I've been told this is the busiest rail station in London proper, and I believe it. It is a major…read morehub, especially if traveling from Heathrow/west/south/north/basically anywhere around London to everywhere else. For how many people pass through daily, I found it clean - especially compared to a public transport stop in Chicago or NYC. As an American, from Wisconsin, I am essentially ignorant as to how public transportation works. But with a little patience and a lot of assistance from Google Maps and politely asking staff or other travelers, it really isn't as crazy as it seems. I feel like there is decent signage, the key is to research ahead of time what platform you are arriving on and where you need to go next. Also, avoiding the work/school rush hours makes it much less intimidating ;)

The staff were exceptionally helpful, always ready to guide us about the train departures and ensuring that we did not take the wrong route. It was a wonderful experience, and I would like to express my sincere thanks in particular to Antonia, who was very kind and always willing to provide us with clear information about the train times. Her dedication made real difference to my visit. Many thanks to everyone for the excellent service!

I have since passed through many times in the last 3.5 years and it is still magnificent. The architecture is very grandiose and picture-worthy. It is relatively easy to navigate; if I can do it as a tourist, I'm confident most can figure it out ;) The toilets (bathrooms) are a bit hidden. You need to go down a set of stairs for the ladies. The wallpaper reminded me of 2006 Victoria's Secret, and the doors are floor to ceiling offering the most privacy of any public restroom I have been in. The entire station is ridiculously clean compared to any US train or bus station I have traveled through. There are many options for coffee and food, as well as a mini M&S and Tesco Express.... Tesco Express meal deal for less than £4 cannot be beat!!! 5 stars for convince, cleanliness, friendliness, and Tesco Express.

Two groceries are in the station, which makes it very convenient to pick some things up. A hotel is in the renovated older part of the station. It has a direct entrance rate into Paddington Station. It's clean and well-run and is easy to navigate with signage. I came into this station from Heathrow via the express train from the airport to Paddington Station for about $45. I easily walked up and purchased my ticket at the airport from a kiosk and walked via the easy to follow signage to the correct area and waited about 8 minutes for the next train. Once at Paddington, I switched to another train and made it to my hotel. All for about $50 in 45 minutes instead of spending $150 on a taxi and sitting in traffic for two hours. No thanks! I love the ease of inner city travel via train in London. It's great. Europeans have it figured out when it comes to that! The station itself is large and has plenty of shopping and snacks to take care of you. I hadn't eaten in hours and grabbed a sandwich while here and looked at some shirts and sunglasses for the trip. Love!

The bathrooms were not easy to find in my area and of course the pain of paying is something that should be free in a transportation facility. The architecture was so beautiful at any time of the day. The inside being quite beautiful as well, especially when you walk upstairs overlooking the Eurostar trains and see a couple different statues there. My favorite was the large one of the couple embracing. Platform 9 3/4 is located in this station, for Harry Potter fans, the cart is available during the day to take a picture with for a price, but after hours they remove it and you can still take pics and videos with it! During my stay they had free ice cream outside the station that was super yummy and a nice little treat to have before heading out in my way to the trains. Inside the station are lots of places to eat and has cheap, convenient food spots like Greggs, and nicer sit-down places as well. It can be a bit tough navigating through the station because it's so big (especially when using maps and trying to find places like restaurants inside of the station) but for the train areas just follow the signs and it's pretty self explanatory. They even have a piano for people to play for fun which was cool to see and hear. Scanning in and out of the station is also easy because all you need is a credit/debit card and you don't even need to purchase a ticket which is so much more convenient compared to places in the US or France. ---- Overall: a great station to stay near and to go to, easy-ish to navigate and lots of places to eat at, very beautiful station as well
