Hotel is clean and just really beautiful. The little market downstairs is well maintained and full stocked (even during an FFA convention where the hotel was packed with high school kids). Staff was helpful and friendly. Check in was easy and checkout pleas all digital through the IHG app and so easy. Our overnight stay included breakfast and drinks for 2 or the buffet at the restaurant downstairs. We opted to eat in our room and start our adventure for the day. The room was great! Bed was comfortable, bedding was crisp and clean, furniture was comfortable. You do have to slightly do some contortion maneuvers to reach the toilet paper but that's literally the only oddball thing with this hotel. read more

There wasn't breakfast the day I came, thin walls in which I heard things I cannot explain. It's in a good area, DQ, McDonald's is very close (across the street) one of the biggest malls in Michigan is nearby. Problem was, I didn't get the room I ordered, I tried to get a refund or a one night free stay, but the front desk person didn't do anything! read more

Our stay at Crown Plaza hotel was very pleasant. We had traveled all day and chose to have dinner in the hotel restaurant. The food was delicious! Our waiter Lauren was very pleasant and professional. She asked if we were traveling for a special occasion and we said it was our 30th anniversary celebration vacation. The head chef Stephanie came out and visited with us and presented us with a complimentary beautiful dessert berry cheese cake (yummy) to celebrate our anniversary! Came to the Crowne Plaza for a work trip - work covered the booking and payment of my stay, so I can't speak on that. Check-in was easy and there is a ton of parking surrounding the hotel. The hotel has an older feeling such as the outside structure but the inside is pretty nice and appears to be updated. The inside is very modern, bright, and clean. The room was comfortable and had nice amenities. Amenities: Wireless charging station that is also an alarm clock. Keurig (with 4 kcups), fridge, and microwave. Reading light next to the bed. Vanity mirror with built-in light. Nice brand of shampoo/soaps/etc. Good water pressure in the shower. We had turndown service even though we left the "no disturb" sign on the door. So we were a little surprised to see our beds made and towels re-freshed. The hotel also offered a bar/restaurant - no complimentary breakfast. In addition to a pool and fitness room. The bathroom floor had something on the floor - looked like chocolate or something - so that made me a little grossed out. But everything else appeared to be clean. I also found it strange that there was no fan in the bathroom, so the bathroom got all steamed up. The decor was fine but felt a little warned out. Wallpaper starting to peel, finishing around the bathroom mirror was chipping, and some rust around the bathroom light fixtures. The bed was amazing! So comfortable and I had no issues falling asleep. Felt like I just sank into the bed in a good way. 4 pillows were provided - two being firm and two being soft. Not much is around this hotel - there is a McDonald's/gas station combo, Biggby Coffee, and a Cops and Donuts. It is very close to the highway and easy to get on and off. read more

I used to enjoy staying here. But I will choose another location next time. Went here for business. I was exhausted from working / driving all day and just wanted to relax so I never brought this to management didn't feel like dealing with it and since there was a second bed that was clean... They put me in a room with two beds thankfully because the first bed was unclean. Hotel underwent major renovations but it was to the lobby and ballroom / conference areas NOT the outdated rooms or unclean linens. If your a light sleeper, be aware you can hear EVERYTHING! read more

I like the Crowne Plaza. The rooms may not be the nicest available in town, they're perhaps a little dated, but the rest of the hotel is pretty nice. They just renovated the lobby/meeting room areas and did a pretty good job with it, though it feels a bit sterile for my tastes, I kinda prefer the way it felt before. I've always found the pool, hot tub, and workout areas to be kept quite clean. The food is pretty decent, and I've never had any issues with arranging checkout times or getting a shuttle ride. But to me, where the Crowne really shines is in its staff. I've been staying at the Crowne on a regular basis for over a year now and the staff has always been super friendly and super helpful. They even come around each night and offer cookies and milk (complimentary from the hotel). My waist-line can tell you that I've eaten far too many of the complimentary cookies and spent far too little time at the gym. read more

I was here because I had a training. The place was amazing!! As soon as I walked in I was greeted, the room was very clean as well as the rest of the place. The food that was served was very tasty!! I cannot thank you enough for placing me on the quiet floor (floor 5). I was traveling for business and needed to work and then sleep. Very clean and comfy bed. The IHG upgrade to a King was much appreciated and I enjoyed a MI cherry mule, Cesar salad and Italian sausage flat bread in the bar for dinner. Everyone I encountered was so pleasant, from the front desk staff to servers in the bar, to housekeeping staff. My only complaints are low pressure in the bathroom shower and my in room blow dryer was shoved so far under the sink, I had to search underneath to find it. Also, just know the current parking lot repairs makes for a little longer walk with your luggage in tow. But bravo Crowne Plaza for making me feel like a queen! Classy hotel on the Westside of Lansing. The rooms are comfortable with a couch and flat panel tv. The bathrooms are not spacious, but useful. The only downside to the room was the "clicking" of the a/c unit each time it turns on. The hotel has a nice bar and restaurant. There is wi-fi and a small, but nice workout facility with a pool. The service was helpful, if not perfect. Overall, this is a classy, mid-ranged hotel in the state's capital which is easily accessible to most anything you would like to do in Lansing. I will stay here again the next time I find myself in this enjoyable city. read more

Prior to booking I was actually hoping to stay at another hotel in the heart of Downtown Lansing but that was booked for one of my nights. This was my second choice and it did not disappoint. I arrived much earlier than expected and had not problem checking in at 7:00 a.m. the morning of my arrival. The hotel is very well maintained, large, extremely clean, and the service was excellent. For workout people - it has a nice pool and the standard hotel fitness center. I wish more hotels would upgrade to free weights but dumbbells will do just fine for the weekend. If you are a runner, like me, you will love the energy bar/health station in the middle of the lobby with an easy to read map that shows various routes and their mileage markers. The running routes are through good neighborhoods but watch out for cars, Michiganders drive fast - and I'm from Jersey. If you're deciding between this hotel and the main downtown Lansing hotel, it becomes a matter of preference because they are both good choices. This hotel was an easy 5 minute ride to downtown using the highway (and just off the exit) and perfectly situated in a safe area near some decent shopping centers. For business/wedding people - though I wasn't there for business I did take a walk around and peak in some rooms and it is clear they could handle just abut anything. The quality of this hotel far exceeds the price and I highly recommend it. read more

I would have given 5 stars but the restaurant's food was merely ehh. I have stayed at this hotel/venue twice now. Last year was for two days and this year was for two weeks. The hotel itself is very conveniently located near I-496 and finding it is easy. The lobby area and possibly the rooms have been updated in the last year. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The maid service was not perfect but good overall. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had the pleasure of being in the banquet and reception rooms which were clean and nice. The staff is very attentive to making anyone using the rooms comfortable. Plenty of drinks and snacks available through-out the day depending on what your organizers pay for. The rooms were clean and nice. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of various pillows. Despite being very near the highway I never heard any road noise. There is a nice TV and mini fridge in the rooms. Also plenty of toiletries, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. A lot of nice amenities. There are two elevators which made things easy. The hotel has a restaurant/bar right off the lobby. The bartenders varied greatly in speed and friendliness. Some nights it seemed they were a bit over stretched and needed a second bartender or more wait staff. The drinks prices are on the high end as you might expect. If you get a chance to do the breakfast buffet, do it! Great amount of food and not a cheap hotel spread. Think anything you could want for breakfast including bacon, eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, oatmeal, etc. etc. Very worth it! The dinner/bar menu is where myself and many in my group found fault. All the food was ok, it was close convenient food. But nothing stood out as great for us. The first week we were there they had a happy hour with half off some of the menu items and some drinks. The last day of our second week they changed the bar menu and eliminated any of the half off items. Overall we just weren't impressed with the food either on the bar or dinner menu. I was a bit surprised because many of the items were on the higher end of food items. Duck breast, lamb, nice steaks, etc. But none of them were great. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel/banquet center. I think it serves a variety of people and situations. The staff was very helpful and quick to assist in any way they could. Comfortable beds and great pillows! I always have trouble sleeping so I picked this hotel because of the great reviews about the quality of the beds and I definitely was not disappointed! There is an indoor pool and Hot Tub that are open 24 hours which is really unique. They also have a small basketball court which was fun to play in since I haven't tried to shoot a basketball in ages! We were on the 3rd floor and it was quiet. One day our room did not get cleaned and when we called down to the front desk they immediately sent someone up to clean and give us any extra coffee, etc that we needed. The front desk followed up to make sure we were satisfied and offered us a free drink or dessert for our trouble. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Had dinner last night at Bordeaux the on site restaurant. Food was mediocre, no wine list because it was out at the printers??? Odd for a place named Bordeaux. Food to forever to come out even though they weren't really busy at all. I asked for no potatoes and extra vegetables but was given a bunch of potatoes and teaspoon of vegetables. I've never received a salad and then asked if I'd like fresh ground pepper as the waiter picks up the pepper grinder from the table. Seemed like an odd thing. I have made several trips to this Crowne Plaza this year. The staff at this hotel is second to none. The rooms are comfortable and the meeting rooms are good too. I want to give a special call out to two team members who went above and beyond the call of duty to make my stays feel as close to being with family as I can get while traveling every other week on business. Olli and Jessica were always friendly to me and had a smile and conversation each time I went past them. It is rare to find service like this in a hotel. I don't usually write reviews. I planned my trip to Michigan very poorly and did not rent a vehicle. When my plane landed, I contacted the hotel to arrange transportation. I was terrified of the thought of having to take a taxi. The person that answered the phone was so friendly, and the bus arrived at the airport within minutes. When I arrived at the hotel, it felt like home and the people like family. I have never traveled to Michigan, so I'm not familiar with the area. The staff, specially Todd, went out of his way to assist me. He recommended several places in the area. He also drove me to the best Mexican restaurant in town, and picked me up after I finished my meal. The room was very spacious, and the TV was big. I especially loved the bed and the soft pillows. The fitness center/gym was very clean, and had lots of equipment available for use. On the second day of my stay, I had a breakfast meeting at the Bordeaux restaurant. The food was delicious, and the staff was very attentive. The food was a bit pricey, but the staff was outstanding. For dinner, I requested to be taken to Carrabas. I was driven there, and driven back to the hotel. After I finished dinner, I decided to make a trip to the jacuzzi. The heated pool was a little dirty, but the jacuzzi was perfect! I decided to have a drink at the bar afterwards. The bartender did not know how to make my drink, but tried and it was excellent! I also had a piece of the German Chocolate Mousse Cake. The best I've ever tasted! On the last day of my trip, several work meetings were cancelled and unfortunately I wasn't flying out of Lansing until 6 PM. I had several hours to kill. The staff served me breakfast, and attended to all of my needs for the 6 hours I was there. My final request was to be dropped off at Lansing mall to do some shopping. A gentleman dropped me off, and I was picked up and taken to the Lansing airport. I didn't notice, but I had left my cell phone in the Crowne Plaza bus. The lady that dropped me off came running up to the FSA area with my phone. I would've probably got on the plane, and not noticed. I felt like a celebrity during my stay at The Crowne Plaza. The staff spoiled me so much. I wasn't ready to leave! I wanted to stay longer. I can't express enough how grateful I am for the experience and the service that Crowne Plaza provided to me. If I come to Michigan again, I plan to stay here again and highly recommend this place to everyone. Thank you Crowne Plaza team. I will never forget this experience! read more

I attended a conference at the Lexington in Lansing and stayed Oct. 20 and 21, 2010.. Had never been here before. The reception area is exceptional and it appears that they have put a lot of effort into it with plenty of room. The rooms were average to above average. The good things about the room were that it has a HD TV with a good selection of channels, there is a mini-fridge, iron and ironing board and a sink outside of the bathroom. The beds were comfortable no problem sleeping. The average about the room was that there is very little closet space, there are only three drawers to put your things (there were two of us so it was tight) and like most hotel rooms no overhead lights. There is wireless internet included but both of us had trouble getting connected and every time you turn your computer off you have to go through the connection process again. Once it was working it was okay. The not so good are the bathroom, which is good except that there is no exhaust fan or any place in the shower/tub to put your soap or shampoo. The heating/cooling system has a very loud fan which seemed to be running all day. Service: When checking into the room I found one light bulb was burned out. I changed some bulbs around and called the front desk the next morning. They had it replaced while I attended a one hour session. I had very little contact with the other staff, in fact since we were only there for two nights we did not have the cleaning staff come into the room. Did this on purpose, we had plenty of towels etc. and had laptops in the room. The conference had meals at the Lexington and I must say they were above average for what you would expect at such events. The staff running the facility for the conference did a good job of getting the rooms arranged and the keeping the equipment running. The first night was before the conference started do we did eat at the restaurant. The food was very good and more than enough for a reasonable price. If there was ever another conference here I wouldn't mind going. I did not venture into Lansing instead visiting a relative 60 miles to the east one evening so I cannot say if the hotel is close to anything of interest. I did see that they have a pool and health club but did not use either. One thing that did bug me, I was staying on the second floor and the stairs are not near the elevators or main lobby; with there only being two elevators I would have used the stairs rather than wait. read more

What a complete disappointment this hotel was! Our family of four was placed adjacent from the "Durant Room" (room 105) which we were told was a meeting place that would clear out around 8:00 p.m. We could clearly see it was filled with a loud reception of some sort. Upon discovering this, we immediately asked to be moved to a new room. The concierge was not only rude, but acted as if we were wasting his time by suggesting it was a problem for us to be placed across from a loud party. I've never been to a hotel with such poor customer service. read more

This is our back-up hotel when all the other hotels by MSU are booked. It's graduation weekend so our usual hotels were $250+/night. We've stayed at the Crowne Plaza 3 times over the past few years and have been very happy. The beds are extremely comfortable and the room was very clean. Nice big HD TV for the hubby, and a "spa-like" mini care package for me (aromatherapy cream, calming mist and soothing balm). What a nice touch! Last weekend my husband and I stayed here for a wedding. Unfortunately due to weather related issues we had to head back to Chicago earlier then expected. We were disappointed because we had booked two nights at this hotel and were only going to be able to stay for one. When we were checking out, the hotel was nice enough to comp us the second night. I really appreciated the generosity and understanding. We had totally expected to have to pay for the night but didn't. The Crowne Plaza Lansing West made my wedding the most special night of my life! From the moment I began inquiring about the location, they were extremely accommodating. They were prompt to answer any of my questions and always got back to me in a timely manner. The night of my wedding, the staff were attentive and thorough. All my guests raved about the event decorations and the food was delicious. Several of my guests booked rooms the night of the wedding, and they were very pleased with the rooms and staff. We celebrated five family member's birthdays tonight at this incredible restaurant. Chefs Brad and Mike offered us a Chef's Table that truly knocked our socks off. Our server Mario made every course flow perfectly, chose a terrific wine for us and everyone had a great time. I highly recommend Bordeaux for any occasion. My office mate Steffany and I had the opportunity to attend an Autism conference in Lansing, unfortunately our room was not ready, however the staff gave us two free drink vouchers which we were forced to take. Starving from sitting down all day we ordered an appetizer and partook in some cocktails while we waited for our room. We had wonderful service, checked into our room an hour later and then wandered back down for happy hour and dinner and office-mates sis in law to join us. Bordeaux offered a drink special -last nights was a berry margarita....went quite well with the beer cheese and pretzel basket (so hungry I forgot to take a picture..oopsies) The restaurant was quite busy due to two other conferences, this added some entertainment to our evening and a much later bedtime then planned. Service continued to be excellent, food was good, pretty flowers on tables and drink specials were yummy. read more

My wife and I stayed one night this weekend. We were greeted at the door and received excellent service during our stay. The room was newly redecorated and was very well done. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was fantastic. We used our half off card and ate lunch at Bordeaux (the former Christie's Bistro). This also was recently redecorated and we found it comfortable and relaxing. Our server, Ashley, provided excellent service and made our dining experience very pleasant. I attended a business conference in Ballrooms E and F. The rooms were worn. There is a great deal of work that needs to be done to bring them up to par. Ever since they switched over to the new crowne plaza name, it's gone down hill. The tablecloths were so wrinkled on the tables, It looked awful. The service is mediocre at best. I only have a complaint regarding the restaurant Bordeaux. I placed a carry out order for a salad, flatbread, pork tacos and a burger. I arrived 5 minutes before the time I was given and stood at the busy bar for quite a while - at least 10 minutes - then I started to wave my hands, then arms, then jumping up and down to get the bartender's attention. She was obviously very busy, it was Saturday night. She looked like she was not happy to be there either. After 5 more minutes I called the restaurant's number - I thought maybe it would go to the kitchen, but after ringing numerous times - she (the bartender) answered and I told her I was there to pick up my order - told her I was the person jumping and waving at the end of the bar. She told me that she would get it after she was done making some drinks.....so I waited some more. Finally she left the bar to go and get my order. Anyway - long story short.....salad does not hold up very good under heat lights, the flatbread had congealed to the bottom of the box - to the point where you couldn't lift it out :( The burger was way over medium and of course the lettuce and tomato were ruined :( Any way - I will never patronize Bordeaux again!!!!! read more
