The hotel was clearly a very nice place at one time, but it's upkeep has been neglected (stained carpets in common areas, faded carpet in my room, worn out blanket on bed). That said, I did like that the bed and the office space were in separate room. The bathroom and wash sink were also in different rooms, and while that wouldn't normally be a problem, only one bar of soap was provided, so it had to be carried back and forth from the room with the wash sink to the room with the shower. Also, while Conditioner and Lotion were provided, Shampoo was not. All of the above would normally be forgiven except that I received news during the 2nd afternoon of my planned 3-night stay that a sister - 12 hours away in another city - had chosen to be taken off of life support, so - even though it was a full 30 hours before the start of my 3rd day, when I asked if I could get a partial refund on the final day if I left that night, I was told "No. The hotel has a strict policy about this." read more

The mezzanine is nice. Having a cook for breakfast is by far a surprise and Michael is a nice guy. This place makes having breakfast worth doing at the hotel. Finally, it is a great value for the money. Now to the downsides. The hotel could use an upgrade and there are parts of it that show age. The sink in my room wasn't clean when we arrived. It was like someone cut their hair there and a sloppy cleaning job was done. The beds need replaced as they're worn out. It is not fun having a bathroom sink with a huge bright light that is turned on 8 feet away in the area where the beds are. Makes things difficult. The HVAC compressor. What can I say about that? It reminds you all night that it works, so bring earplugs along with shades for your eyes. I got more sleep outside of the hotel than in the room. Even with these detractors, the positives do make it beneficial, but the worse is yet to come. We were charged with a $75 holding fee because of past damage done to rooms. I recommend taking pictures of the room when you enter and leave. I see people have had issues with getting this money back. Had we read these reviews before we stayed, I think we would have gone elsewhere. The breakfast is worth it which is why it gets 3 stars as I am still on the verge of giving 2 as well as price. The staff we encountered were friendly. In the future, if I stay in the area I will still look elsewhere to see if I can find a better place mainly because of the $75. read more

This is a great hotel ,I really enjoyed my stay here . It's convenient it's close to stores restaurants,and the expressway. In the evening they have a social hour in which each guest gets two free drinks , or beers . They offer a pretty nice breakfast in the morning til 9:30 am , and 10 am on the weekends. The room had a real nice couch in it and beds were super comfortable. Front desk is super friendly,and helpful. read more

I wish I could give this hotel zero stars!! This hotel has gone down hill since our stay last year. According to other reviews this hotel had a change of management and it is not good. We booked a two day stay on Oct 26, 2024. We spent most of our time in the living room area watching TV. When we got ready to go to bed we noticed 4 bugs crawling on the ceiling of the bedroom. I took pictures and my husband immediately went down to the front desk to complain. The attendant offered us another room but when my husband went to check it out it had bugs too. At this point we were done and checked out of the hotel at 1:00 am. The manager offered us a refund for the 2nd night but refused to refund for the first night claiming they couldn't find any bugs. My guess is after we left maybe the bugs went to look for a nice warm body! DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!!! read more

While the building was very clean and some of the staff were very nice, Great breakfast! I had real problems with the night clerk and the female manager. The GFI in my room kept tripping (7 times in a 2 night stay, shutting the power off to the room and bathroom. When I called the desk the first time it happened, the night clerk said"what do you want me to do about it?" He also failed to give me my wake-up call either morning. I am handicapped, and booked a handicapped room. The bathroom was a plain walk in shower, and the sliding door would not stay closed. So I had to try to balance myself and shower while holding the door closed. VERY UNSAFE as there were no grab bars, no seat, and the shower head was not adjustable!!!! When I complained to the day manager about all of the above, she told me that it was an old building, and that the shower met all ADA standards. My wife and I travel through Lansing both on the way out and back at least once a year. We found this hotel several years ago and appreciated the larger suites and being pet friendly. We also appreciated the freshly made breakfast and the staff at the cafe well always very nice. Those were the pluses and helped us overlook the negatives, which seem to increase with each visit. The quick take is that this is an older hotel that has gotten worn and dirty, to the point that it needs quite an overhaul. The furniture, beds, pillows, etc. are all older, not really clean or outright dirty. The bathrooms may not be the cleanest. The HVAC compressor in the rooms we've stayed in are so old they make a LOT of noise and go off with a loud thud when coming on. These are the things we lived with to enjoy a larger space that allowed pets. But on our latest stay we went through the night and into the morning before we realized the room had no hot water and the staff were less than apologetic or cooperative. I've had worse mornings than starting off with a cold sponge bath from the sink in the bedroom but the cavalier attitude of the staff was the final straw. This hotel was nice once but problems seem to continue to mount and there are other options for pets that are nicer nearby. read more

I stayed at this hotel on Thursday. I paid, parked, slept and got a shuttle to the airport. When i was dropped off on Thursday i was told by the drive that i could just call Sunday when i arrived back to set up a shuttle to the hotel. Today is Sunday and i called 6 hours in advance to schedule one. The man on the phone said they don't do that and my money i spent on the room didn't cover the listed amenity of a airport shuttle. I've never in my life heard of such a thing and now during my 4 hour layover i have to scramble to find a ride and pay for it!!!! Upon walking into our room, room 404, we immediately noticed the couch was stained, so no one wanted to sit down. Checked the beds and noticed large stains on the sheets. At this point we were so grossed out we called the front desk for another room. Second room had even bigger stains on the sheets. At this point, it was 1AM and we were so tired we just said, "Forget it. All of the rooms here must be like this." So, we pushed the stained parts away from us and tried to get some sleep. When I woke up the next day, I walked to the window in my socks and felt my feet starting to get wet. I looked down and noticed the entire floor was soaking wet. They gave us a basement room, room 109, and the floor of our hotel room is next to a hill, so ground water from outdoors was penetrating through the wall and into the flooring/carpet. So my socks were soaking wet. They did move us to another room, wasn't much better. It would be a one star experience if not for one employee. TOM, the chef. Whatever they're paying him, they should double it. His exuberant, fun personality makes the breakfast area warm and homey. His breakfast is good too. Eggs, bacon, potatoes, grits, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, juice and more. Tom gets 5-stars. read more

My husband, son, and I went to a wedding in the Lansing area and at first I wasn't thrilled with the idea that this hotel is more than 5 minutes from the wedding venue given Lansing is such a big town, but my family all agreed this was an awesome choice and have no regrets. I can't believe how inexpensive it was for all that we got - a roomy suite that was cleaned long before we had arrived, a microwave, fridge, a full size sofa sleeper and a door that's actually thick enough to block off the lights and sounds from the living room to the bedroom even though it's right next door, and a free hot breakfast. I wasn't looking for gourmet, but to have freshly made breakfast foods (scrambled eggs, breakfast casserole, hash browns, bacon, sausage, grits, biscuits and gray) is nice. Great place to stay! Tom is a great cook and his hot breakfast is worth every penny of the $3.99 charge. Don't even think twice, just get it. Happy hour is a great way to end your day and tends to get most all of the guests out of their rooms and having a good time. The wifi is a little weak....it worked well in the living room area of my room but struggled out on the balcony. The rooms were quiet with very comfortable bedding. BW's is about half a block away. I hate to give away Lansing's best kept secret, but this is it. Rooms - Rooms are nice (see prior review). Beds are comfy. The staff is nice. Few new updates - they took away the drink tickets and now you can just get really as many drinks as you want. Most people only seem to get 1 or 2 anyway so the tickets were strange. Tip the bartender, he's been there awhile and is super nice. They changed the breakfast so everyone can get hot stuff (eggs, bacon, hash browns). The food is free and filling - who cares if it is gourmet (which it is not...think Dennys). Finally, they are throwing some cash into the interior. The strange gazebo never bothered me, nor did the strange potted fake trees. But they are gone now. Hopefully they keep the price the same because I love it here. read more

They have complimentary soda, coffee, hot chocolate and cappuccino available 24 hours Orange juice and apple juice is available in the morning via a separate self-serve machine next to soda and coffee/cappuccino/hot chocolate machines. Breakfast was very good, I was not expecting such a good complimentary breakfast. You can also get seconds. Bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, Belgian waffles, toasts, bagels, cereal and more. Breakfast can also be made-to-order for a small charge. A last minute decision to watch the State game brought us into Lansing looking for a reasonably priced place to crash, which didn't seem to exist until we found the Quality Suites. Now, my expectations weren't the highest, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. Our room was nice and clean with lots of space. The common areas were nice (nothing spectacular) but overall more than acceptable. The free drinks and breakfast were quite good. Now I was expecting knock off eggo waffles and frozen fake omelettes, Nope! We had fresh made hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and homemade biscuits and gravy. While no doubt the food wasn't five star, it was a great start to the day and easily saved me $30-$40 for the family to eat breakfast! The service was friendly and we even had a staff member grab an elevator for us as they saw us coming by. My only complaint was that it's time to do a little bed replacing, but it wasn't that bad. Overall the hotel was pretty darn good, and then if you take into account the price it was freakin' awesome. The location was nice, right off the highway and we'll definitely be back! read more

When we got to the hotel they had a social hour from 6 to 7 where my husband and I got 2 free drinks each! To top it off they carry Michigan craft beer in their hotel store!! What a score! We booked through Hotels.com and thought we had reserved a whirlpool tub suite, based on the photos from this Quality Suites location site and Hotels.com. Unfortunately, we called to confirm less than 24 hours before our reservation check in and found out they had only one suite with a whirlpool tub and it was closed for the year because of the pandemic (makes no sense). We attempted to cancel with a refund. Although the concierge at Quality Suites admitted they use photos through a third party that doesn't reflect the actual look of the available room, he refused us a refund. Hotels.com, who saw the photos said Quality had a strict no-cancellation policy after 24 hours of check in time, and they tried to keep us from getting charged but Quality Suites wouldn't budge. Shame on you Quality Suites for this misleading information. We're now out over $100. My advice is to call and confirm with the hotel directly or you may not get what you think you're paying for. We will NEVER give them our business again. read more

Stayed here while we were in town to attend a wedding. VERY NICE HOTEL. Check in with Dori was a snap. Very friendly and helpful. This is what is called a atrium style hotel. Essentially that means that the main floor is open all the way to the ceiling and the rooms on all the floors open up facing the atrium. Lots of light and very nicely decorated. Our room on third floor was very clean. Rooms are suites so you get a sitting area and separate bedroom. Sitting area had a nice couch, desk, microwave, fridge, sink, TV and coffee maker. Bedroom had a king bed, smallish closet, TV, plenty of drawer space, huge counter and a sink. Small bathroom with shower. Would prefer sink in bathroom. Continental breakfast next morning was GRREAT. Lots of food. Cereal, eggs, bacon, taters, fruit, waffles, pancakes you name it. Tom, the man under the chefs hat, was a hoot. Very friendly. Can talk your ear off. Always remembers a face. He will cook you what you want. Possibly the best continental breakfast I have ever seen available. All in all a great stay. Definitely worth a stay. read more

When visiting our Son at Michigan State we always stay here. It's not the closest hotel by any means, however for the price we decided to stay there our first visit. It has the National Quality suites award winner two or three years running. Really clean and nice inside. In the morning Tom cooks you breakfast. All fresh ingredients Not the phony eggs you get at say Hampton Inns. In the evening you can go to cocktail hour and get two free drinks along with hot apps. I decided on Quality Suites because they had suites for the price of a room. The pictures on their website are very accurate. They have this social thing & each guest gets 2 drinks FREE! They even have free bfast in the morning: they have both hot & cold selections. The cold selection is like any other place except it's very organized & fresh. The hot is great too. They have a great variety and the staff is friendly and fun. You can tell they really enjoy working together. AMAZING. And I've been here for about 15 minutes. They got me into a room asap, there's so many amenities in my room-more than any other hotel I've been to in the area. They have coffee/drink area open 24/7 (included with your stay), social hour from 5-7 every night where you get 2 free drinks and appetizers. Bfast is from 7-10-perfect for those who don't want to be up early(again, included with your stay). Very easy to get to. The rooms are clean and comfortable with microwave, refrigerator, seating area separate from sleeping area. Beds are comfortable. Hot breakfast is now included in the price of the room. The hotel is generally quiet. Staff are friendly, especially the breakfast staff. During this weekend's stay, I was directed to a room near the elevator. When I asked to switch, it was taken care of pleasantly and quickly. I always stay at Quality Inn Suites when I go to Lansing, MI. read more
