question, the Quality Inn off I-40 in Newport, TN, was halfway through a much needed revamp, with construction equipment blocking several walkways. The young lady who first tried to check me in was new and forgivably slow, but her equally young supervisor was little better. I waited in the lobby for 35 minutes while they tried to find my reservation, with the confirmation number apparently no help at all. And by the way, I informed the staff member who took my reservation and credit card number that I would arrive no earlier than 2 a.m., and did so again the day I was to arrive, during a call to confirm that a room would be waiting. After the wait in the lobby, and this in the middle of the night, with no phones ringing and no other guests or distractions present, the two clerks decided they'd found a room and sent me on my way. Said room was obviously under construction, with power tools, debris, and the remnants of a six-pack of beer present. (Unfortunately, the bottles were all empty.) Tired as I was, I did not wish to clean construction debris off the bed before I could turn in, and the sheets were dirty anyway. So back to the front desk it was. The "uh-oh" look on the young ladies' faces would have been comical if I hadn't been so tired. At that point I should have gone looking for another motel, but I was too tired. In a surprisingly quick 10-15 minutes, they found another room and sent me there. It was dirty but serviceable, and I decided to take advantage of the clean sheets. Having been up for nearly 20 hours, I was finally able to call it a day. After having a talk with myself about being polite, I swung by the front desk on my way out next morning, saw a surly-looking man of Indian or Pakistani appearance, whom I took to be the manager or owner, sitting behind the desk, caught his eye, and summarized the past night's events as calmly and concisely as possible. I don't know his thoughts, because all I received in return was a dirty look. He didn't say a word, but obviously saw fit to charge me for both rooms though I was traveling alone and said so each of the three times I was asked during check-in, as well as when I made the reservation. I posted my experience on Yelp a few days later, and found I was not alone in having had a bad experience with that motel. Again, it was the QUALITY INN IN NEWPORT, TENNESSEE. In short, the first charge was clearly unwarranted, since I never occupied that room because of the conditions I described. Thank you for your continued efforts to set this right. Please pursue this as a fraud case if the QUALITY INN, NEWPORT, TN, remains unwilling to drop the unwarranted charge. I will also lodge criminal complaints and forward copies of this e-mail and any correspondence you can provide to the offices of the Newport City Attorney and Chief of Police, Cocke County Sheriff, and the Fraud Section of the Department of Justice. Checked in for an overnight stay while on a road trip. It was going to be 10 people in three rooms. Our rooms were right by the pool, which had to be 95+ degrees. The actual rooms smelled like pee, and I got dirt all over my hands just from touching the wall. We quickly checked out and went to the Holiday Inn Express across the street, which was extremely nice. We ended up getting two rooms there, and it ended up being cheaper than this terrible place. Checked in for a extended stay male clerk was nice, got to room "disaster" was in area for a funeral was expecting calls from relatives, didn't get any, found out phone in room was broken, also front desk clerk had multiple duties was not at front desk most of the time to answer phone. Then found out bathroom door wouldn't close all the way. The bath tub moulding nasty, screw from bathroom mirror on the floor. Only one maid to clean all rooms she was very nice but over worked. We traveled 400 miles to stay in the Gatlinburg area and we booked this hotel due to the nice pictures online. Those pictures must be very old! When we got here we got to our room and there is holes in the bathroom wall. Chipping paint. And the hot tub had a tint of green to it. So we just turned on the jets and green water came out of the jets it was disgusting! I wouldn't recommend this hotel it's not really worth the money! read more

I had four problems with the Quality Inn in Newport, TN. First, it took the night staff 20 minutes to find a room for me despite the credit-card secured reservation I obtained directly from the motel, not one of the skimmer sites. I wouldn't consider that a big deal except that it was 2:30 a.m. and I had a business appointment the next morning. But that's not all. The place was undergoing renovation, as evidenced by the debris and construction equipment littering the hallway I used....as well as the room they sent me to. So it was back to the office for another delay while the clerk and her trainee searched the computer for a real "ready room." The second room was ok, not spotless by any means, but ok. I rang the desk for an early wake-up call, which the clerk cheerfully acknowledged. It never came. But knowing never to trust front-office staff for anything important, I'd set the alarm on my phone, so no harm, no foul. Thinking that he might want to address a potentially important issue, I notified the front office manager (motel owner?) of the missed wake-up call on my way out. He chose to acknowledge my comments with a surly glare, which I happily returned. And today, nearly two weeks after my stay at the Quality Inn in Newport, TN., I pulled up my credit card transactions to find that this self-same gentleman, or his designee, charged me a second time for the room I'd stayed in on 5/25. I would visit the Quality Inn in Newport, TN, again in a dire emergency, but otherwise stay as far away from it as possible. read more
