If you are local (or even if you aren't) you have got to try this place! The dark roast Papua New Guinea coffee and the honey oat latte are my favorites. In the last few months they have added some food items and pastries. The baristas are friendly, and the modern, clean, vibe of the shop is inviting. I only wish they would extend their hours. It would be great if they opened earlier for those that have to get to work early and on Fridays and Saturdays were open at night for coffee and dessert. read more

It is such a cute coffee shop with very great service! I ordered the spanish latte and it was sooo delicious and tasted like a churro. Not something that is usually offered at other coffee shops so I was very excited to try it. Definitely recommend :) It does seem out of place location wise but don't let that deter you from going. read more

One of the best coffee places I've been to in Union County! The owners are very friendly and very knowledgeable. They were happy to tell us about the different beans they had, and they clearly knew a lot but were not condescending (which is hard to find). The coffee itself was excellent - my brother got a pourover Rwanda and I got a cold brew, and we were very happy with both. Queen City coffee has upped the coffee game in Plainfield, NJ. We didn't know that we wanted or needed coffee this delicious and thoughtful but they gave it to us anyway. And I am glad they did! Every drink I have had there is top notch. They are known for their pour overs and those are wonderful when you need a well made hot coffee drink. But if you are more of a latte or cold brew type, they have you covered there as well. My guess is that they have started a revitalization of downtown Plainfield and once we all get out of quarantine I am excited to see what they continue to bring to the community and what follows. read more

The coffee is very good, no complaints. There aren't a lot of other offerings in terms of food or snacks, and they could do better in this department. No biscotti, no smaller offerings like most other cafes. Also, before the summer, we used to be welcome to bring our dogs in (professionally trained and very well-behaved). There was never an issue regarding our dogs, and we took our neighbors who had their well-behaved dog with them, too. However, one day I was told (and not so nicely) that my dog wasn't allowed to lie down on the couch. That was fine, I understood that, and I didn't allow my dog on the couch again, not a problem. Then, after about the third time I went after that with my dog and without any issues with my dog, I was told that dogs were no longer allowed at all. They don't really serve any food, so I don't understand why dogs aren't welcome, particularly if they're well-behaved. Babies that drool and put their mouths and hands on everything are welcome, but not dogs who don't do any of that. Our dogs are welcome at Clo Coffee on Stephenville Parkway in Edison, so we go there now with the pups, and the coffee is as good, if not better. The owners and baristas at Clo are a lot friendlier and more chill. Also, Queen City keeps discontinuing things that I really liked, like the Lilibeth iced tea and the mini quiches. They seem to be subtracting all the things I initially liked about this place, not adding. Also, truth be told, the owner (Monica) is unfriendly to us, so we've decided to not go anymore. It's sad, because we want to patronize our local Plainfield small businesses; but, Queen City is just not upping their game and not making us feel like valued customers. :-( read more

The coffee is delicious and best I've ever had, but that is just the start. The atmosphere in this cafe is unique and wonderful, in fact you tend to linger because of how inviting it is. Great place that's hip and cool. Their coffee is incredibly smooth and tastes the way coffee really should. They roast their own beans and do not use the drip method but rather pour over with distilled water for the cleaning tasting coffee you will ever have. During my first (and only visit because of Covid), I told the manager that the coffee shop was amazing. He jokingly said, "We aren't just a coffee shop, we are a Roastery." Apart from roasting delicious coffee from exotic places like Papua New Guinea, Ethiopia, and Colombia; Queen City Coffee Roasters have dedicated themselves to their customers and local community. If that wasn't enough of a reason to support them, they began an initiative to support local first responders on the front-lines.
