I went for myself and was so impressed. She gets all the kids involved and happy. In the summer they have the story times all around the neighborhood such as firemans field, village green, green acres mall and more. My daughter absolutely loves the Valley Stream childrens program and as a parent who couldn't afford summer camp I appreciate this program so much. It helps us keep our children busy and entertained. Ms Kunz, please keep doing the children's program because you are a blessing to Valley Stream and it's residents!

Only problem is the parking lot is on the other side of the street and the traffic is so bad on Hillside Avenue. Cars drive very fast on Hillside Avenue and I feel scared even when standing there to wait for the traffic light.

A lot of natural light comes in and it's a big space for open play with a ton of toy options and a table just for coloring. The one negative is once open play is over (about an hour), they put away all the toys. I've been to other libraries where they leave the toys out for the children to play with as long as the library is open. The parking lot is very big and there were plenty of spots when I went, which was a weekday at 4:30pm. I liked how the open play was in the middle of the day as early times don't work for my family's schedule.

Broadway quality shows for a fraction of the price. The Plaza Organization had humble beginnings in the early 80's. They have provided countless shows, workshops etc. since then. Working with various organizations across Long Island. The new venue at the library opened in January 2021. The 7000 square foot space houses a 420 seat theater and various offices. It puts on fully staged Broadway performances complete with a live orchestra! My friends and I had the pleasure of seeing their production of South Pacific on Friday 10/15/2021. It was spectacular! There are three other plays slated to run to complete the entire season. Each production runs for four weeks. I am currently gathering more friends and family to see their next production, Man Of La Mancha!! You can request material for loan online and get notified when it's at the branch ready for pickup. They are open six days a week. Staff members are a bit abrupt. I returned a loaned item at the automated return slot, and it was not read properly so it was still on my account as checked out. I brought it to the attention of a staff member to be corrected, and he acted like I was bothering him. Whatever happened to service with a smile?

As I walked to the entrance I saw ample parking on the other side. Walking inside I saw so much beauty and it was very quiet in here. I say at a cubicle up stairs and there was peace and quiet. The staff is gentle. I received a gentle scolding for being on the phone. Upon leaving the library at 5 pm, I thanked the librarian for the scolding and apologized at the same time, ensuring that I my actions will not be repeated in the future. This review is short because I was focused and trying to get much of my editing done, but it looks like I may not return to Franklin square library, wait,,, I have friends at Franklin square. I come for the cubicles and the clean restroom. I'll admit, some elderly members of the majority have put in that little extra effort to imply that my presence is not welcome (I had an elderly man silently but abrasively refuse to share the sidewalk, and middle aged women who look petrified if we cross paths in the restroom), but overall I find the library filled with folk who want to quietly complete tasks.

Coming here on my lunch break, I could hardly find a parking spot in the adjacent street. Luckily, there are a lot of empty spots a block away into the neighborhood. What is great about this library is that every section is clearly labeled. I made the mistake of going to the visible DVD section to my left, only to find out that I was in the children's section. There are about six computer terminals and only two studying tables I think. As expected from seeing the Korean shopping center across the street, this library has a great Korean language collection of books, magazines, CDs, and DVD/VHS. I only wished that the librarians aren't so ignorant to put Korean and Chinese media DVD/VHS/CDs together in the same section, where they are mixed together. I have no idea how people try to find a specific media item since there doesn't seem to be a clear filing system. They have movie titles on cardboard that I can take out to rent them from the shelf behind the circulation desk. Unfortunately, I won't bother going through this section because it's too tedious to sort out Korean/Chinese/Mandarin/Cantonese languages. Ironically, with a library so ethnically strong with a foreign language collection, I do not see a language learning section in this library. If I get to come back here again, I'll find the time to ask the librarian since I didn't have much time to really walk around due to time constraints with the parking, etc. There is a formal checkout line for the sole circulation desk with one, young teen librarian on duty to check out materials. I'm sure that this library is great for all the Korean knowledge suckers out there. There are 3 three floors in the library. The first floor is the Young Adult area, the second floor is for the children and the basement is for the adults. Some libraries tend to have less funding but this branch has plenty of books available. I signed up for a Queens Public Library card and I'm glad I did. I will take advantage of everything they have to offer. I'll visit again whenever I'm in the area.
