They have their collections of books, magazines, DVDs, CDs and other media available for perusal and loan. There is even a large children's section that I used to bring my son to when he was younger, with lots of tables for reading and homework. The current pandemic lockdown has changed all that and all public spaces have had to adjust their practices accordingly. I am glad that Queens Library has made their collections available again via their website. You can search their vast catalog for any of their materials from any branch, put in a request and it will be delivered to your local branch for pick-up. When you arrive, make sure you're wearing your mask, check in with the security guard and you can then go to your designated cart to find your marked books or media. Checkout is a snap at the self-service desk by placing your library card on the scanner pad and then your materials. I really like the convenience of designated library parking spots out front. And when you are finished with your borrowed materials, the walk-up self-service automated return kiosk makes it even easier than picking them up. But if you really want to avoid human contact and stay buttoned up in your house, ebooks are also available through their website.

Outdoor seating is insight, and is probably available when it gets warmer... Besides the regular library facilities and activities are classes, I must mention the bright and airy space, the high ceiling for the main floor, many computers on first and second floors, huge selection of dvds, and free WiFi are reasons of this one better than other Great Neck Libraries. If you don't find your book, you can look for it through the network and request it to be sent to this library. I find this library very pleasant and quiet. As the kids room and multiple purpose rooms are downstairs with doors near the restrooms, I don't hear much of kids playing sound when I am on the main floor. You can be pretty productive and get some mind intensive jobs done in here.

Who knew this library has a large kids room with baby toys, coloring, little tables, a touch screen computer with learning software, audio books, and hand puppets. Plus they have weekly free classes for kids which were better than the classes I used to pay for elsewhere. My kids had a blast here. This will be my new hangout spot. I suppose a public place like this attracts all the crowds but this one seems to be a beacon for the unruly. As much as I hate to admit it, I do come here quite a bit to get some monthly reading and occasional writing done. Parking is on the street, so it can be pretty tight since it's near the commercial center of Rockaway Park. If your lucky you'll find some residential street parking or if you are come via train, its the next block over. The staff are alright. I've had minimal interaction and it has usually been hassle-free, so no complaints there. They have a nice little collection of fiction reads and advertisement for local Queens Library Programs on display. The space is small but for the most part clean. They have about half a dozen computers for public use, with the standard 30 minute session. Depending on what time of the day, you will have to wait for usage and it's like the Hunger Games if you go in the evening. I've met all sorts of characters shouting obscenities or ones that just straight up mean mug you. My trips here are brief. Overall, if I don't have to go here I won't, I rather go to the one at Broad Channel for a more peaceful environment.

Big place with plenty of spaced seating to read , study , sleep ,etc. Very good selection of books , magazines and other learning materials as well . While my goddaughter was able to do her research on her own , I roamed around and felt a bite nostalgia like as I looked around . Glad the public library is still around and a great resource to have regardless of ones age . A cute little neighborhood library with everything you'd need…read more It may not have a massive selection, but it has all of the options you'd require from a modern library - you have about a dozen computer terminals and multiple (free) printing stations that you can log into, a whole bunch of movies on DVD/Blu Ray to take home, a comics/manga section for kids (and kid-like adults like myself), magazines, and of course plenty of books around. They routinely put up notices for classes and programs for the local community - Chess club, English Conversation groups, Music, mobile device classes, creative writing, you name it. The hours are about what you'd expect from a normal NYC library - open most days until about 6:00 pm, closed on weekends. I come here semi-often and the staff are always friendly and helpful. I'm glad this is here for the local community and that we have this as a go-to option for learning or relaxation.

There is an excellent children and teenage book selection along with the standard free internet stations are ample for library patrons. Staff is very friendly and welcoming for the island's hospitality. It sits visible on the major road, Cross Bay Boulevard and easily accessible by the Q21, Q52, or Q53 buses as I've seen it many times en route to my high school in the Rockaway Peninsula. This is my very first visit inside and I'm happy for a jewel find. The building's circular but small structure piqued my interest, amid it's real far distance from mainland Queens, but the quiet atmosphere calls for finding time to sit and read in seclusion away from the world. It's a small, cute local library with friendly librarians and staff members. You would feel like you walked into a game zone rather than a library. I noticed Bayside and Douglaston library locations strictly prohibits children from playing video games during these hours and they also prevent children using Teen and Adult computers out of their safety concerns.

Definitely has a different look from your typical library -- it's a round structure painted with primary colors (blue, yellow, red), akin to a Kindergarten. But don't be fooled, it's your average Queens Library inside. Because of the unusual structure of the building there is a lack of windows so be prepared to adjust your eyes to the darkness inside. The shelves are arranged around the outside edge (like spokes of a wheel) and the center holds the computers and tables/chairs. This branch is still in the Dark Ages (no pun intended) so there is no self-check out yet. But it does the job and I generally emerge with a book or two in hand. I've come to feel at home here and feel that it's unusual shape and color simply adds to its charm.
