Fun and challenging golf. Greens are on the bumpy side, but fairways are in great condition. Kudos to the maintenance team. Front 9 is fun. Back 9 is beautiful with an amazing views of the quarry. It is narrow and challenging, think target. There is a very intimidating par 3 that literally a torture, but in a good way. No ice or water stations. Bathroom: clean A must if you are passing by or visiting Tucson. read more

Pro shop was small but friendly. Cart attendants weren't so much. No driving range and the course was more dirt than grass, noisy (adjacent to the 10) not cheap ($85 for 9 holes)and not worth our day. There were some interesting quarry views but nothing here to bring us back. read more

Course seems to cut some cost of the green fee by not maintaining each blade of grass like Ventana Canyon or another ridiculously priced course. Course is tough, be ready for target golf! Wanted to get away from the crowd in the valley during the WMPO and Superbowl weekend. So I headed down to Tucson for a day for a round of golf. Why did I choose Quarry Pines? It wasn't all the way into Tucson. I'm truly glad it was a decent choice. I know there are other choices in the area that are far better. But Quarry Pines was more than adequate. This course definitely has two personalities. The front nine is lined with homes on both sides of the fairways. Nothing special, and the type of course you normally see in the desert. The back nine, however, is harder, goes through the old Quarry, and has a lot more character. This course was well worth the visit. read more

This course was pretty cool and quite reasonable compared to others in the area. The setting is the same as the name----it's juxtaposed next to a real quarry. The course could be quite challenging. Especially when you don't have good golf clubs. The club rentals were reasonable, but the selection was questionable. It was hard to adjust my game to the rental clubs. I would definitely play there again as long as I brought my clubs. The staff there was very nice. read more

Frost delay yesterday. Staff was rude, aggressive, almost threatening. Unfortunately this was the second time in a row that the cart staff treated our group like this. I have avoided going back but our large group wanted to play the course. I'll stick to better courses with staff that are welcoming and professional. Like San Ignacio Golf Club in Green Valley, Quarry Pines offers well maintained surfaces (tee boxes, fairways and greens), great views, elevated tees, some challenging holes with narrow fairways, and most intriguingly, presents a great value at $60 a round. The only negatives are the clubhouse is really more like a snack bar - not so great - and the day we played - Saturday, April 23rd - the beverage cart attendant seemed to have an attitude, wasn't friendly at all and didn't seem all that interested in asking if we desired refreshments on the two occasions she passed our group. The negatives aside, it's a course I highly recommend if you're in the area and one I plan to play again ... I'll just be sure to bring my own cold Gatorade and not worry about cart service. read more

What a steal of a golf course? The front 9 is much like a municipal golf course, wide and open. The back 9 is the most difficult course in the area due to being built into a quarry. With deals being around 20 dollars for 18, this is an incredible value. It's a huge bummer that with the apartments built next door that the driving range is closed. I hope one day they can work something out like a fence or net. They have also handled the pandemic rules and regulations well. Encouraging social distancing through not sharing golf carts as well as removing shared water stations is appreciated. The staff is always nice and the grounds are kept up nicely. read more

I made an early single tee time for 6:12AM To avoid the heat. I am a three handicap. I get to the golf course and check in and pay. Get to #1 tee box and there is a regular group of old guy members that have the first two tee times of which mine is with them. They aggressively tell me they had two more players joining them and i will need to get another tee time. David (one of the assistant pros)and another member who decided to play that morning but had no tee time. I thought I have a tee time and I am not going to ruffle any feathers so I will wait. One of the members says they will get one of the pros. Still no worries. The pro comes and tells me they are moving me back to a later time with a single and a twosome. We wait and twosome doesn't show up. We tee off and immediately catchup to the old guy member groups. We wait on every hole because they don't want our twosome to play through. Adds at least an hour to our round. You may think you have a tee time but if the members (or staff) want the time you won't have one. The signs may say public welcome but they are not. read more

July 12, 2018 is the wrong day to go play this course which would otherwise be very exciting and visually stimulating. But the floods or monsoons have completely destroyed the back nine ; the only nine that was open and it should've been closed also. The golf course is very unique and challenging, unfortunately so are their billing practices. Two weeks ago, I paid for 4 players. The next morning my credit card statement actually showed that I was charged for 6 players. I called the pro shop and they acknowledged the error. Two weeks later, one tee time was reversed but despite three separate calls to the pro shop and promises to reverse the other fee, nothing has happened. When I called to make a tee time and heard the automated voice say "the only quarry golf course," I couldn't predict what a superb experience awaited me. This course, the back nine especially, is an incredible deal of fun. The holes are distant, challenging, and beautiful. Was only able to golf the front nine (see below), but it is a nice, fun layout. The course has somewhat narrow fairways and not much room to work with if you miss right. However, it's not an overly long course so most people can probably get away with using a wood, hybrid, or long iron off the tee. While the course was fun, it's not in the best condition. The tee boxes look neglected and there are lots of areas that could use some extra care. The greens were very rough. They look like they were probably aerated a few weeks ago, but the problems aren't just limited to that. There appears to be dead spots and areas that could use some extra care. I think if the greens were in better shape, the other aspects of the course wouldn't really matter. But putting on these greens made it very frustrating. Despite all that, I would still probably play again since the prices are so low ($17.99 for 18 and cart). But my main complaint is that the restaurant was already closed when we went to order food at the turn. Keep in mind it was a weekend and only 1:45 pm. We didn't eat lunch prior to starting, and the golf carts advertise ordering food on hole 8. Once you get to hole 8, there's a large board with the menu. When we went to order, we were told they were already closed. We couldn't play the back 9 because we had to leave to go eat. All in all, not a bad course. Fun layout, but not in the best condition. Also, beware that their restaurant closes early. read more

Can a golf course have a split personality? How about an evil twin or a long, lost sibling? Strange description for a golf course? Come give Quarry Pines a try. I heard about this course from my best friend and constant golfing partner. He told me to book a tee time and play. I've seen this course right off the I-10 just north of Tucson, Arizona. It's a solid hours drive from Phoenix, maybe 30 minutes from downtown Tucson. They offer some great deals online. So I booked us a tee time and gave it a try. First, the clubhouse and restaurant are first rate. We were greeted at the clubhouse with gentle laughs since Dave decided to wear his outrageous blue golf pants. It was a good deal since they gave us a free bucket of range balls as a consolation for laughing at his pants. So now the split personality part. The front nine is somewhat traditional as it winds through a beautiful housing development. Fairways are wide, rolling and very playable. Greens are in great shape and generous. But then you make the turn. Its called Quarry for a reason. Deep, deep valleys, narrow fairways between steep hills of rock, absolutely NO forgiveness for missed shots! Have you ever seen those photos of rice paddies carved into the sides of mountains? Thats a pretty good example of how accurate your shots need to be. Either across, down or up a hill or valley, Quarry Pines is a challenging course. Its dual personality makes for great playing. so please give it a try. You will love playing this course. read more

My family held a reception and Celebration of Life for our Father who passed away on April 22, 2022. The service was nothing short of outstanding! I would like to commend Paula and Chef "G" for providing outstanding customer service through the entire event. The food was outstanding and support from room set up, extra carry out boxes, cups and other critical materials to make the event a memory we will never forget was superb! First time playing golf in Marana/Tucson area. The course was in great shape and fun to play. There was a lot of elevation change which made it a challenge. Some holes were harder than others. Par 5's were a challenge for me. Played at 12pm on a Wednesday and it was empty so I played two balls. Only issue really not golf related- their fryer wasn't turned on so I couldn't order half of the stuff on their menu during the turn. It's ok though I got something else. All in all I would probably play this course again! read more

Good course for a great price. This is my second visit in one week. You just can't beat their $18.99 price with cart included. In addition, they offer a free rewards program. You play 5 rounds, and the 6th is free. Greens and fairways are well kept. My only complain is that the tee boxes are all uneven. read more

There is social distancing, and then there is being ridiculous. My husband and I decided to go golf, as we haven't left the house in over a week. I usually caddy for him, and have no problem paying a ride along fee, but when we arrive I was scolded because apparently we cannot share a cart. When we checked in we were informed that I would have to have my own cart to "social distance" with each other. ...we're married. This is literally not how that works. I would understand if I was sharing a cart with a stranger, but this is my husband. Misunderstanding and misrepresenting social distancing is what causes panic and fear. read more

The course is always nice. We had a 702 tee time, the course moved us up to 652 without notifying us, and then rushed us when we got there at 649, which was frustrating, so of course we weren't at the first tee by 652 and the starter lectured us about how they are always on time and we should be too. We were so rushed that my father in law didn't have time to change his shoes and had to tee off barefoot. If you're going to change someone's tee time and not tell them, don't treat them as though they are inconveniencing your course. After telling the starter that we in fact were not late, rather our time got pushed up, all he responded with was "oh". No apology, nothing. Definitely disappointed in the customer service we experienced today. read more

I came to this site to write a review of the positive experience I had last week at Quarry Pines--really nice course in great shape--reasonable rates and a very professional, friendly staff. Before I began, I looked at a couple of other reviews and noticed they complained about the ranger speeding them up and requiring they play on pace. During our round, the group in front of us was very slow. The ranger talked to them at least twice and then let us and at least one other group play through. I appreciate the fact they have a ranger that is making an honest attempt to create a reasonable pace of play. Without that, our round would have been well over 5 hours For those who are going to get butt-hurt because the ranger told you to pick up the pace, maybe you should go to a course that doesn't care about pace of play--enjoy your 5+ hour rounds read more

The ranger ruined my round. This is a nice track in reasonably good condition. However, they book tee times seven minutes apart and have several cartpath only holes (normally not a problem). But If any daylight opens up in front of you, the ranger is Johnny on the spot to ask you play faster, even if you are on pace. I found myself uncomfortable taking time to read putts, taking time to look at the yardage book, etc. They should book the tee times further apart and make up for the lost revenue by not paying a ranger to make life miserable for many people. It is sad when you feel too rushed to patronize the beverage cart. The rest of the staff was very friendly but you won't see me there again. read more

Great little golf course, we always play here on our 1st day in Tucson. It has a good warm up starting 9 holes and a back nine that can push your game with shots and great views. The back is a trip through an old quarry, good carry holes and lots of valleys and tight dog legs, putting is really challenging if you are not on the right green plane. read more

This is a great course and is very challenging on the back 9. The only negative I have is that they made me ride with the other solo in the group and he was not my type of guy. Giving me tips on my swing every time I hit a shot. I scored better then him anyway, but I have never been forced to ride with another solo player. Love the golf course! It's in excellent condition. There is a tactful way to tell golfers to keep up with the group in front of them but the Marshall on hole #3 was rude! Without even seeing that we had to wait on every shot on the first 2 holes, he approached us on hole #3 and said we should have been off the tee box by the time the group in front of us were stepping off the green. Had he not had driven his golf cart across the middle of the fairway, we would have been able to tee off faster. Then when we we told him we can't go faster because we've been waiting on every shot for the group in front of us he said "don't be aggressive!" Seriously? After that, we still had to Wait...On...Every...Shot!!! read more
