The whole process of booking the room was weird because it took about 4 hours to get an email confirmation and it looked like a private email written from a young girl to her friend with a "here's your confirmation number" sentence. In the meantime we tried to call and they didn't answer the phone for 3 or 4 hours. When we checked out the pool and fitness area we noticed kids in bare feet and wet bathing suits on the treadmill. We mentioned it to the front desk and when we came back later there were other kids on the treadmill and other equipment in wet bathing suits so obviously nothing was done! Now talk about room cleanliness and it was obvious that the room was not vacuumed and the bathroom floor was not mopped - if you will look at my photos. I also wondered if the bathroom was cleaned at all! Pretty disgusting if you ask me - especially during these Covid days!! TV remote in a plastic bag - does that really mean anything? This location is what you'd expect from a Hampton & that's a good thing! I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the pool/whirlpool area was as well as the hot breakfast. I was expecting just continental or something pretty sub-par per usual hotel standard but this one was really good. This Hampton seems pretty new so no complaints on cleanliness. We had a lovely stay here. The room was average, a little small, but comfortable. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows are small. The front desk staff was so nice and helpful! We had a group of high school Kids with us and the woman at the front desk helped us organize a small pizza party for them. The hotel is well situated with things to do nearby. Continental breakfast was as expected. Check out was quick and easy. read more

Diane the front desk person was incredibly rude! The room wasn't cleaned properly. There's no way it should have passed inspection to be assigned to the next person. Lee the breakfast person was wonderful! However there were multiple horrible interactions with Diane. I hope management is made aware of her behavior because she should not have a job there anymore! read more

Niki and Patrick and the staff are simply amazing. Our trip to Lansing was going sideways and they found a way to work through the issues and took care of us better than we have ever experienced anywhere. We are a travel hockey family and have stayed in hundreds of hotels and have never experienced such excellent customer service like this. They literally made us feel special and turned a terrible situation into the best hotel experience we have had. We will be back here for sure again!!! read more

Good stay. Here on business, late check in, and the person at the desk was very friendly and accommodating. Bed was very comfortable with quiet to let me sleep after long night of driving. Definitely one of the nicer Hamptons we have stayed in, and this has been our hotel chain of choice for many years. One huge point in their favor is the proximity to Horrocks! Our family of five requires a roll-away bed and they had one in our room on arrival, but when we had called to make sure of that they were not very reassuring about it and did not offer to check, stating that they were pretty full and we may or may not get one. I would appreciate just a bit better service given that we don't really want to have to deal with that problem at midnight on arrival. That is truly my only complaint about the entire weekend. Staff were very friendly, the pool is awesome and clean, the workout room (two treadmills, an elliptical, a bike, and free weights) was clean and functioning, the breakfast was as per usual at Hamptons, and our room was clean and well-appointed (king suite, had a microwave and fridge). Won't hesitate to stay here again. read more

This incident happened the first week of December. I have tried contacting both the manager and assistant manager (Dave Eddy and Nikki) but have been unsuccessful at receiving a response. Here is my experience: I am pasting part of my email to Dave in hopes this doesn't happen again: My boyfriend was trying to book a stay at your hotel last night using my credit card. As I would expect, the cost was expensive (booked from 12/4-12-11) and he was using my credit card. Instead of politely explaining to my boyfriend what needed to happen to book his stay at the hotel, Janice assumed that my boyfriend (who is fully clothed in his warehouse attire, because he came straight from work to the Hampton Inn) stole my credit card and was acting extremely hesitant to allow him to book the room. She finally, after trying to avoid booking the hotel for 15 minutes, explained to him that he could obtain a copy of my driver's license, along with filing out a form giving my consent for him to use the credit card. He brought the paperwork needed, and I filled it out. I was unable to make a paper copy of my driver's license at home, so I called Janice myself. When I called her, she was extremely annoyed, told me to hold multiple times and that her other customers were more important to take care of and that I was lucky she did not hang up on me. When she finally came back to the phone to talk with me, I asked her if I was able to give my boyfriend my driver's license (given the fact that I was unable to make my own copy) and if I needed to do anything else besides provide a copy of my driver's license and fill out the form she had given to my boyfriend. Her response was, "I mean I can't tell you what else I need at this time, I find it very strange that this young man wants to book with us, and honestly I'm going to call my boss and see if we should even allow him to stay here." I asked her if there was anything else, I could do, if I could speak with her manager myself, and her response was, "Well I'm not going to give out his personal information just for you to talk to him when I don't even know who you are." I knew the conversation was not going to go anywhere productive so I told her ok, I will have my boyfriend bring the documents you gave to him along with my driver's license. Once he returned, before he could even hand her the documents, she denied working with him any further. I called the hotel again and asked if it were best for me to come up there and pay for the stay myself, and she told me, "I don't care what you do", and hung up on me. read more

I've been at Diamond Status with Hilton Honors for approximately 5 years. I used points to book two rooms with this hotel, but needed to cancel due to the flu bug hitting my family. Called to cancel my rooms, and was fine if they chose to not reimburse my points. Instead they wanted to reimburse my points, but then charge me full price for both rooms. This decision was made by the local franchisee of this property, not by Hilton Corporate. This is poor customer service. Think twice before staying at this Hampton Inn. Zero compassion. read more

Hampton Inn is our favorite place to stay. The building is really nice but a little far away from MSU campus but we got great service in May when we stayed here. This time we stayed for 4 nights and the room was only cleaned once and that was after we complained. They basically said it was our fault since we didn't leave the room until noon. We have 2 adults and 2 kids in the room so trash and towels build up fast. Went down to the front desk to complain and was told (Lisa and Noel) there was nothing they could do. Contacted Hilton by mobile app and they said they would contact hotel on our behalf and resolve the situation. Never heard anything besides an email apologizing for problem. Still haven't heard anything days later. Will definitely not stay here again. read more

Who hasn't been to the Hampton inn. My favorite part about this hotel was the salt water pool. My first time ever in a salt water pool. I loved it. The staff was friendly and courteous. The hotel was always clean and smelled great. And the WiFi there was outstanding. I checked out of this room this morning and headed to Flint to check into another Hampton Inn for another event I have in that area. Will definitely miss the salt water pool. read more

I booked a room at Hampton Inn for two nights thru hotels.com. I checked in and stayed in the hotel for the first night. The next day when I came back to my room at the hotel my key card did not work. When I went to the front desk they told me the key card did not work because I was checked out by the hotel without my knowledge. The reason they said I was checked out was because I was only booked for one day. They then offered to book me for a second night, but at a higher rate. I showed the person at the front desk my confirmation that I had booked the room for two nights (and in fact had already paid for two nights through hotel.com). They said that was my problem, not the hotel's problem and that if I wanted the room I would have to pay the higher rate. I told the front desk clerk that this was crazy and asked to talk to a manager. She called a manager and he also said I would need to pay the higher rate. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in any industry. I went to a hotel down the street (Comfort Inn) and had a great experience at that new hotel. If you choose to stay at the Hampton Inn, do so at your own risk. You have been warned. read more

We will never stay here again. I know it's hard to accommodate a boys hockey team however we were forced to pick one of 3 hotels and we picked this one. Front desk was awful and not accommodating. We basically begged to rent (and pay for) an open room for the hockey kids to run around in and eat dinner and they would not even rent us the room even though it was empty and no one was in it. We asked several times and were told the manager would not allow it. Every year prior, in different brand hotels we have gotten the banquet room for a small price if not rented out. It appeared the lady at the front desk was annoyed because a friend wanted to have the lobby for a birthday party and was extremely rude and loud when announcing our team was running their plans. I was standing at the front desk and heard her talking as she called our kids names. She then at 10 pm told us we have to vacate the lobby area when she was leaving. We have a lot of options when staying in Lansing and this will not ever be our choice nor do we recommend it. No restaurant, no bar, horrible customer service no reason to stay here. Worse Hilton hotel I have stayed at. Our sister team stayed at the holiday Inn by the summit and had great customer service and great reviews and there customer service blew ours out of the water. We will try there next time. Hopefully this review as well as ones on Facebook and yelp will allow them to get better customer service and be more accommodating or simply not be put on the Clover Cup Hockey sign up. This is a review for the Hampton Inn at 900 N Canal Rd. The hotel itself is nice, its a newer building with modern furnishings. The downside, is the housekeeping. Housekeeping failed to replenish our Coffee supplies, and Kleenex. I had to go down to the front desk, and ask for those items to be sent to our room.. The housekeeper failed to clean our room also. Their was a layer of dust, on the desk, along with our coffee cups still sitting on the desk, I sent a email to the general manger, over a week ago, and he never replied, which just sums up this hotel and its staff perfectly. In a nutshell. They don't care.. they just want your money. I wont be back. read more

I travel a lot on business and usually stay at marginally "fancier" hotels, but this Hampton Inn was nice and very comparable with the hotels I usually stay at. I've stayed at several Hampton Inns in different parts of the country and this is probably the nicest one I've found yet. It helps that this facility is obviously pretty new. The breakfast area was pretty good and had plenty of options. I can usually find something to complain about with every hotel, but it's hard to do so for this one. Plain and simple. The shower didn't work. After two days in the car and a very tight schedule, I woke up and tried to shower and the damn thing didn't work. Of course the hotel would switch you rooms if available. BUT I DONT HAVE TIME. I would have been better off saving my money and sleeping in the damn car and showering at a dirty truck stop. I made the hotel aware and the response was "I'll be sure to let the manager know" Well, I hardly believe that is enough. I paid for a room to sleep and a place to shower. Only ONE of those expectations were fulfilled and yet NO mention of compensation for my troubles. As a matter of fact, I think being part of the "rewards" program has gotten me absolutely NOTHING in the past 8 years or so I was a member. And I probably get around 10 rooms a year. Nothing major, but absolutely nothing in return. AND LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR.... this isn't the first time there was an issue with the room, and the result is exactly the same. " I'll let the manager know" Well let the manager know I will be staying somewhere else from now on. Oh, and by the way... when I was using the room phone to complain, the stupid thing was so crackly, we could hardly hear ourselves speak. The TV remote didn't work properly. Nor did it last week when I stayed at another location. Do I need to pay Hampton rates for this crap? read more

I love Hampton Inn's, as they were always reliably good every time when I traveled for business. So, I've stayed at a lot. This one was my favorite so far. Although the customer service at the other Hampton Inn in Lansing was top notch( they directed us to this one since they were sold out). We got an executive suite, and it was a great price. Super clean and brand new hotel. Everything you want in a hotel-clean, everything working, good customer service, comfy bed, and great breakfast. This location also has a pool and Jacuzzi(Lansing east does not) if that's your thing. Nothing better than a Hampton, unless its a new Hampton! read more

We made a reservation at the Hampton Inn and suites in Lansing Michigan because of a graduation at Michigan State University. This hotel is located about 10 minutes from the main campus. We arrived early but they were able to accommodate us in a room after a 30 minute wait. It looks like the hotel recently went through some renovations. The carpet looks blue in the hallway, new paint and wallpaper, the front desk area and lounge area very well kept. The usual Hampton and breakfast was served with waffles, eggs sausage cereal toast and juice and a lot of other items. Our one came with a mini fridge and a microwave. Purple and desert tan are the main color scheme in a room. The linens on the bed are very nice and the mattress itself is a luxury firm until mattress. The rooms seem to be well insulated from noise, nothing woke me up in the middle of the night and I am a light sleeper. The hotel offers a small office area with a computer and printer, a small fitness room, and a saltwater indoor pool. We booked our room several months ago so the room rate was fine, but it is graduation weekend and the room rates skyrocketed for other guest. I'm assuming the regular room rate most of the year is normal. If I ever find myself in Lansing Michigan again I would stay at this location. read more
