I love how huge the pond of the park is. It is cool to see so many geese during the calm before the first snow storm of 2020. You could tell that they were enjoying the temperature. Glad that I stopped by after my errand nearby. It must be beautiful here during warm weather. There is a sprinkler by the playground area. Lots of tables and benches within . The ground is large enough to be able to do any sports activities. The walking path is spacious. I would come back. It is located. in a good neighborhood. read more

Good size neighborhood park, spread out over a couple city blocks. Has the standard playground with sprinklers for the kids, a bocce ball court for the old timers, basketball ball court, bathrooms, and on the opposite end, a small lake filled with ducks, geese, and turtles. The lake could use some cleaning up. There's always garbage floating in it. Sometimes you'll see people playing with their remote control boats in there. That's pretty fun. How about adding a small section with exercise equipment for the adults? Pull up bars, parallel bars, a couple benches for doing sit ups. That would totally make it complete. read more

Lot's of History at this Park. I grew up a few blocks away and this was "The Park." Would hang out with friends or family here all the time. It was my parent's favorite park--they really never went to any other park. It has a good feel to it--like you kind of got away from the city. It's in a good neighborhood of homes. This park is so underrated that it's insane!! After grabbing lunch in the Northern Boulevard area, my boyfriend and I wanted to walk off our food babies and we saw that Bowne Park is only a 10 minute drive away. We didn't expect to experience the almost "nature conservancy", if you will. The park is also well-maintained and filled with people young and old. The playground area has a beautiful area of water sprinklers that I've only seen as trash can-esque statues in lower Brooklyn. The park is colorful and has really intricate and colorful decorations. There are swings and slides for the younger children and the regular ball courts for teens to enjoy. There is also a restroom that seemed relatively clean. Now, if you walk past the playground area, you will find yourself in a serene pond area. I saw people fishing and families just laying on the grass under the large trees. I was so excited to see ducks, fish and turtles inhabiting the pond. I actually got up close to the turtles and fish because they were just chilling by the shore :) Many people were also walking their pups and I got to meet my first Samoyed! I have to pay tribute to Bowne Park - one of my favorite juvenescence memories. Always a simple reminder to center yourself. When around the neighborhood, I enjoy coming back and walking around the pond, passing the weeping willow for a quick picture, and ending by the benches to say hello to our old geese and turtle friends. Occasionally, I would see someone fishing. There's a playground in the back, along with a bocce and basketball court. It's a small park to pass the time before heading home. read more

Where do I even begin. Me and my sister initially decided to picnic at this park. We grab our food and drink and make our way down to Bowne Park for what we thought was going to be a calm peaceful evening with a beautiful view. We were HIGHLY mistaken. Before you can even see the water, you get hit with a swamp stench, at any moment I thought Shrek and his gang was going to come out the bushes. We sit down on the bench in front of the water because I thought it was going to be "calming", and boy was I wrong. Every 10 seconds the water shoots into the air from the broken spouts in the pond to produce a lovely slapping sound and misty dew. On top of the thousands of stares we were getting from all middle aged asian families, we are busy fighting the onslaught of mosquitoes. Then with our leftover food we decide to give back to the community and feed the fish. *We specifically got food for the fish* Our joy was quickly put to a halt when these alieanted looking fish revealed themselves under the 10lbs of algae and moldy moss. While feeding be prepared to be chased by the gmo infused dragonflies who are about hand length. After deciding that enough is enough, the park does not let you go that easy. As we walk out discussing the trauma that just occurred we ran into 3 different mosquito swarms, which were ready and in formation. When I tried to warn my sister to close her mouth I end up swallowing a few, so I got my protein in for the day. Needless to say I am growing a 3rd hand as I type. You will never see me here again. read more

Beautiful park. I love the scenic view. I saw a duck pond. There were 6 teeny tiny ducklings attached to their mommy. Then I saw an island rock of turtles all lounging in the sun. There were multiple benches in the shade, and I even saw a jazz trio prepping for a gig. I enjoyed my visit here, because there's something for everyone. There's a playground for children school-age, and I saw a smaller playground for toddlers. They have sprinklers and some cool new playground equipment that I haven't seen when I was growing up. Just a super cool experience. With the weather so beautiful, I believe I'll be back again soon this summer. read more

It's a nice park, although not big but it's a clean and pretty quiet place. In the middle of the neighbours and people take walks, kids, and some bring their dogs for a walk. One heck of a nice park in the outskirts of Flushing. The pond is really serene, and there's plenty of benches to park your butt on if you just want to chill out and watch the cavalcade of Geese who patrol the area. Most people who come here seem to be walking their dogs or getting some exercise on the paths. Unfortunately, the grass quality stinks here so if you've come to catch some sun, forget about sprawling on the lawn without a good thick blanket. read more

Nice little park to jog, stroll or walk your dog. I bring my dog here to jog and he loves it. There is a cute little lake in the middle and a lot of dogs in the am or pm. The only negative thing about this place is the geese poop on the ground. It's everywhere and I step on it all the time. Other than that it's a nice place to read a book or just relax. They also have bathrooms to use Incase of an emergency. I think my dog loves this place more than me. read more

Bowne Park - Magical bliss - Parks Near Me - Flushing, New York

I grew up two blocks away from Bowne Park. A large part of my childhood has been spent passing time in this very charming neighborhood park. I have passed this tradition onto my children since they were babies. Its a relatively small park but charming as could be. Its a local, family friendly venue. Often in the morning you will see groups of people practicing Tai Chi, running, stretching and biking. There is a bocci ball court as well that is fun to watch or play, if you dare. Warning: the players take it very serious. I suspect there is incentive there! There is a small pond there loaded with geese and turtles which children get a kick out of feeding. Poor overfed creatures.. A full basketball court, swings, some beautiful weeping willows (my all time favorite tree) . Of course, park benches and it is dog friendly. A jewel of a park in the heart of Flushing. A lovely place to visit for a good time to be had by all. read more

Bowne Park is a great local spot but not something you'd come out of your way for. It pops up in the middle of a residential neighborhood and is rather small. There's a lake, a playground, bocce ball court, and some basketball and handball courts but that's it. Though they do hold a lot of fun events for children, a fair or two, and I've also seen the North Shore adoption van stop by in the past. I spent a lot of time here growing up and while I have a soft spot for it, and the community really gets a lot out of it, it's not a destination unless you happen to be here already. read more

Great park with a tremendous amount of things to do. An extensive playground for kids, a great, full-court basketball area, and two bocce courts that seem to keep dozens of men occupied for hours on end. Aside from that they have nice trails going through the park with huge trees, and a picturesque lake at the other end. An abundance of live turtles and ducks make it that much nicer. Growing up in Bayside, I NEVER went to Bowne Park (Crocheron was our preferred park during childhood)! But I have a kid now, we all live in "Auburndale" -- and we're a hop skip away from Bowne Park's little pond, bocce court, swings, and a great gathering place for locals. I love how it brings the community together, and its accessibility makes it so neighborhood-friendly. It's also a decent size, not just a little playground or such. We'll be coming here for years to come, I'm sure. read more

This park is a little bit of heaven in the middle of Queens. This neighborhood gem has always been a quiet and relaxing retreat to visit. It is a true neighborhood park. You will see families, neighbors and friends all enjoying the different activities this park has to offer. There are renovated Bocce courts.. And this is no ordinary game. This is the old timers playing very serious games. They play at all hours ( even 2 am) and In all sorts of weather. It is intense! The playground is alway filled with happy families. The kids love the sprinkler in the summer. The basketball courts are always filled. There is even a separate baby slide and activity area. There are beautiful soaring trees all around. It is like a tiny forest. The lake is gorgeous with plenty of ducks, geese, swans and turtles. There is a turtle habitat in the middle of the lake. The lake has fish and some kids enjoy sport fishing in the lake. There are tons of sunbathing areas, lots of green grass and and jogging paths. They also host events such as a Halloween festival, a 50's concert, and other neighborhood events. It is a wonderful place to picnic, relax and have a good time. read more
