This is my first root planning here. My hygienist was nice and was very heavy handed. Which when you have periodontal disease that's a good thing. I go back in 2 weeks for my left side. The bad news she broke my $375 gold lingual wire that is keeping my bottom teeth in place and Now I need to go to my orthodontist to get it fixed. Truly, not what I have time to do during the holidays but mistakes happen. Because I wasn't expecting this as a possibility Dr Huynh has contacted my orthodontist personally and made sure I don't have this unexpected expense. I'm waiting until after my next cleaning just in case she breaks the other side as Now I know this can happen!! As a business owner and a mom of 3 I'm more in tears because I really don't have the extra time this month to go to my orthodontist. Dr Huynh was very apologetic about this but it took a little while for him to get back to me as it was a busy office day. For my first experience it was a little off but he went well and above my expectations when encountering a mistake like this. I was recommended to use a mouth rinse, chlorhexidine. Never have I been to a place that needed to give me a prescription for it. I've always been to a place that has it in stock and Now I need to deal with a pharmacy but after explaining why they don't carry it it they actually saved me $$. Perhaps this just seemed overwhelming in the moment. I went to Kaiser and got my RX down the street for 10 bucks. Ultimately this is just off to a bad start but I can see it turning around for sure. My best advice to my hygienist - slow down near lingual wire permanent retainers but keep your heavy hands because I did feel like you did a good cleaning. I will be in pain later tho. As to be expected. Or at least give your patients a heads up that this can happen. Update**** Dr Huynh called me and we came up with a solution. You can tell he really cares about his patients and his staff. I will definitely not name anyone in this review who worked on me because making a mistake like this is just that. A mistake. I've been to many dentists in my 38 years and pride myself in having healthy teeth. But having healthy teeth does not always mean having healthy gums. So I went in to see Dr. Huynh for an assessment of my gums. His hygienists are probably the nicest and most thorough hygienists I've ever experienced. They take the time to explain any and all issues that I had with my gums, and ways to work on the issues. Not only that, they are always the best cleanings I've had in my life. My teeth and gums always feel AMAZING afterwards! After my cleaning, Dr. Huynh came in to talk to me about my gums and any issues that I had. He was very patient, kind and explained everything to me in a non-condescending manner. He worked on my teeth and gums in a very gentle manner with no pain. He is an expert on gums and you can totally tell by just talking with him. For such a busy office, I was extremely happy that the staff, from the receptionist, billing person, hygienist and doctor, were so pleasant and professional. This was further evident from the other patients in the waiting room who likewise had only good things to say about Dr. Huynh and his staff. Dr. Huynh seemed to know everyone by their first names and was not pretentious like other doctors can be. It's been quite a while since I first accompanied my husband to his consultation appointment with Dr. Huynh, but now that much of his treatment is complete and he is beyond satisfied with the outcome, it's time to give Dr Huynh and his staff huge props! Originally my husband was referred to Dr Huynh to discuss different surgical options to correct some of his periodontal issues. After a very thorough examination, Dr Huynh gave us clear and detailed descriptions of the treatment options. Initially my husband was not convinced that periodontal surgery would help him, but after Dr Huynh took the time to answer all of questions and listen to all of his concerns regarding treatment, my husband felt much better and had a clearer understanding that the treatment proposed to him would prove to be extremely beneficial to his oral health. After the exam, Jana provided us with all of the financial information we needed to know regarding the chosen treatment. She was very helpful and clearly explained the insurance estimates to us and she was also very patient with all of our insurance questions and how much money would need to paid out of pocket. She was friendly and understanding and made scheduling all of my husbands appointments very easy. :::::Fast forward many months::::: My husband has now completed surgery on multiple areas of his mouth and even received an implant! He regularly explains to me how much easier the recovery time of the surgery was than he expected and how easy the implant procedure was. He is extremely happy with the services he received by Dr Huynh and his friendly staff, and says that he would definitely recommend anyone to this office for periodontal work. In the future, we would not hesitate to see Dr Huynh again for treatment...and yes, our insure is OUT OF NETWORK, but we liked it there so much, it's more than worth it. read more

I've been coming to Dr. Huynh's office for more than a year now. I had a lot of periodontal issues and my dentist referred me to Dr Huynh. All staffs in his office are very knowledgeable. I always have detail information regarding what I need to pay and what covered by my insurance before every procedures. They also very helpful if I have any question regarding what to do after the surgery. I always come to Hayward location for my teeth cleaning by one of his hygienist, Goretti. I love how detail she is with each of my teeth. I'm so glad I found Dr. Huynh. I will continue coming to his office for my routine cleaning and checkup even though he is out of my insurance network. read more

I was referred to Dr. Huynh by my dentist. I was a little apprehensive at first (always am when I'm referred to a specialist), but after chatting with Jana (the front office personnel) I felt comfortable and was even looking forward to my visit. Dr. Huynh was thorough throughout my exam and made sure that any questions or concerns that I had were addressed. The office is very clean and the staff is very knowledgeable and personable. When my general dentist refers me to a specialist, my inital reaction is... UH OH! But that was the complete opposite of my experience! Before even coming to Dr. Huynh for my implant, I did what doctors tell you not to do, browse the internet. I started to read all these horror stories and came into his office with images and thoughts of how horrific this process was going to be. I literally asked 20 questions on the first visit. Dr. Huynh's fun personality already helps to calm the nerves, but he is also very thorough on what he is going to do, and what to expect after. There have been so many times when he's done and I showed a shocked face of "that's it?!", and out the door I go. I seriously did not feel any pain for any of my visits. He and his staff are very proactive in making sure I was numb, and it must be his gentle hands or something, but I was never swollen or needed pain killers for some of the invasive procedures. I've consistently seen Dr. Huynh for the last year for this process and today was my last visit. It was actually sad to say bye to everyone! They really treat you like family here, smiling when you walk in, and smiling when you walk out. And the last thing I want to mention is, they never made me wait! Appointments happened as scheduled, there was no double booking and sitting there waiting for the doctor to come back, he gives his full attention to one patient at a time. read more

They called our insurance and told us my husband's visit was covered. After receiving services, we got a bill in the mail for $123.00 with no explanation. It took my husband three weeks and three phone calls each time someone promising to call him back, to finally get ahold of someone who had the authority to do something about this. And all she said was "that's the way it is." it had to do with our insurance being out of network which I understood but I don't know how a business can do this to people and expect them to come back or not be so mad that they tell everyone about it (which I am obviously doing). We ran into a similar situation w/the dentist who referred us but she waived the whole bill and it was way more than 123.00 (see review for Dr. Michelle Do if curious). Doesn't make it any less annoying but it does say something about her desire to keep patients and a good reputation which I feel is lacking in Dr. Huynh's office. The best part was that the lady at Dr. Huynhs office then told my husband that she would take off twenty bucks but that they would waive more of the fee if he got major work done w/them. Dr. Huynh is pretty nice but I have to extoll the virtues of Jana! Jana is awesome! She always has a joke to share and held my hand during two rather traumatic dental surgeries, that seemed to last hours. Getting any type of dental work gives me anxiety. I was nervous since I was referred by my dentist. I'm so happy with Dr. Huynh. After going through 2 treatments (just saw him the other day) I will never go to anyone else. Dr. Huynh and his staff is very thorough, friendly, professional and pleasant. He is funny as well. He and his staff always checks to make sure you are okay. I never once felt uncomfortable or in any pain. I just read the last review and I have to admit that I had a complete opposite experience at Dr. Huynh's office. I came in for a consultation regarding some gum work and I was amazed at how knowledgeable the staff was regarding my insurance benefits. I had no idea what my insurance was going to cover or not cover. I was given an estimate for the gum work that was going to be done, Jana even took the time to explain how my insurance works with me. I paid my portion at the time of service and when I received my explanation of benefits from my insurance a few weeks later I was ecstatic to see that the estimate that I received from Dr. Huynh's office was 100% correct (something I'm not always used to in medical and dental offices)! Even the gum surgery itself was great, as great as a visit to the periodontist can be! Dr. Huynh was very gentle and has a great chairside manner. I was impressed by Dr. Huynh, his knowledgeable and friendly staff, Dr. Huynh's state of the art dental equipment and of course, the dental treatment I received. I was referred to Dr. Quang Huynh by my dentist Dr. Wayman Tang for periodontal work due to my gums receding. My upper gums were in pretty bad shape, you could actually see the roots. So far, Dr. Huynh has provided two separate procedures on the upper part of my gums (right and lefts sides.) I really like Dr. Huynh and his staff. Lets face it, the surgery is surgery! Not something anyone looks forward to. Dr. Huynh made me feel at ease immediately; he numbs the area completely, so I didn't feel a thing. Dr. Huynh and his assistant Kelly share some really fun stories the entire time to take the patients mind off of the experience. I actually love that because the time goes by so much faster! He never hurt me once and I felt that I was in excellent hands. The 1st procedure was done in July and it really turned out beautifully. The gums healed perfectly. I had the 2nd half done recently and I'm sure it will look great as well.
