I can't remember the last time I was this impressed with a hotel! Our stay at the Hilton Quebec was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The hotel itself is beautiful and pristine, and I was especially impressed with our room--the gorgeous view, the cleanliness, and how well everything was maintained. There was a little bit of a language barrier when we first checked in, but everything worked out perfectly in the end and certainly didn't take away from our experience. One thing I especially appreciated was the housekeeping. Every day, like clockwork, our room was cleaned and they did an amazing job. It was so refreshing! It seems like at so many hotels in the U.S. these days, you have to request housekeeping or wonder whether your room will be serviced at all. Here, we came back each day to a beautifully refreshed room, which made our stay feel that much more special. The hotel also has a great little coffee shop with a nice variety of food and drinks. My boys were absolutely obsessed with the game room, what a great touch for families! We were also able to enjoy the pool a couple of times, and the pool bar was another nice bonus. I also have to mention one of the security guards, although I unfortunately can't remember his name. He was incredibly helpful to our family on more than one occasion. One of my boys cut his foot outside and it was bleeding quite a bit, and the security guard was wonderful about helping us with first aid. We later had an issue with our shower door, and he came up to help us with that as well. His kindness and willingness to help really stood out. When it comes to hotels, it seems like there is almost always something that falls short, but the Hilton Quebec truly seems to strive for perfection. Between the beautiful property, incredible views, spotless room, consistent housekeeping, family-friendly amenities and helpful staff, we had such a positive experience. Beautiful hotel, staff was friendly and lobby had plenty of seating with a lounge, cafe and sundry shop! The view from our room was magnificent, we could see the entire historic city and river! This is one of the nicer and larger hiltons I've been too. Good location with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Huge lobby and check in area. They have a restaurant right in the lobby as well as a store that has snacks, drinks and coffee. The rooms are decent sized and comfortable with a refrigerator as well. I also had a good view from my room as well. The gym here is decent sized but it has a lot of machines. It's very good for a hotel gym. Decent sized outdoor pool as well as a sauna. I would definitely stay here again if I'm in the area. read more

Tried to check in straight after my cruise but my room was not ready, although I got a key. Left bags at the concierge desk and went out to explore the town. The hotel is clean and centrally located. The staff at the front desk are not overly friendly and they didn't appreciate my broken French although I tried. The front desk did not know anything about my transport to the airport the following day so they sent me to the concierge who were very helpful with that and restaurant areas. The pool was warm and they have a coed sauna. I finally got a room about 3:30 pm. The hotel was booked by the cruise line and cost about $400 for the room which included transport from the port not too far away. read more

The airbnb I'd booked was quite nice but also required a bit of a hike to get to the center of things in Quebec City. I had no regrets but a mental note was made that if I ever returned for a short visit, the Hilton Quebec was very well located. Little did I realize how soon I'd be back for that short visit. After 5 nights in QC my flight out got delayed then canceled and I found myself in need of a room for the night. Hello Hilton Quebec. Not only is the Hilton centrally located (especially for the summertime FEQ music festival), but it also has a really great bar serving delicious food. Being here for 1 night, I didn't ask a lot of the Hilton but was thrilled by the beautiful view of Parliament (worth whatever extra you will pay) from my window. As a Hilton Honors Gold Member, and with family who have been loyal to the Hilton brand for many years, I always have an affinity for the Hilton brand over Marriott because of their better customer service and better accommodations. I stayed at this property for four nights and have plenty to say about it, but why not break it down for the folks at home? The Good Parts The location is great. Sure, it is on top of a hill, so it can be tiresome to get to all the great restaurants and other attractions, but that is what makes it great. You go down before you come up. My room had an amazing view of Parliament, the Citadel, and the Plains of Abraham, Quebec City's version of Central Park. My room was comfortable and spacious, with plenty of hot water and the bed was very comfortable. The hot breakfast was decent. My digital room key worked perfectly every day of my stay. For the most part, friendly staff. Veronique was a joy and greeted me each morning with a friendly bonjour and went above and beyond to make me feel like a valued guest. The Bad Parts While the room had great views, cleanliness again played a problem. I had stained sheets from the moment I walked in, up to my second to last night. Housekeeping tried their best to amend it but it never really got resolved until my last day. As compensation at least they gave me a free breakfast and extra points due to inconveniencing me. The bathroom shower was DISGUSTING. Red stains all over the walls and frosted windows. Again, I had to get housekeeping involved. They managed to get the stains out, but I had to supervise them to ensure it was done right. Elevators were quirky and the buttons did not always function properly. WiFi was a bit spotty at times, especially at night. -- It could have been better, but it could have been much worse. If I come back to Quebec City, I might stay here, or I might just cough up a little extra money and stay at the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac, and no that is not my elitist ego talking. read more

This Hilton is located right across the street from the Parliament building. It's also a 22 minute walking distance to the Fairmont, which is all downhill. But just remember that you will have to make that trek back to the hotel afterwards. If you can, make sure to get a room with either a Parliament or Old City view. It's worth the upgrade to wake up to that view. Though the walk to Old Town can be long, a great alternative is going to Rue Saint-Jean. This small street is filled with restaurants. This is only a 5-7 minute walk from the hotel. A tip for folks traveling to/from the airport. Make sure you take a taxi as they have a negotiated rate of $42.45 with the city. Don't take a ride share as that will run you more. When you need to head back to the airport, there's a few taxi's waiting right outside that can take you back, so you don't have to wait for a taxi. Walking in to the lobby, there are a lot of seats available and a bar. Luckily, we arrived before 11am and there wasn't a line to check in. The person that checked us in was so nice and accommodating. She was able to get us checked in to 1 room right away and will text me when the 2nd room was ready. Being a Gold member, I was offered free bottles of water during our stay for both rooms. I also received 2 complimentary breakfast buffets for each morning we were there. The breakfast buffet wasn't that bad, but we were only allowed the cold items and not hot items like bacon, eggs, hash and sausage. For the hot items, there is an up charge of $15 pp. Which, I don't think it was worth the up charge to be honest. The complimentary items was good enough. The hallway is nice and clean. However, our 2 queen bedroom was a little on the small side. It's not the best situation for 4 adults. There's a bench for you to sit or put your luggage on. There's also a coffee maker with K-Cups I believe. There's also a mini fridge and safe. The bathroom is a little tight in there and will be hard to accommodate 2 adults in there. I like that there are shelves to be able to put your toiletry away. Our room had a bath tub/shower. It would have been nice to have a real shower instead and that would have given the bathroom more space and not felt so confined. I love that there were outlets on both sides of the beds. It would have been nice to have a night table also. I had to use my luggage as a table instead. The TV was on a bracket that you can pull away from the wall and tilt it. This is especially nice if you bring your own AppleTV or Roku to access the HDMI port. There are also wall outlets close by to the TV. The bed was very comfy and on the firm side. Though the hotel is on the newer side, it's a bit of a walk to old town and doesn't help that it's uphill. There is also an Avis/Budget car rental on sight, but make sure you make reservations before you get there as they don't have a lot of cars available. We ended up having to rent our car at the Enterprise located inside of the Delta hotel about 3-5 minutes walk on the same street as the Hilton. Just keep in mind that the Enterprise is not open on weekends. read more

This was one of the worst Hilton experiences. The hotel is outdated but managed to sleep alright. But the worst is the staff. People in general in Quebec City are not friendly if you don't speak French. You really will not feel welcome. Having said that it's a beautiful city. It's very clean and historic. If I could give a negative star I would.This is THE WORST hotel I have ever stayed in and its customer service is nonexistent. I have literally had to BEG every single day for a bottle of water. I was spoken to inappropriately by the "help desk" I believe her name was Caroline. The luggage when we arrived was put on a cart and taken out of sight. I wanted a bag to freshen up immediately and unpack and the attendant watched me grab two bags and then pulled the cart away from me to deliver it to my room after telling me that I would need to wait for it to be delivered. Excuse me? These are MY bags!!!!! What is happening???? I called ahead of our stay to ask if I could have certain things in our room since we would be staying for 9 days and I was told that I would have those things. I asked if I could have a room with a tub and are those rooms available with a view and can I book that specific room on points. I was told yes and the room was available and reserved for us. When we arrived I was told that the company that books the reservation is separate from the hotel and the communication is non existent. Interestingly enough when the credit card was called out that communication is crystal clear. I was lied to by a company and then treated as though my expectations were too much for the hotel. I was told that our room would not have a tub but the front desk assured me that it was a satisfactory room and very nice. I wanted a room with a tub and was lied to and now I am being told how to feel about the new room that doesn't meet my expectations. I would not recommend staying at this hotel and I personally will stay ANY other hotel than a Hilton property from here on out. They certainly lack common courtesy and communication skills. read more

This is a great location to experience Old Quebec from. We had a 17th floor room overlooking the river so it was quite pleasant to wake up to every morning. The rooms are a bit dated but clean. There is a good sized bar and an on-site convenience store for water, sodas, snacks...etc. It is a central location to everywhere you'd want to travel to in the city. read more

One our very first trip to Quebec City together, my boyfriend and I had booked Hilton Quebec. It was purely because I worked at Hilton and figured it would be our best bet at a nice stay. Working in hospitality means I'm really picky about where we stay and I like the Hilton standard. We opted to Valet parking because parking is already quite $$$, may as well have the bellman and valet service grab the car for us when we need it. The service is quick and the staff are absolutely wonderful. I booked a surprise trip to Quebec City for my boyfriends birthday surprise, and originally was going to book the same room with a view of the Old Quebec City street. But I noticed for a little more upgrade, I could get a panoramic corner room. Oh my gosh it was so worth it that I'm fairly certain we'll need to book this room each time we visit. It was stunning! I loved our view every night and every morning. The city is absolutely gorgeous and because we came around the time of all the festivals, we got to see the excitement and night shows all around us. The staff also went above and beyond to welcome us and wish us a happy birthday and visit. We were greeted with strawberries and macarons and Eska water. It was perfect after a long days drive. At check out, there turned out to be an issue with the billing, but the front desk was super quick to update that for me and I was out within minutes. Super kind staff and honestly, I would recommend Hilton to anyone visiting the city. By the way, they have a rooftop pool that goes indoors so you can get into the water first before going out into the cold air. Great for a romantic winter swim! read more

I decided to splurge and get another room for my twenty year old son who was about to go back to college. Next summer we may not see him as he'll be at Fort Knox doing Advanced Camp for Army ROTC. We're hoping he had so much fun he'll try to come back to see his parents when he has time. ROOMS: 5/5 STARS ================= We loved our room #2210 on the 22nd floor with an outstanding view. My son loved his room #2213 on the 22nd floor with an outstanding view as well. SERVICE: 5/5 STARS ================== Love the staff. They are friendly and we really didn't need anything other than maybe some comped wine in the Executive Lounge. I hate to compare apples and oranges, but when I stayed at a Starwood owned hotel in Paris they did not skimp on wine and beer. Getting nickled and dimed on a glass wine and having to order it was a pain. Just a little constructive criticism. AMBIANCE: 5/5 STARS =================== Best view I've ever had in a hotel. And that includes beach front hotels in Hawaii. We had front row seats to fireworks on the evening of August 7, 2019 and my husband will not complain about the hotel bill after that. You can self park in the structure for $19.00 a day, but you can only leave once a day. If you leave more than once it is $30.00 a day. Rooms on the high floors on the Parliament side of this property offer a panoramic view of the Citadel and the Old City which are not more than a 10 minute walk away. Some amenities including the restaurant except for breakfast have not returned as of July 2022. There is no lack of eateries from charming bistros to haute cuisine literally from around the corner and in the Old City. The in room coffee service is an expresso machine which is nice but it is also hissingly loud and annoying to anyone else still asleep in the same room. read more

Been staying at hiltons for 24 years mostly domestic USA but also numerous locations in Europe. Our stay during FEQ was one the best Hilton experiences I've ever had. This place was simply amazing. The recent remodel was stunning. Our room was sharp but the lobby and bar were gorgeous. Room was impeccably clean. Literally spotless. We loved the HUGE windows from our 19th floor overlooking the old city. Enjoyed just sitting and watching the view. Every hotel staff person was professional and courteous despite our challenges with speaking French. There was never a language barrier problem. As a diamond member we got access to the lounge on 23 which gave us access to amazing views on 2 sides as well as breakfast, snacks and other refreshments. The location is super convenient Overall it was a great 3 days. Whoever the manager is really has turned this location around compared to my previous visit maybe 8 years ago. Well done. read more

The Hilton in Quebec City is ideally and conveniently located near Old Québec (a UNESCO world heritage treasure). Hotel I checked in with no issues at the front desk was friendly and spoke English. Access to the floors requires the use of the keycard. The room and the furniture is a little dated compared to other Hiltons. The hotel is across the street to Old Québec, La Citadelle de Québec (active military base w/daily changing of the guards at 10 am during the summer season), and Centre des congrès de Québec (Convention center). Parking If you are flying into the city, then take a taxi as you will not need a rental car if you are planning only to visit the sites in Old Québec. If you are driving to the city, then leave your car in the parking garage as you will not need it. There is in and out privileges with valet but none with self-parking. Valet parking is $30 CDN and $20 CDN for self-parking. You can save $1 CDN if you charge the fee to the hotel. The self-parking lot is behind the hotel on Rue Saint-Joachim. Look for the sign Indigo Parking. Take a ticket and then find a spot to park. Some elevators can take you to the hotel lobby near the parking cashier. During the initial check-in, you can temporarily park the car in the front of the hotel to check-in. Remy and other doormen will watch your car. Don't forget to tip the doorman. Executive Lounge The lounge is located on the 23rd floor and is opened 24hrs. During lunch hours, the lounge is a restaurant called Le23. Access to the lounge is for specific members of the Hilton Honors program and if you purchase it as part of the room. The lounge provides complimentary breakfast, water, soda, juice, and evening hors-d'oeuvre. All alcohols are pay as you go. No one under 18 is allowed in the lounge. Pool/Gym The pool is heated and is located on the 3rd floor with the gym. Special Situation - I left some documents in the room safe and the Lost & Found staff, Nicole P. was able to retreat it and FedEx it to a different city with no issues. She is a life-saver as she saved me a trip from driving back to Quebec City. Overall, I would stay at the hotel on my next visit to Quebec City. read more

Overall a very pleasant stay - an amazing view with a huge window, comfortable bed, decent breakfast, and friendly and professional staff. One small annoyance was they had two kinds of showers, and they kept dripping constantly. There was a loud drilling noise in one morning, but as soon as we let the concierge know, they stopped it and resolved the issue. Great and modern hotel in Quebec City. It's located centrally to everything. A few minutes short walk can get you to the old town tourist area. The rooms are new and clean. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The check in staff was very friendly and efficient. Parking is around $22 for self park and $33 for valet. Get the higher floor so you can have the view of the lake and the old town area. The only draw back at the time when we were staying there was a strike by the hotel workers that created quite bit of noise. read more

I will always love my Hilton Quebec. Wait until you see the outstanding renovations they've done to this place. In my opinion this is the nicest looking Hilton in all of North America. With a new High End version to fit the city's charm other properties should follow their example. Definitely make a point to have a panoramic lunch or a drink on their 23rd Floor. incredible views! we were here on the first day of winter carnival so the price/night was pretty high for a smaller but nonetheless comfortable room. the real perks are for hilton diamond members because the lounge offered afternoon hors d'oeuvre and continental breakfast with an insanely beautiful panoramic view of quebec city. alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. the hotel lobby restaurant was nice. there's a heated outdoor pool that's open even in -37c temp- insane, i know. and there's a co-ed sauna. smaller gym but with full lockers. our team struggled a bit with exiting the underground parking, with little help from the hotel staff. read more

The bathroom needs work (ie, needs new paint, a bit of cracking paint, rusted metal, bit of mold above shower/tiles and tub wouldn't flow correctly upon showering. Absolutely AWFUL experience! When we arrived the check-in line was wrapped through the entire lobby. We were told by a staff member that we could check in through the app, but they have no wifi in the lobby and as an international traveler we had no cell service, so we were out of luck. When we made it to the check-in desk there was no apology just a well we're busy. Next, there was a 15 minute wait to get an elevator up to our room. But, little did we know when we attempted to get an elevator down to go to dinner it would take an absurd 35 minutes! Apparently, people were doing elevator races. The room was boring and nothing special. The bathroom looked dirty. I would NEVER recommend this hotel! Thankfully, our next three nights were at the Chateau Frontenac. Don't waste your money at the Hilton. Instead go to the Fairmont and have an enjoyable experience. read more

When checking in, they listed a king and a queen bed for the room. Yet when we got there it was a king, which we understood. But we had thought we had payed the extra for the queen bed. When we just payed for the room and the Riverview. When trying to discuss with the employee who was helping us as well as the one of the managers, they started to have an attitude insinuating that how they listed it in Booking.com was our fault. The manager, Bridget I believe is her name and the male employee with black hair and I think a minor beard and mustache, were rude and would not let us discuss not allowing us to talk and interrupting us as well. When we asked to speak and not be interrupted, she still would not let us speak a word. The other manager of the hotel and a female employee, made our stay feel better and we felt less upset with the costumer service. read more

Beautiful view of Quebec City from the rooms, the amenities were alright and the nights were quiet when I went to bed which was nice. I was here on a business trip for a couple nights. Upon arriving, it took some time to get checked in. The hotel looked nice and a little fancy when I first entered the building. However, when I got out of the elevators and onto the floor that I was staying on, the quality dropped a little. It felt outdated. The same goes for the room. It was too dark for my liking, not enough lamps to illuminate the whole room. When I was working at the hotel to catch up on my emails, it was very inconvenient to find out that the wifi was only free for the first 24hrs of my stay. Needless to say, the wifi was of poor quality. I ended up using my cellular data for the most part. There is, however, an option to receive free unlimited wifi if you sign up for their loyalty program. I tried that wifi and it did not work unfortunately. I got stuck in an elevator on my first day in between 2 floors with a few other people. The button to call for help was pushed. However, we only heard a response after the 3rd or 4th time it was pressed. No one came or did anything to help out. This was worrisome to me. Thank god it started to move again after 7 minutes. Overall, the stay was alright. I was expecting a lot better and was quite disappointed. Also, most hotels offer a continental brunch that is usually included in the price of the hotel. This hotel did not have that. I would recommend booking an airbnb for a similar price if you don't absolutely need to stay here. read more

While visiting Quebec, I chose this location because I am a Hilton Honors member. Overall, things were okay, but the property was not among the best Hiltons I have visited in the past. However, the location for visiting the Old City was outstanding. I drove into the city and made my way to the hotel quite easily. However, finding the parking area was NOT easy. The valet area was not well marked. It is a busy intersection, so I had to go around the block three times before finding the parking places. This could easily be remedied by having a street level sign out on the edge of the valet parking area. The self parking garage (which I found first ... and used) was also poorly marked. The front desk personnel were not particularly friendly. Certainly business-like and efficient, but not welcoming. I had to remember however, that this is primarily a convention center hotel and may not cater as much to tourism. I also had trouble with the key card in the elevator (it didn't work) and had to get another set made before I could get to our room. Didn't make me happy. The room was fine and we had a nice view of the old city and waterfront. The bed was also comfortable. The room was perhaps getting a little outdated, but we were okay with it. My pet peeve about some hotels was also evident here. I have never understood why a premium hotel like this does not provide BOTH and ice machine and a drink machine on each floor. Rather, they place those machines on alternating floors ... which is really inconsiderate and inconvenient for guests ... just to save a few bucks? This hotel should rethink that fundamental guest convenience. Bottom line? Go here for the location. Don't expect anything fancy or friendly. Think of it as a basic business transaction. I got a great deal here for the weekend. And we decided to stay for an additional night while staying in Quebec City. Right now the motel is a bit of a madhouse because they are hosting attendees of the G7 summit. That's right - the same G7 summit you've heard about in the news. Trump vs Trudeau, trade war blah, blah, blah. Anyway I like this hotel because even though I am paying for a bargain room I have a great view of the city and St Lawrence River. The flag of Quebec is waving proudly outside the window atop the National Assembly building. What a country! Kudos to the valet parking. It's worth it. Driving around these tight streets in a monster SUV is not easy. I can't imagine what it's like to park. The hotel is clean and up to date. All the technology is in working order. Quick check in. Lovely looking, great city view from my room on an upper floor. Nice staff. So why 3 stars? So much for heavenly Hilton mattresses! It had 2 of the most miserable beds we've had in years. We'd not been able to get a reservation for king bed and opted for 2 queen size beds. Usually that works fine even if it's not our preference. The first one creaked, squeaked and wiggled so we went to the other bed. Unbelievably the was even worse. So we got no rest and after all, that is the main reason we get a hotel room when away from home overnight in a location where we don't have family or friends. read more

Despite construction on the elevators here, we loved the warmth of the front desk staff and the amazing views from our room at this clean and quiet hotel! The food here, both at the Allegro Restaurant in the lobby, and in the Executive Lounge, was quite good. Friendly and attentive staff were always eager to answer questions, clear plates, or cater to any other needs. We had a view looking north and left our curtains open constantly, as the natural light from the enormous windows was perfect. And the location of this hotel cannot be beat - a block away from the old city wall and a few minutes past that are endless restaurants, cafés, plazas and historic buildings. The Château Frontenac and its esplanade, as well as the lower town below it, are about 10-12 minutes away by foot. What a wonderful first visit to this beautiful and clean city, and our hotel only added to the positive experience! read more

This hotel--like many Hiltons that all seem to be from the same time era--has a real split personality. They've "upgraded" some floors on the hotel, but not the top floors. What's odd about this is the top floors are the executive level floors that they give people with Hilton gold and above status. So while they give these people nicer views (higher up), their rooms are completely dumpy and straight out of the 70s. Also, the beds in these rooms are extremely uncomfortable. Not only have they not upgraded the tacky decor on these floors, they apparently never replace the beds either. You'll know right away when getting off the elevator if you're on an upgraded floor or still stuck in the 70s. The renovated floors have more modern looking tile, whereas the non-renovated floors have hideously ugly carpet, random sofas and tables in the elevator waiting area, and really tacky gold square chandeliers. The first night we arrived we were put in a higher up executive level floor.. it was way underwhelming to say the least. We asked to be transferred back to a normal room on a lower floor, they were full (it was Carnival weekend) so we had to wait until the next day to switch. Upon switching we were moved from the 22nd floor to the 7th. The "upgraded" room had mostly new stuff in it... The bed was MUCH nicer. They didn't do much to the bathroom except strip out the cabinet doors and paint the cabinet, and they took out the tacky gold lights. The TV was still the old tube TV. The view out the 7th floor was essentially the same view but not as grand because you couldn't see as much being lower. Also, the windows were disgustingly dirty, you could barely see out of it (they couldn't clean their windows before their busiest weekend of the year?) The Executive lounge on the top floor is nice, it has a great panoramic view. The newest Fodor's guide book describes them going "all out" on it, I wouldn't go that far. And oddly, the executive suites on the same floor as the lounge were not even renovated! Even though we had lounge access (which has a limited brunch buffet), we also had brunch coupons. They describe it as "cold buffet" ... It was pretty standard continental breakfast plus eggs, bacon, and oatmeal (think Hampton Inn's breakfast). Not worth $18 or whatever they were charging others for. The executive lounge had almost the same stuff except they didn't have the hot bacon/eggs stuff. The hotel has no wifi except in the upstairs executive lounge. It's not like it would be free though even if they did have it. The pool.... is one of the more interesting pool experiences I've had. They don't allow you to wear your bathing suit in the elevators, so they require you to change into it in a really dingy, beat up (think high school P.E.) locker room. Now the pool... we initially thought there was an indoor whirlpool... we were wrong, it was actually a tiny sliver of indoor pool that leads through plastic flaps to go outside. Even though it was 20 degrees Fareinheit out, we went for a swim.... As ice pelted our heads we enjoyed a good half hour in the cold. It's slightly heated but still felt a bit cold unless you were completely submerged. Overall it was a totally bizarre that's worth partaking in. There's a dry sauna but it's co-ed, crowded, and overall just a bit awkward. I've been to several Hilton's where they seem to be in the process of a decade long renovation. It's a slow going process that they use as a crutch to try to defend the poor quality found throughout... I wouldn't expect the renovation to finish any time soon, they've got enough done that they can use it as an excuse that things will be better, yet I doubt anything will change any time soon.... read more

Beautiful hotel located just outside the gates of old Quebec clustered together with other high end chain hotels. They have valey parking which is likely pricey, self parking is $20 per day. It's an underground parking around the back of the hotel under the flag pole, the valey was helpful and gave us directions. The lobby and hotel in general is clean, modern, and spacious although our room was small. The staff were nice and spoke English which was good. For a high end hotel I expected more. I prefer the cozy Palais Royal across the way. We visited during a work week in November so there were more business people than tourists. If you venture out on foot outside the old city make sure you know where your going as there are dead ends and massive steep stairs to get to the lower level of the city where Rue Sainte Vallier E and Cote D'Abraham meet. read more

Two wrongs don't make a right, but if you want to find the Hilton's parking lot, you need to make three rights. I felt like Sisyphus looking for a parking spot (in Greek mythology, Sisyphus had to push a rock up a steep hill and right before he got to the top, it would roll down and he had to repeat this for eternity). Its an underground labyrinth of never ending cars and exit (Sortie) signs that seem to mockingly point at one another. After getting out and checking in, the adventure began. A very comfortable hotel that's centrally located, with everything you'll want to see in Vieux-Québec within easy walking distance. The rooms are a decent size, featuring modern furnishings and tremendous picture windows that offer beautiful views of the Old Quebec or Parliament. (Yes, it is definitely worth paying the extra incrimental amount to guarantee your view, since one side of the three-sided hotel faces towards the 'downtown' part of the city, with unremarkable views.) The staff at the hotel is very friendly and aim to please, from the folks at the main desk to everyone in the restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant, they offer a pretty complete buffet breakfast each morning until 11 am, and for those of you with HHonors Gold or Platinum status, you'll be able to upgrade from just the cold breakfast to the complete buffet for the grand sum of $3 - a no-brainer! A couple of negatives that are worth pointing out: First, the wireless Internet is kinda pokey. They offer two networks (hhonors and attwifi), and the young woman who checked us in told us to just use whichever one works better, acknowledging that coverage is spotty. (It worked passably and slowly in my room, but it was hit-or-miss in my friend's room, who had to rely on his LTE connection from time to time.) There's also a bit of inconsistency in how the rooms are provisioned, with my room having no outlets available anywhere near the bed, but my friend's had lamps with outlets. Now, vice-versa, my room had a nice ottoman to use while relaxing, while my friend's instead had a beat-up round table, presumably brought in for someone to use while dining. Balancing all that out is the outdoor rooftop pool. I never imagined I'd go to Québec and go swimming, but it was a great way to end a day of sightseeing, cooling off in the pool and sitting out on the huge roofdeck while enjoying a cold beverage. So, putting the negatives aside, I'm still comfortable giving the Hilton Québec a four-star rating, as it provides excellent customer service, incredible views, and the perfect location just outside the city wall. Beautiful hotel with average hotel rooms. View from the room of the Quebec Parliament & old Quebec were fantastic. $26 for parking (valet with in & out privileges) was a little expensive, so we parked across the street at a convention center parking garage for $8 a night. I don't eat at hotel restaurants because (1) they tend to be overpriced and (2) I want to eat with locals as much as possible, so I can't comment on the restaurants. The location is fantastic -- just outside the walls of the old city -- literally a 2 minute walk to the edge of old Quebec, 10 minutes to the center. No need to drive into town. Plenty of restaurants & fast food nearby, too. I got it on Priceline but I knew from Priceline advice boards like www.betterbidding.com) what I was bidding on. Paid $110 a night for a room that normally costs $180ish. Well worth it, and I'd stay there again hands down. read more

I was not fond of this hotel. The room was much smaller than expected, although clean. We upgraded to executive which gave us access to the executive lounge with complimentary drinks, happy hour and breakfast. Located on the top floor, the view was worth the upgrade. Not only that, but if you upgrade, you also get free access to the wifi which is normally just under ten dollars a day. *side note, elevators were so slow-no wonder they literally place seats next to the elevators-if you have stayed here, you know what I am taking about* The rooms were very quiet at night, but once morning came all I heard were slamming doors and traffic in the halls. Yes, there are hotels that do exist where you do not hear one door slam. The bed was not that comfy, and found myself tossing and turning. Although the duvet was the saving point. Our room had a door next to our bed that connected to the next room beside us. It is useful if you are staying in a hotel with a lot of family members, you can book to rooms beside each other and have access to both room through that door; BUT, it was a total two thumbs down for me. (I guess it brought back memories to a time where I was staying in a similar hotel, and the rooms had connecting doors, and the noise traveled through those doors like nobodies business). Other than that, the icing on the cake was continuously being walked in on the day of checkout. About an hour before it was time to check out, I was walked in on my a housekeeper. There was no knock at the door, I was pretty much barged in on while getting ready to checkout. The housekeeper apologized and left. About 30 minutes later, I heard a knock at the door and I screamed out "Im still getting ready!"...Another housekeeper walked in turned on all the lights, and again, I said..."I am getting ready, checkout is not until noon, and it is not noon yet!"...The housekeeper apologized but stood there near my bed asking if I needed towels and toilet paper. I continued to break it out for her and repeatably say "I am getting ready, I will be out by noon, which is when check out is!"...Finally she got the hint and left. Honestly, its things you read about but never thought it would happen to you. I panicked a lot trying to rush and checkout to the point where I told my hubby to pack everything up bring it to the car. I literally could not wait to get out of there. Personally, I would not stay here on vacation again. I was expecting more from the Hilton. 3 stars is being pretty generous! read more
