Had the pleasure of staying at the smoky mountain villas and it was picturesque. The lodge is large…read moreand spacious over looking Douglas lake. The pool is an infinity pool overlooking the lake. There are watercrafts that can be rented. Overall this is a gorgeous place to stay, quiet away from the busy tourist areas. Definitely a 5 star place if you want a quiet restful vacation with the family.

My family and I had a wonderful trip here last week. There were 10 adults and 8 children (7 of…read morewhich were 4 and under). We stayed in Villa 2 and everyone had plenty of room. We loved the huge deck and the easy access to the stairs down to the playground and dock (do be aware that there is no fence on either side of the stairs so you need to be extra cautious with little ones.) The pool was a huge hit as were the kayaks and paddle board. We rented a pontoon for three days and found several coves to swim on the lake where we were the only group there. A couple helpful hints if you plan to stay here...1. Bring lots of drinking water as the well water tasted very high in minerals. 2. Bring extra camp chairs if you are coming with a group and want to all be able to enjoy the deck at the same time (we ended up eating dinner outside every night). 3. Rent the golf cart if you have anyone in your party with mobility limitation. 4. Make sure you get up at least one morning for sunrise. You can see it while sitting on the deck and is truly magnificent. I can't recommend this place

Every morning lets his truck run for 30 min with fumes coming in my room from around the AC. I complain. He moves one window down and another backs in in front of my window and they both let their trucks run for 30 min with double the fumes. I have been sick since I have been here, 12-20-2025, and just getting worse. Stomach pain. Cannot keep food down and extremely dizzy. On May 5, 2026 I fell hard in lobby. I use a walker to take my dogs out but that is all. I am recovering from hip surgery. Well I complained again and said they were killing slowly and I was told may 10 would be my last night here. My dogs have been quiet. The only reason I am being ask to leave is because they don't want to upset spectrum. Well I have spent well over $7,000 since I have been here is all. To Econo lodge Newport the one is not important as the company. I will see an attorney. Oh Mary is great there and cleaning crew.

Price includes free continental breakfast, but don't put much stock in that because it wasn't very good. The self-make waffles were okay, as were the pre-packaged Jimmy Dean sausage, egg and cheese sandwiches (just microwave a minute), but their drink machine only had water from the OJ and apple juice dispensers, and the water option tasted terrible. So only real options were cranberry juice or coffee. The fresh fruit looked sad and the pre-packaged cakes were not good. Our first night was terrible due to a bed as hard as concrete; we got very little sleep and woke with aches and pains. This was one of their renovated/updated rooms with tile floors and refreshed bathroom. However, the floors had a sticky residue (I assume from whatever they used to clean them) so you wouldn't want to walk barefoot on it. Also, the tub was incredibly slick, to the point of being dangerous (lawsuit waiting to happen). We went to front desk the next morning and a very nice older gentleman let us check out another room, where the bed was much softer. This room was older and hadn't been updated, clearly from the non-working TV, cracked sink and bathroom tiles, broken bathroom light, and old looking green carpet. But at least the bed was better! You can expect a mini fridge, microwave, TV, wall-unit HVAC, bed, couch and desk in your room. No alarm clocks or clocks on the microwave, so have to check your phone for the time. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself is lacking. Good thing it's one of the cheaper options in the area. But even at $70 per night, they should do better.
