I love this place. Many years ago, I played my first real game of golf here. In addition to my affections for the place because of my history with it, Randolph's golf courses (and all the public courses in Tucson, for that matter) have really stepped it up in their efforts to make Tucson City-sponsored golf really pleasant. The staff is universally helpful, playful, friendly and caring. The facilities and greens are now well-cared-for, and one can tell that staff takes pride in their work. I went to use the range last Sunday. They were re-seeding so they had us on their ripped up, buckled matts. I stepped off of it to T-up balls so I could work my driver. A kid, employee, walks up and tells me "quit hitting off the grass sir!" I told him no, and that I wasn't hitting off the grass, I was htting off a T because there's no T-hole in the matts. He goes on to tell me to get off of the grass. Keep in mind where I was there was no ryegrass growing. It was dying out bermuda and mud. I again told him no, I paid for the balls and I intended to use them or they could give me a refund. The kid had a sneer on his face from the outset of the interaction. Right when I was leaving the manager came down and I hear the kid say "he's right there." Unreal! That place, and the city, can screw off. They are gouging locals, prices are double than other courses like Canoa Ranch or Torres Blancas were this summer, and at one point over the summer they were charging locals $10 more a round than non-residents!! I guarantee anyone, the city courses, particularly Fred Enke saw a drop off in revenue this summer because they gouged locals. Enke was charging $32 for 9-holes! Now they are screwing us over at the ranges. read more

Its legit. The holes get derivative but there are some solid par 5s and no easy par 3s. Today I played with 3 old guys who played fast except when they went to hunt down their refurbished Titelist. Here's the weird thing: I pull into the parking lot at 0700 and I'm getting passed in the lot by grandpa's in their Lincoln town cars and Camrys. They're doing 50 mph in the big parking lot racing for spaces. These old guys jump out of their vehicles before their car comes to a complete stop, they hop out, and in one fluid motion they lace up their sketcher extra wide spikeless, open their clic gear, toss their ping cart bag full of metal woods and wedges with iron covers on the cart and grimly hobble as fast as their reconstructed knees will take them into the proshop to be first off the tee box. It was the angstyest golf scene I've ever seen. But here's the thing. It's well run, the pro shop flows people thru, the starter pairs them up quick and the pace of play on a Friday morning at this high round count track was okay. 18 holes in 4hrs...not bad. Greens rolled true but look like they're recovering. Fairways okay, bunkers for sure need more sand and less clay but hey, it ain't Augusta. For sure worth a round but I might have caught it on a good day as it has the high potential to be a 6 hr round and if the staff changes I can see how you can hate the place...so go soon before anything changes! read more

This review is about the driving range. The actual range is not bad, but the card reader for the bucket of balls is a scam. The machine won't dispense the balls on the first try. You have to try it several times for it to work. Then later when you check you bank account you'll notice you've been charged several times. This has happened to me twice. The first time was charged for an extra basket $7, and today I was charged for two extra baskets. I'm sure this has happened to everyone who try to pay with a card. When you do get the ball about half of them are really old. I will not be back. read more

We played the north course today weather was perfect sunny and 73 degrees. Course conditions were excellent green s fairways and tees . Only thing missing was ball washers on course or carts. Pace was slow on front 9 but better on back 9. 3.7 hours for 18 holes. Staff was polite and helpful. Fairways were wide with grass at perimeter not desert. read more

Went in to see if I could exchange my range pass because it was not working and check my balance. The front desk guy at the clubhouse was not very friendly and helpful, he seemed like I was bothering him when I was the only one in the clubhouse. Good layout that has been completely and totally neglected. Painted fairways, zero ruff, no living Grass outside of the greens. Saw two dead birds in separate fairways today that looked like they had been left there for weeks. I've played the courses probably 50 times each and never once have I seen someone out working on them while I've been playing. And the worst part? It costs 60 bucks. If you're going to charge a 50+ dollar round at least take a little pride in your work. Really sad to see what could be two solid public tracks be so mismanaged. read more

We went out with an 80%chance of rain and no rain! The staff is friendly and helpful. We came in from Orange County and had a great day. One of the best stocked pro shops, huge selection of clothing and some at 50% off. Rarely see Nike brand at those prices. Clean bathrooms. A beautiful course, we were pleased. read more

It's nice to have a course in mid town however this course is in terrible condition. They have lost the fairways which are primarily dirt. Greens are one step from being lost also. OB sports needs to reevaluate their goals for this facility. If you enjoy playing dirt and mud fairways you have found a home. read more

Pretty inexpensive to play even during golf's busy season in Tucson. It's a city course, so don't come thinking its maintained anywhere close to a private course. I recommend coming and playing either before or after work- this is a great location IN TOWN. You'll almost always get paired up unless you have 3 or more people in your group. Golfing Randolph North. Nice layout. Great location. The course itself looks better than it did a month ago. Greens are inconsistent. A few were great. A few were rough. Bumpy. Fairways were decent. In front of the greens were the best I have seen in a long time. Tee boxes for the most part are bad. Grass is so so. Rolling. Hard to find a flat spot. Refreshment carts were around more often than I have seen in a long time. Yay! Driving range...nobody knows how to use the credit card reader for golf balls. I find myself scrounging for cash because I think I have seen someone successfully use it once. read more

I've lived in Tucson for about 4 years now and have played here many times. During the summer, it is typically in good shape and the snowbirds are gone. Summer rates are around $25-40 depending on day/time/etc. During the winter, expect to pay at least $50 for AM times. The pace is awful (4.5-5hrs) and the conditions are sub-par. When I first moved here, there were rangers that helped to herd the slow people and keep the pace reasonable. In the last couple years, it's not uncommon to be 2-3 groups deep, just waiting on the tee-box. I've even called the clubhouse from #9 before. We were the 3rd group in line and we were thru #8 in 2hrs 15min. They didn't care. Said they would send someone out, but they didn't. I would've seen as I was sitting there for 30min. I played yesterday, (found a deal online for $30) so I walked in as a single. It took 2 hours to play 6 holes. I quit at the turn, because unlike the retired people out there, I have stuff to do. They gave me a rain check for the remainder of the round because of the pace. Maybe they could pay for a ranger instead of giving rain checks? I think the real problem is how greedy they are. Spacing tee times out every 8 minutes, knowing the typical skill level of the players that come through there. They are rarely on time anyway. The city courses here are a last resort for me. In the time I have lived here there are only a handful of good experiences. I'm no pro, but I'm a 10hcp that plays pretty fast. read more

I went in there with my brother to play 18 holes and ZACH was terrible regarding his attitude the both of us. We asked if we can move our reservation up and refused which is fine. It was the terrible attitude that was the bad experience. we went back in because the course was empty and took other walk ons before our tee time. we asked him again and AGAIN he didnt even look at us and said we are out of luck booked for the day. Forgot we had a tee time and then walked away from us. I got frustrated and walked out to the cart distributer and he said there hasn't been anyone on hole 1 - in the last 25 min and there is time. we went back in and ZACH said okay he will let us on at 130 then said it was 69 dollars. this is where we were the most frustrated, we were quoted 36 and he said the price drops at 145. We asked if 15 min made a difference and he didn't respond. love the course but that was the worst employee with a terrible attitude i have ever seen. read more

I go to the driving range here at night. It is well lit, there's always plenty of room. Be sure to bring $5 and $1 bills for the machines. $3 for bucket of 35, $5 for bucket of 70. read more

I went to the driving range here. It was alright. It was cheap but make sure to bring change for the machine!! The ground was kinda...messed up from all the divots but it's a good price so it's not bad. And maybe I just went right before they were going to move where the spaces were. Just played here, cheap municipal course, a little rough around edges in terms of looks but overall decent course. Fast greens but had a good time. Can't beat for the price. Next time in Tucson I will play here. read more
