Lord knows the last time I stepped foot in this zoo? This is one of those little places u forget it's around. Random day hubby & I decide to come check it out .. prices are very reasonable. Once inside u go about your own pace, they do have quite a few variety of animals to see. Main attraction seems to still be the Seal's which are so cute to watch. For what it is this zoo serves its purpose nice to check out.
The Zoo that is near the New York Hall of Science. So you can stop by Hall of Science before or after you visit to the zoo if you have time. This was my first time at the Queens Zoo. It is definitely larger than the Central Park Zoo. They have two sides one where you can see the typical soon animals if they come out (e.g. when I went the black bear was hiding) and the other side had animals you could feed and pet. Overall, a pretty good zoo to spend 1 hour walking around especially if you have kids.
Near the hall of science. You can basically spend a whole day at this area since it includes a zoo. You pay for your ticket at the entrance and you are on your own self tour. There are signs and it's big circle so you won't get lost. There is also another side to the zoo where you can feed the animals at 25 cents for the food. A lot of active animals running around on that end because they are hungry for food. Also a side note cannot bring the scooters inside the zoo, strollers are allowed. Do not know the reason why scooters are not allowed. This was the downside part as kids can get tired walking a long pathway. There is also an eating area inside the zoo and food for purchase. Animals like bears and foxes are hiding. There is also a seal show. Overall good experience if you never been to the zoo.
My 3 yr old son had the time of his life . Me and my wife took him to the queens zoo, here at flushing meadow park. This was his first time to this particular zoo. He enjoyed the petting zoo so much. From the lamas, to the horses even the little goats .he made a few friends with most of them. We both feed quite a few of them. He didn't want to leave, but once we went to the amusement park side. My little guy lost it, from the carousels horses to the fast roller-coaster. I have to admit the roller-coaster had me a little bit shook up.but for him he laughed the whole time. I thought after that he would be done, so got on the leap frog, a bungee type ride .He was a pro, he didn't cry or anything. He just laughed and couldn't stop smiling. We also enjoyed the little tea cup ride that goes in circles when you spin the middle of it. All the rides were fun for all of us, we made alot of memories to last us a lifetime on this 4th of July. I would definitely recommend the queens zoo, not only because queens is my favorite borough. But because me and family genuinely had a fun time here on the 4th of July.
Cute and the perfect local zoo for Queens! My family has the Wildlife Conservation membership for the year and we are visiting all the zoos in New York City! This is the perfect, small local zoo for young kids. Queens Zoo is located in Corona Park. It is a lot smaller than other zoos in NYC but it is perfect size for local parents with babies and toddlers. There are two parts of the zoo, one is the petting zoo where you can meet animal friends such as the alpaca, sheep, goat, rabbit, and cattle. You can purchase little kibbles and feed the animals. My toddler loves the petting zoo and it always makes her extra happy when she gets to feed the animals. The second part is the actual zoo with the Aviary exhibit to see birds, Bison field, Lynx forest, and our personal favorite the brown bear cave. Overall, we spend about 2-3 hours each time we come just to take a walk and run our toddler's energy out before her afternoon nap time. There is parking at the zoos that comes with the membership with additional cost but there is also plenty of street parking that is closer to the zoo entrance.
Great and fun zoo. There is a lot to see but it can go fast if you speed run it. The animals look happy and healthy. The bird exhibits is probably my favorite. There are so many free flying everywhere. There is also a petting zoo. 4 quarters get you a lot of food. You can feed goats. They have cows and llamas as well. Definitely will come back.
I appreciate the simplicity and ease of navigating this zoo. It is one large loop with little paths detouring you to each animal exhibit and then directing you back to the main path. There's no back-tracking or wondering if you accidentally skipped something. If you are really taking everything in, you could spend a solid 90 minutes here. But 45-hour is plenty of time to allocate. The main attraction is the sea lion feeding which happens multiple times/day, but sadly they were doing some work on the tank and did not hold any feedings the day I visited. The sea lions were also displeased since they were barking the whole time I was there! The walkways and exhibits are pretty well shaded which keeps the humans and animals cool. Aside from the sea lions, every animal was able to be seen even if they were snoozing. The cafe has some pre-made snacks, but limited selection so I passed. The second part of the zoo is a farm of domestic animals - goats, horses, cows, etc. Some were able to be fed. The aviary was my favorite part of the zoo. The geodesic dome is a hold over from the World's Fair of 1964 and it only serves to keep the birds in while allowing in all the natural light and weather elements of being outdoors. There is a combination of waterfowl and other species plus the trees were all in bloom for spring. At $10/adult this is an attraction to package in to a visit to Flushing/Corona Park.
Love this zoo. So beautiful & peaceful. The children's part is a lot of fun. You can feed goats & sheep. This is a perfect place for some family fun. Staff is always friendly. Highly recommend Queens Zoo for your next family outing.
This zoo is soo beautiful and small but so fun to see the animals. We got free tickets from the staff as they were giving them out at the NYSCI next door to celebrate the re-opening of museum. They gave a free ticket for each of my family members. We went after we visited the museum and we gpt there a little before they started to feed the sea lions. We got there just in time and it was nice seeing them get feed and do little tricks like wave to the crowd and jumps in the water. We were also able to view many parakeet and parrot type birds. Which i adore as i have 4 little parakeets of my own and seeing the family of them was so nice. It was such a nice day to walk around and see all the animals. The staff members were also very nice and helpful in my getting around.
We had an awesome time at the Queens Zoo for our family Sunday funday homeschool field trip. Hubbs got tickets online with no issue. They sell a limited number every day so if tickets are not available it's because they sold all they have for the day. He also donated a little extra and scored us some animal print cloth masks which were cute. Finding the entrance was a little difficult. We visited the area before when we went to NYSCI which nearby. Initially we drove past everything trying to find the zoo, ended up doubling back and asking someone in the parking lot at the science museum. We were told to park in the museum lot and walk but it seemed kind of far so we spoke with our cuzzie, who visited recently with his family, and he told us to park on the street where we saw people enjoying themselves in the park. We lucked out and got parking on the street right at the park entrance. There is a parking lot there also but we didn't try to look in there. Bringing our stroller was no issue as the park entrance has a pretty cool ramp built into the stairs. We walked down the main path and it was easy to see where the zoo was located. Their tickets are for timed entry and ours were for 11 AM. They give you an hour grace period and we joked that it was likely due to the difficulty locating their entrance for first time visitors. There was no line to enter the park. We just showed our online receipt, received our free animal masks and entered the park. This is a small zoo but they really do well to make your experience a good one. It is very interactive. There are quest stations all over the park, where staff members educate visitors and offer some games to play. Our tiny tot sorted recyclables, matched prints and pics to animals, matched birds to their calls and learned about ocean plastic pollution. We even joined in on the fun. We were able to see the see lion feeding and learn about sea lions. We were also able to see a lot of the animals pretty up close, like in the aviary and the mountain lion enclosure. They have a gift shop and concessions area as well. They have a nice sized bathroom that I went to twice during our visit, and did not have to wait for a stall either time. We walked the entire zoo at our leisure and it took about two hours because we stopped everywhere and did a lot of the quests. It was perfect, timewise. We even stopped by Migration Park where our tot was able to ayin a small playground with slides, money bars and plenty of things to climb all over. After the zoo we went to their farm across the way, where we were able to feed goats, sheep, llamas and ducks. Entry is included in the zoo price so that was a plus. They also have a bathroom on site and a place to wash your hands after getting slobbered on. Before heading home we stopped at Fantasy Forest Amusement Park and bought ten tickets. In my opinion, that's enough for two parents and one kid. We went on the carousel and they only charged one ticket for one parent and child. Most of the rides were one ticket with the exception of the Frog Hopper, where we had to use two. Our tot was fearless and was eager to try every ride. I was in awe by her and happy that she jumped in with both feet. We would definitely come back here We had a great day together, spending time with each other and learning for fun.
We visited this cute little zoo to break the monotony of food crawling in NY. It may not have any pandas or elephants but it has alligators, mountain lions and ferocious goats in the petting zoo. The sea lion feeding session was def the highlight. Getting there from Flushings was a pain. The express subway does not stop there, even the local train skipped the station (111 St), we ended up getting off instead at mets Willets station & walked 25 min to get there. The zoo is small & you can easily finish the tour in 90 min. We went inside the Aviary (large cage) to check out the birds. Other animals such as the bear, the coyote & bald eagle were in hiding, from human or from the heat. The sea lion feeding session (11 am, 2 pm, 4 pm) was fun albeit lasting less than 10 min. All 3 of the sea lions can do simple tricks under the encouragement of the zoo keepers and endless supplies of treats. Make sure to bring plenty of quarters to buy pellets and feed the animals in the petting zoo. 50 cents only get you a tiny handful of pellets. Some of the lambs/goats/sheep can be quite aggressive. Our fav was a white baby llama, or was it an alpaca?

What an adorable little zoo! Our family visited for the first time today and we practically had the place all to ourselves. The animals that were out were great. Our 6 year old really enjoyed seeing the pumas and the bears. He had a blast feeding all the farm animals. It's smaller than the Bronx Zoo but a bit more spread out. There's a parking lot and free street parking. The aviary was closed but from the looks of it from the outside it looks majestic. We'd return just to explore it. I'd recommend this zoo to a friend. read more

What do you do while watching your granddaughter, you go to the zoo! I decided on this zoo since it wasn't too far and we've been to the Brooklyn and Bronx zoo's. What a nice place! It runs on a loop, the child gets a little map to stop at all the education carts. They learn something about an animal or conservation. They have times they feed the sea lions and the trainers put them through their paces. There's a food truck by the sea lions and and a gift shop. Of course that was a stop. Bathrooms were in that area too. Not bad but I hate public bathrooms to begin with. Hubs said the mens room was clean. In that park is also kiddie rides and a farm. We didn't do that but definitely would make a full day of fun! read more
Probably one of the smallest zoos I've ever been to, though it's larger than Central Park zoo. I absolutely love that they have a petting farm component (at no extra cost), there's also a mini theme park/carnival grounds (~$3.50 per ride ticket, most appropriate for ages 3+). As the zoo is only small, it can feel a bit claustrophobic at the animals' viewing windows, space can also be an issue with multiple strollers on the paths. Decent selection of animals, mostly American. They did have daily scheduled feedings that you can watch, we managed to catch the sea lions. There's a cafe on the premises with limited food, more of a self-serve with mostly cold foods, there's plenty of seating though but recommend bringing your own lunches. There's a playground for children +5, Halloween-themed photo opportunity spots at the entrance. Tickets are $9.95 for adults and as mentioned before, includes the petting zoo part. The petting zoo was definitely the highlight, you can purchase feed for the animals for $0.50 (quarters only), you'll definitely want to get your child some to feed the animals (you won't regret it!). There's bathrooms on site and an activity area for children 3-4+ that staffs run. The animal pens are quite clean as are the animals, they're very gentle too when the children feed them. Was worried about the llamas spitting, but luckily they don't. They animals don't mind being pet and get up close to the kids. There's llamas, sheep, goats, cows, pigs, ducks and rabbits. My son absolutely adored all of them (he's 16 months old), we did too :D Worth the money and your kids will love you for it ;) read more
This is a small zoo located just off of the 111th St. entrance to Flushing-Meadow Corona Park. There is a free parking lot here but come early or you'll be circling for street parking. You can also parking at the Hall of Science with fees. The zoo has farm animals, petting area and a bird aviary. There is also a children's amusement area with a nice merry-go-round separate from the zoo. I recommend only small children; older children will be a little bored. Visiting for Halloween was a lot of fun too. Many of the workers and volunteers participate by dressing up and giving out candy. For a full day of events conbimed it with the Hall of Science or a short walk over to the Queens Museum. read more

If you guys have read my other reviews for the other zoos and the aquarium of NYC, I have mentioned and recommended many times that you should invest in a membership with the Wildlife Conservation Society. Queens Zoo is one of them that is included with the membership. I would say this zoo is one of the smaller ones in the area besides the Prospect Park Zoo. The zoo has two parts, the side with the admissions is the zoo itself, and directly across from the entrance is the petting zoo. Basically a circular trail you can finish walking thru within 30 minutes. The petting zoo offers a couple of farm animals, so remember to bring extra quarters for the food machine, otherwise your kids won't have any food to feed the animals. Bring your own lunch! The place only has "grab and go" sandwiches, already pre-made and costs $$$ for them. Queens Zoo is located inside Flushing Meadows Park, and around the corner of the Fantasy Forest Flushing Meadows Carousel. The Queens Museum and the Hall of Science are both in the area as well. Make sure your day is freed up because you can definitely spent the entire day here with family and friends! read more
Queens Zoo is so beautiful!!!!!! This is my first time here and I enjoyed everything! The animals were in rare form....I started out by taking my map and walking towards the area where the bears were located. I am a little late, but I have never heard of a Chocoan Peccary....they are interesting and in my opinion looks something like a Boar. The Pudu ( a small deer) was adorable and was sleeping so peacefully. There was one Bison and it was resting comfortably sprawled out on some luscious green grass while the others were eating. The Sea Lion Cafe is so cute and it is right across from one of my favorite animals to see at any zoo....Sea Lions! I can watch them for such a long time because they are such majestic, entertaining creatures! I was able to get some brief video footage as the Sea Lion swam towards a section of rocks, leaped out of the water and proceeded to waddle along on dry land.... It was quite magnificent to watch! All of the animals were spectacular! Marcus, one of the zoo employees, was nice enough to walk the remainder of us out of the zoo towards the front entrance. I of course lost track of time and the Queens Zoo was closing-lol. All in all, I had a good time. read more
I've been to the Central Park and Bronx zoos plenty of times, and have been eager to visit the Queens Zoo since it's way more convenient for me than visiting those zoos again. The zoo is located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. For $8 for an adult ticket, I'd say it's extremely worth it to avoid the schlep to the city by coming here. You'll probably take about 1-1.5 hours to do the loop around the zoo. Easy short walks between each animal exhibit. I get pretty annoyed when I go to zoos and half the animals are hiding / far away since the exhibits are too large, but I was able to quickly find each animal- not any empty exhibits. My favorite was the sea lions and the BEAR!! Would I have liked to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, etc? Yeah...but there were enough animals to keep me entertained so that was okay. The Aviary where you try to see how many birds you can find was pretty fun too. They also have a petting zoo which is great if you have kids. I thought the "graveyard" to see which animals are extinct (and when they became extinct) was interesting. Great way to spend a beautiful spring/summer day! If you have kids or are all about embracing your inner child, DO IT! read more
I have to admit I did not know there was a Queens zoo. Don't judge me!. Watching "The Zoo" on animal channel I was dumb found to know there was a zoo in Queens and ever since then my mother has been nagging me to take her so I finally did. The zoo is located right behind terrace on the park. The queens zoo is a similar size to prospect park zoo and Central Park zoo but does hold some pretty larger animals; in particular Bulls, Bears and Jaguars. It also has a walk in cage with some exotic birds. The cage was my favorite as there was this parrot that mimic a dog, it was hilarious. What's also really cool is the zoo has something called "EDUCATION STATION". Where are these little stands all over the zoo to educate guests about the animals in our world, which I think is very important as we have to save our animals or else our echo system will die. But I guess the fun part if It all is the feeding station. Just 50 Cent of fun and feeding goats, lambs, sheeps and lamas. I will differently recommend bringing you family here, it's right across from the science museum. read more

A very small zoo. It is very easy to get around. It is a little way from the subway stop, about a 15 minute walk. Definitely follow the signs as the entrance is set back from the street. It is divided into two parts with the main zoo on one side of an access road and the domestic animals on the other side. The main zoo is basically one big loop that can be walked in an hour or two depending on your pace and long you look at the animals. The bathrooms and vending machines are in the back of the zoo about halfway around. Bring food or eat first as the only food offerings are vending machines. The aviary is really nice for a zoo this small. The zoo has a nice set up and the zoo as a whole has a nice flow to it. Unlike other zoos I have been to where you can tell the older exhibits from the newer ones, this zoo is pretty much up to date. I like the extinct animal graveyard exhibit. The domestic animal section is ok. Spending time around farm animals growing up, this part of the zoo did not excite me to much. It is worth a walk through to learn about different farm animals, feed, and pet them. read more
We visited with our 1 year old on a Friday afternoon. Small, well taken care of zoo in Corona Park. Easy stroller path, clean enclosures and an easy on your wallet activity. Our favorites were the Puma, lynx, and sea lions. Love that the petting farm was included too! Llamas, sheep, goats, some cattle, bunnies. read more

Small, but very nice Zoo. Beautiful lay-out with great visibility of the residents while also providing what seemed to be a comfortable and suitable environment for the animals. It was cold so basically had the place to myself which was nice. Nice selection of animals with Pumas, Andean Bears, Seals, Coyotes, Roosevelt Elk, and Bison. Missed the Alligator (weather), but they had a wonderful Aviary with large selection of birds roaming freely inside. They also have a great petting area with access to farm animals. Overall a great place to visit while in Queens, and is wonderfully located in Flushing Meadows Park. Reasonable prices at less than $10 for an Adult. read more

I've been going here my whole life. It is a great escape to feel like you're not in Queens. Great place for all age groups. You pay $8 for adults which isn't expensive. You get to see a variety of animals from ducks to bald eagles. They have lots of information and excitement for everyone. Also you get a free ticket to the petting zoo if you buy a ticket for the zoo. They have free parking. Also outside the zoo is a little carnival for small children. Flushing Meadow park itself has lots of options not just the zoo such as the hall of science, an ice skating rink, mini golf etc. Lots to explore. read more

I visited the zoo last week and it was so nice. They put up hand sanitizer machines everywhere and you must have your mask on. I guess it rained earlier that day some animals were kinda hiding so i didn't see a few of them. But the parrots were beautiful. I enjoyed the sea lions also. The petting zoo is included so that was sweet. My son was afraid of the animals tho lol. But it was a great time and we will be back. It's smaller than the Bronx zoo but who really wants to go to the Bronx LOL read more
Very nice place to bring your kids to care here with my daughter on a school trip the zoo is not big which makes it perfect for 6 years it doesn't require a lot of walking but there are plenty of animals for them to see. The sea lion feeding was nice and everyone enjoyed it find a spot early because it gets crowded. The petting zoo area has plenty of animals that the kids could feed there are vending machines that let you purchase feed. Overall not a bad place to spend a few hours with the kids admission was $8 parking was free and you can bring your own lunch read more

I have been coming to this zoo for my whole life, and didn't realize until recently how close it was to everything. A quick ride on the Q23 bus can get you there, but even walking from forest hills isn't bad and makes for a good workout. The zoo itself has a petting zoo and North American animals, so it's specialized and smaller than most zoos, but doesn't make it any less enjoyable! i came here on a beautiful but slightly chilly fall day and was delighted to see the animals loving the weather - making for good spots - meanwhile the zoo itself was basically empty. the coyotes and bison are a favorite! Animals are kept in good clean enclosures and are fed well. Recently they've had the successful birth of a spectacled bear (very endangered!) and he is a quickly growing boy, and much fun to visit. can't recommend this place enough for a low key date or walk or place to go with friends and family. always satisfied! read more

What a huge understatement. If you haven't been to the Queens Zoo, I definitely recommend taking your kids or nephews/nieces here. For $8.00 per adult and $5.00 per child (Ages 3-12), you basically have the zoo to yourself. The crowds are almost non-existent on a warm Saturday afternoon in August. Forget the confusing paths at Bronx Zoo or deciding where to go and only having to backtrack at the Central Park Zoo. Follow the easy to follow paved one-way path and stop by each exhibit set in the following order: Alligator, Sandhill Crane, Sandhill Crane, Ducks @ Waterfowl Marsh, American Bald Eagle, Lynx, Puma, Owl, Roosevelt Elk, Birds/Parrots/Porcupine @ Aviary, Coyote, Sea Lion, Bison, Pronghorn Antelope, Pudu, Chacoan Peccary, Thick-billed Parrot, and the Andean Bear. Although the Queens Zoo may not have the number of animals like the Bronx Zoo, it is just long enough (about 2 hours) for the kids to enjoy themselves without losing their attention or getting cranky. Another thing worth noting was that the zookeepers made each exhibit small enough so that you can view the animals up-close and with almost no obstruction. You could almost touch every animal if it wasn't for the piece of glass between human and animal. Kids will love this, as I've been to the Bronx Zoo one too many times to see either an empty exhibit or the animals far in the back hiding from the spectators. Only one exhibit was empty, the coyote during my visit. Also remember to bring food for the kids, as the Sea Lion Store & Cafe only has a very small selection of pre-made refrigerated sandwiches and drinks. There is no hot kitchen available, which could be a bummer, especially in the winter time when you might want a hot meal or soup. Do bring some extra cash as souvenirs are cheap. I was able to get a vintage Queens Zoo cotton T-Shirt for only $10.00!!! After you are done at the viewing exhibit, you can walk across the entrance path to go to the petting zoo. Just show your receipt from the Queens Zoo for free access. The kids will be able to buy feed from small quarter machines and feed all the animals ranging from sheep, pigs, cows, Alpaca, llamas, horses, ducks, bunnies, goat, and ram. It is in a very safe environment with park staff constantly walking around to assist zoo guests. After the kids are all done, there are various wash stations, bathrooms, and Purell dispensers to clean your hands. Overall, all the kids had a great time as well as myself!! If you're hesitatnt, please do go and enjoy this little gem in Queens. read more
Great quality time spent at the Queens Zoo. A good bargain as its only $8 for adult admission. The loop only takes an hour. Great petting zoo as they have a lot of animals. Each exhibit is lively and has a great view of the animal. The animals were awake and appeared happy. Was quite impress by the quality of the animals and their overall appearance. The highlight of my experience are the aviary and the pudu! Got to see the world's smallest deer. See for yourself. Queens Zoo was a pleasure to walk around. There is a designated loop that takes you past all the animals, which are located fairly near to each other. The park is divided into 2, with the large animals in one location and domestic animals across the way. I was round the entire zoo in just under 3 hours including a stop for lunch. It is well worth the $8 entry fee. I was surprised at the selection if animals for such a small zoo. It would be a better option for smaller children as opposed to Bronx Zoo which is a lot of walking. This is definitely a more leisurely option. read more

Really nice small zoo,inside flushing meadows park. Seperated into 2 sections, one side is a petting zoo with ducks, goats,and other furry friends. The animals are well cared for and very friendly, there are gumball machines that dispense feed for 50cents a portion, so remember to bring at least 10bucks in quarters. The other exhibits are really cool but its a small zoo,not comparable to the Bronx zoo. Had a very nice day in the sun and the admission is 10 bucks, they have a gift shop and snack bar,but i ended up buying a couple plates of food from some of the vendors in the park.there is also a mini amusement park with carnival games and rides.All in all worth a visit and surely i will return. read more
A lot of the animals here were sleeping or resting upon arrival until the end of the walk. Not sure if it was bad timing (1pm-3:30ishpm). Walk around the loop took about hour and a half with eating time. There are actually some nifty animals here that you wouldnt expect to be at this location. They also have a petting/feeding area adjacent to the zoo entrance. 25cents to get a handful of sheep food or whatnot. It does smell like their excretes so do be alarmed if sensitive to scent. Overall, it is a really nice zoo to go around It is 8$ per adult & children under 3 are free. Yelp's online e-ticket discount is not even a real thing. Prices are the same at admission gate. There is re-entry when you leave as well. They will stamp your receipt or hand. Receipt = entrance ticket. read more

First off I love that its near the park because the park is amazing.. going there makes all the city tears go away. Though the zoo is small, its so cheap. For $8 you get the zoo and the petting zoo. My favorite exhibits where the sea lions (they had an amazing exhibit) and the elks, all the other animals where laying around and tired. Had enough of the bird exhibits. Dont know what it is about NY and bird exhibits (same as the Bronx Zoo) but once you see 4, I'm done. haha... dont needs 3 more exhibits of birds...... The cafe is cute.. def could use a better renovation inside... it would be really nice to have a nice lunch on the patio infront of the sea lions and not eat pre package crap from the 7-11... I liked it... its a nice get away.... Also I wish the petting zoo had more than just sheep... and goats... I really wanted to pet the horse they had.. (I grew up with horses..) but they were in reach to pet! read more
