However, I recently had a reason for needing some oral surgery, and my dentist referred me do Dr. Brar's office. And I am glad about that. First of all, Dr. Brar must be good at hiring people, or have somebody helping him do that. Everybody I've been in contact with are great to work with, and makes me feel relaxed. Or as relaxed as you van feel at a dental surgeon. On top of that, Dr. Brar himself is a great dentist. He is friendly, knowledgeable, efficien, and have a great "bedside manner". My toot extraction took about 15 minutes, and apart from the sounds you hear when a tooth is pulled out of your upper jaw, there was no pain, no discomfort. Nothing. If I ever need oral surgery again, this is where I'll go, and I would recommend Dr. Brar to anybody needing it.

Now for the rest of the story: The fact that the oral surgeon was able to get an IV in my arm that most people can't speaks volumes to his skill. I didn't have any pain after my extraction and didn't take any meds, though it was a relatively "simple" extraction as far as extractions go. The hardest part post‑op was limiting myself to soft foods for a week! I've only been to the office twice -- the consult and the actual procedure. The consult didn't leave me with the best first impression. My anxiety was through the roof and, other than the fantastic lady at the front desk, the visit didn't do much to calm it. I also later found out I could have filled out the paperwork online beforehand; I didn't bring my glasses and really struggled to read the forms in the office. For some people, including myself, the dental environment is inherently anxiety‑provoking. The power imbalance, the lack of control, the vulnerability... None of that is easily eased when you're lying on an uncomfortable dental chair in a cold, quiet room with only your thoughts (and an IV sedation handout) for company. I would have appreciated being clearly presented with all sedation options instead of IV being assumed. Anxiety aside, all went well. John didn't push any work and let me make the decisions about my teeth that worked for me. He was very vocal about what he was doing and what I was to expect during the whole process. He did a bunch of work in one visit and fixed the rest on my next. I am so grateful because my past experiences with dentists were terrible. I have overcrowding and he didn't push braces on me or anything. It was nice because I don't want braces, I know my teeth aren't straight and I like them. He's the first dentist to not even suggest them. I love the art on the wall and the Sinatra on the radio. It helped calmed my nerves. I will definitely be returning for cleanings. He fixed everything in my mouth in 2 visits! My other dentist would only do one thing at a time and the wait list was months. The following week I was scheduled have one tooth extracted before I started my radiation sessions. My fantastic dentist of 25 years retired, so I needed another winner; and thankfully Charlie had space to take me on. I cannot exaggerate all of his fine qualities, starting with friendly, communicative and gentle; followed by the most important: Fine Quality Work. Charlie did a complete makeover of my old worn down teeth. He had to do a lot of creative problem solving. At every single turn I can say he took the extra time and went the extra mile to get it right. I have new appreciation for dental work in general, and what sets a dentist leagues above others. I ended up with a whole new smile, but it feels completely natural because the bite is perfect. Charlie has positive interactions with his staff, and he makes an effort to work with other dentists in the region. Dr. Stivers arrived and clearly explained the entire procedure, from extraction to bone graft placement, in straightforward and calming terms. After the assistant applied the topical anesthetic, I didn't feel a thing--from start to finish. Post-operative instructions were provided both verbally and in writing, along with an ice pack and a prescription for discomfort (which I never needed to fill). Lakeside Endontics called Silver Creek Oral Surgery (they couldn't save the tooth in the condition that it was in) and they got me right in as I was in pain. This is an experienced team of dental professionals. I hit it off with Dr. Stivers and his team. They were friendly, experienced and effective. Dr. Stivers explained exactly what was going on with the affected tooth and offered treatment options, there was no pressure to decide. I paid in advance using a credit card, all charges were fully explained to me, both verbally and in writing. They worked quickly and effectively to remove the pain inducing back tooth. The after care treatment was excellent, with verbal and written instructions readily provided, and my questions were answered. My necessary prescriptions were emailed to my regular pharmacy and were ready for me to pick up. I was given a 'care bag', too.
