Although I don't think the package provides much value. The spa access and breakfast package cost an extra $88 something before tax but a spa access bought directly from STROM is only $79 on weekends. The only other thing was a tiny bottle of bubbly and some rewrapped in hotel branded wrappers two Lindt chocolate balls. Our room has two "queen" sized beds that seemed way more like double beds. The sheets must've been polyester and one pillow case was stained. The bathroom fan wasn't working so the room was damp. The bathroom is a toilet and walk in rainfall shower but sooo cramped. You can barely open the door when standing in front of the toilet due to lack of space! And possibly a consequence of the tight spaces, the light switch is on the outside so you necessarily have to turn on the light which streams into the room as you open the door to go in the bathroom. I found that annoying when you're trying to sleep and someone needs the bathroom flooding the room with light. The sink area was also pretty small but included open shelves with towels, hairdryer and for purchase snack and drinks. There was a mini fridge in the closet as well as a safe. The room was pretty compact and felt crowded for even 3 people. It would probably be cramped for 4 people. Also the building didn't have many spare toilets in the lobby area. There were 2 downstairs from the resto and only 1 next to the main lobby. The staff was nice though, they were pretty helpful even though they didn't know certain details. They have cosy bathrobes available upon request, perfect for winter but very warm for summer lol. The night table in the middle has no outlets but one bed had access to an outlet weirdly between the bed and the exterior wall. We had to charge our phones at the little desk. The website said they had a free shuttle to Old Quebec and STROM spa but it's actually a complementary RTC (public transport) pass. We ended up taking our car since there's plenty of parking at the spa.

However, my partner and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room that it eclipsed the abysmal breakfast experience (more on this later). Staff were friendly and bilingual (though the clerk didn't let me struggle through a conversation in French, rather quickly switched to English). Hallways were filled with the scent of green apples and plastic - certainly nicer than the oppressive urine odour that can result from one over-hydrated drunk. The rooms were spacious and clean, and as one reviewer noted, wood floors are a huge plus here. Who wants to stand in a carpet of foot bacteria from the unwashed masses? If you're into that, don't come here. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom was impressively immaculate. Small points lost for inconvenient light switches, cheap shower products, and a frigid room (what guest wants their room chilled to 18 degrees? I like to maintain some warmth in my extremities and be environmentally friendly - which, as we shall see, this hotel is not). Where this hotel failed was in its utter failure to provide the delicious breakfast so promisingly advertised. The smiling little girl on the poster advertising hot, fresh pancakes and other delectables was really smiling in sinister mockery of what was to be our cruelly disappointing experience. As we weary travellers traipsed downstairs, we sniffed hopefully, like little rats, in anticipation of the mouthwatering aroma of pancakes and syrup, bacon and eggs. Imagine our sad faces when were greeted by a small buffet crowded with the unwashed masses that soil the carpets of those other hotels. In a plastic cabinet, we found tater tots, bacon, sausage, and eggs. Tater tots are impossible to screw up, given that they are essentially the carbohydrate equivalent of plastic. The bacon was plastic. Perhaps NASA technology space bacon? Yet not in an exciting or tasty way. The sausage tasted frankly like the chicken necks and pig hoofs it was probably made from, not to mention the suggestive texture. The homogenous yellow fluff served as eggs was the most edible of the hot food, though the nutritional value was questionable at best. Were these real eggs? Or reconstituted from powder? We probably don't want to know. We were further taunted by a broken pancake machine, child size juice glasses, and disposable dishes. I shudder to think of our carbon footprint. Have you no shame, Holiday Inn Express? More like express global warming. This embarrassing display of a hot breakfast was complemented by a single four slice toaster for which you waited in line as fussy women examined the sides of their toast for perfect browning (You know who you are, toast lady). Notably, the bread selection had no tongs and we were forced to grope unhygienically (anyone interested in contracting pinworms?) for our desired carbolicious side. To top it off, tips were tackily requested by "waitstaff" who did nothing but refill bowls of dense, rock-like miniature croissants and collect a massive quantity of unnecessary refuse. Are they trying to save up tips for a dishwasher and dishes? The surly and environmentally-damning glare of the staff suggested otherwise. Do they even recycle, you ask? No. I could practically hear the girl from the pancake poster laughing maniacally at our disappointment while Mother Earth simultaneously wept tears made of plastic and paper plates. We also did not receive our complimentary newspaper, though, as one inebriated patron noted the previous night, there were trees growing out of the walls in a festive and apparently "modern" attempt at interior design. 3.5 stars given for this tarnished hotel's cleanliness, comfort, adequate and free parking. What would have been 4.5 stars was diminished sadly by this revolting attempt at breakfast. If you are going to serve crap, don't advertise it as delicious. Better yet, don't serve it at all. Let your customers eat something nice for breakfast at our own expense and perhaps offer complimentary bottled water, a decreased rate, or more little trees growing out of the walls..

Exceptional Stay in the Heart of Old Québec…read more L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec was our home for a six-day holiday in Québec City, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. Our double queen room with kitchenette was spacious, immaculately clean, quiet, and exceptionally comfortable. After long days exploring the city, we particularly appreciated the deep soaking tub, the rainfall shower, and what may have been some of the best water pressure we've experienced in a hotel anywhere. Small details matter, and this hotel gets them right. The location is fantastic--perfectly situated within Old Québec and within easy walking distance of the city's historic sites, restaurants, shops, and attractions. Despite being in the heart of everything, the hotel was remarkably peaceful and quiet. One of our favorite amenities was the guest lounge and its outstanding coffee machine, which quickly became part of our daily routine. We also opted for the breakfast package, and it was a delight. Each morning we awoke to a basket of fresh breakfast goodies hanging on our door: fresh pastries, juice, yogurt, and other treats. We never tired of it. As a fun local note, visitors should know that the beloved pain au chocolat is called a "chocolatine" here, just as it is in the south of France! What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is its people. M. Pierrôt deserves special recognition. He was warm, helpful, knowledgeable, and always greeted us with a genuine smile. In truth, every member of the staff we encountered embodied the hotel's reputation for friendly, personalized service. We also appreciated staying in a property with such a rich history. Built on land once known as the "Garden of the Poor," where medicinal plants were cultivated by the Augustines of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, the site has witnessed centuries of Québec City's evolution. Today, the hotel beautifully blends that historic character with modern comfort and thoughtful amenities. It is easy to understand why L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec has earned such an outstanding reputation among travelers. For us, it was the perfect base from which to explore one of North America's most beautiful and historic cities. We would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it enthusiastically to anyone visiting Québec City. A sincere thank you to M. Pierrôt and the entire team for making our holiday so memorable. Outside has large bouncy castles where the kids can play. The pool was extremely warm and it had a nice vibe in the evening especially with different musicians playing music. We had dinner a la carte one night and food was decent for being in the hotel. We can tell how they really try to upkeep this location with staff cleaning around the place. There was quite a few construction around the hotel and it took us a few times with detour to get to the location. This place was about 20-30 mins drive from old Quebec City and very close to the aquarium. Great location and would come back or even to their chain hotel. We stayed 4 nights and the kiddos really enjoyed this hotel.

They had cold, spa water in the lobby all day. The bed was incredibly comfortable, contrary to the standard overly-soft hammocks that most hotels have. Housekeepers came daily. They provided free bus passes for anyone staying at least 3 nights which was an amazing and helpful perk. Aside from being next to a HUGE Simons (inside one of the nicest, biggest malls I've seen), the location isn't convenient to many of the QC attractions or any good restaurants. However it is walking distance to Université Laval which made it perfect for the conference!

The staff was friendly enough and spoke English well. The location is excellent, close to old Quebec City (directly down the same road) and the touristy areas, plus directly across the street from several major malls and shopping centers. I loved the room, it was cozy and comfortable, with comfortable chairs, a good bed, and it was clean. TV had both French channels and Anglophone channels including CNN. There is an indoor pool and a restaurant on site, neither of which I tried. My only beef, and it's small considering parking was free, was that the parking lot kind of sucked. Yes, it was partially covered, but was not a garage like every other place I stayed. Note that they do have an EV charging spot. BUT the open-air lot meant the snow came in at the edges and the poor quality of the parking surface, full of cracks and some potholes, meant that there were streams of ice and black ice all over the place. It was not the most fun I've had dragging bags inside. Also, maybe this is what that yahoo meant, but you do have to lug your bags up about five stairs to get in the door on the first floor that takes you to the elevator. If you have really heavy stuff, I'd suggest taking it in the front door first. Bottom-line: Given the excellent (Priceline) price and comfortable accommodations, plus the excellent location (from which you can drive and park at a downtown garage near the Plains of Abraham (and Indigo lot in our case....just don't get lost on your way back with your phone dead as it gets dark like we did!!) I would definitely return next time I'm in Quebec City. All the complaints I had were minor, and outweighed by the excellent price, great room, convenient location, and free parking.

It looks like a castle in the sky. It is an older hotel but is beautifully preserved. So much history there. The rooms can be a little small- specifically the bathrooms unless you upgrade. We booked a room on the Gold Floor and had a great room, very small bathroom. The cleaning service was inconsistent. We got mouthwash after 3 days but not to start. No slippers like typical Fairmonts. The Gold Floor lounge is nice. Definitely not our favorite gold level lounge but still nice. Limited healthy protein options at breakfast. Vincent was our absolute favorite. We made an attempt to sit in his section every morning. His bright spirit was the perfect way to start the day. The bar downstairs is beautiful. It has limited seating and lots of non-guests want to experience it. The cocktails are so good and service is great. We are headed back in the winter and are looking forward to seeing it during the holidays.
